In this paper, we present a general architecture of hybrid prefix/carry-select adder. Based on this architecture, we formalize the hybrid adder's algorithm using the first-order recursive equations and develop a proof framework to prove its correctness. Since several previous adders in the literature are special cases of this general architecture, our methodology can be used to prove the correctness of different hybrid prefix/carry-select adders. The formal proof for a special hybrid prefix/carry-select adder shows the effectiveness of the algebraic structures built in this paper.

Document-level event extraction task has achieved significant progress based on template generation methods. However, there is no reasonable regulation and restriction in the existing template-based generation methods, which results in the uncontrollability of the generation results. In some scenarios, model generates entities that do not belong to the input text, or generate template content repeatedly. It is determined by the nature of the extraction task and the generation task. To this end, we propose a controllable template generation event extraction model. According to the characteristics of template generation and event extraction tasks, the model devises copy mechanism, inhibition mechanism and rejection mechanism under the appropriately constructed template. Our model achieves state-of-the-art result on MUC-4 dataset, and finally through experimental analysis, it demonstrates the effectiveness of each mechanism we proposed. © 2024 IEEE.

Ultrasound tongue imaging is widely used in clinical linguistics and phonetics. Recently, deep neural networks, especially convolutional neural networks, have been widely used in the interpretation and analysis of ultrasound tongue images (UTI). Despite achieving satisfactory performance, deep models rely on a large amount of manually labeled data, which is often difficult to obtain in practical settings. To address this issue, this paper focuses on how to utilize a large amount of unlabeled UTI data to improve the performance of UTI classification task. Specifically, we explore self-supervised learning with masking modeling strategy. By predicting the masked part, our pre-trained model enables the neural network to infer contextual information. Then, we fine-tune the pre-trained model with a small amount of labeled data. Compared with the previous competing algorithms, our method can improve the classification accuracy by an average of 13.33% in four different scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a framework to automatically map single-device OpenCL programs to heterogeneous multi-device platforms with performance concerns. Our framework is based on the independence of work groups which built inside the OpenCL programming model and relies heavily on the knowledge of global memory access regions of work groups. So global memory access patterns of work groups are analyzed and an abstract representation CCRwS is designed to describe the exact memory access regions of each memory access statement in the kernels. A global memory access analyzer is designed to get CCRwSs by performing static program analysis on kernel codes. Based on CCRwSs, data transfer between multiple devices and host can be fully controlled by our framework. Then a kernel code regenerator is designed to distribute the workload and perform architecture specific optimizations by code transformation. Then we tested our framework on a platform with 2 Intel E5-2650 CPUs and 4 NVIDIA Tesla C2050 GPUs. Compared with the performance on single GPU, the kernels running on all the 6 devices can achieve about 4.5x faster.

Cooperation of CPU and hardware accelerator on SoC FPGA to accomplish computational intensive tasks, provides significant advantages in performance and energy efficiency. However, current operating systems provide little support for accelerators: the OS is unaware that a computational task can be executed either on a CPU core or an accelerator, and provides no assistance in efficient management of data sharing between CPU and accelerator on the DRAM, such as zero copy, data coherence. It’s also hard for current OS to allocate large contiguous physical memory space for accelerator. In this paper, we select the Xilinx ZYNQ as target and qualitatively analyze methods of sharing data. Besides using high-performance (HP) AXI interfaces of the ZYQN device, we develop a novel memory management system for FPGA-based accelerator. It provides a unified virtual space for CPU cores and accelerator so that they can access the same memory space in the operating systems user space. For a deep convolutional neural network task, our design gains up to speed-up of 5. 34x compared to traditional processoraccelerator cooperation. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

The key escrow problem and high computational cost are the two major problems that hinder the wider adoption of hierarchical identity-based signature (HIBS) scheme. HIBS schemes with either escrow-free (EF) or online/offline (OO) model have been proved secure in our previous work. However, there is no much EF or OO scheme that has been evaluated experimentally. In this letter, several EF/OO HIBS schemes are considered. We study the algorithmic complexity of the schemes both theoretically and experimentally. Scheme performance and practicability of EF and OO models are discussed. © Copyright 2016 The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.

Spin-transfer torque random access memory (STT-RAM) is one of the most promising substitutes for universal main memory and cache due to its excellent scalability, high density and low leakage power. Nevertheless, the current non-volatile STT-RAM cache architecture also has some drawbacks, such as long write latency and high write energy, which limit the application of STTRAM in the top level cache design. To solve these problems, we relax the retention time of STT-RAM to explore its different write performance, and propose a novel STT-RAM L1 cache architecture implemented with volatile STT-RAM as well as its related refresh scheme. The performance of proposed design is the same as SRAM L1 cache while its overall power consumption is only 63.8% of the latter one. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2016.

The massive amounts of open source software provide sufficient reusable resources for software development. Most of the OSS communities adopt a kind of categorization or tagging mechanism to organize the software. However, the categorization often too coarse, while the tags are flat and fail to capture the inter-relation among them. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to reveal the latent relations between tags and build a tag hierarchy to help locate resources. We firstly build a co-occurrence network, based on which we compare the connotations of tags and construct a preliminary hierarchy. Then we leverage the domain knowledge of category in SourceForge to optimize and improve the relations between tags. At the end, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the constructed tag hierarchy with quantitative evaluation, which suggest the validation of our approach. © 2015 ACM.

With the dramatic growing of mobile application markets, users can find apps with any function they desire in these markets. However, the huge amounts of apps make it quite a challenge for users to discover good applications efficiently. Previous studies recommend applications based on the download history, user ratings or app usage records. Most of these studies fail to capture users' personal interests in mobile applications precisely. In this paper, we leverage apps as features for describing user's personal interests and propose a novel approach to do personalized recommendation. We introduce a Small-Crowd model to distinguish apps at reflecting users' personal interests, and design a weighting method to rank the installed apps for users by combining the global download information with fine-grained app usage records. The extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of our approach which outperforms state-of-the-art method. Copyright 2014 ACM.

Topology awareness algorithm for virtual network mapping

Network virtualization is recognized as an effective way to overcome the ossification of the Internet. However, the virtual network mapping problem (VNMP) is a critical challenge, focusing on how to map the virtual networks to the substrate network with efficient utilization of infrastructure resources. The problem can be divided into two phases: node mapping phase and link mapping phase. In the node mapping phase, the existing algorithms usually map those virtual nodes with a complete greedy strategy, without considering the topology among these virtual nodes, resulting in too long substrate paths (with multiple hops). Addressing this problem, we propose a topology awareness mapping algorithm, which considers the topology among these virtual nodes. In the link mapping phase, the new algorithm adopts the k-shortest path algorithm. Simulation results show that the new algorithm greatly increases the long-term average revenue, the acceptance ratio, and the long-term revenue-to-cost ratio (R/C).
