This paper presents reuse-aware modulo scheduling to maximizing stream reuse and improving concurrency for stream-level loops running on stream processors. The novelty lies in the development of a new representation for an unrolled and software-pipelined stream-level loop using a set of reuse equations, resulting in simultaneous optimization of two performance objectives for the loop, reuse and concurrency, in a unified framework. We have implemented this work in the compiler developed for our 64-bit FT64 stream processor. Our experimental results obtained on FT64 and by simulation using nine representative stream applications demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Malicious code detection based on behaviors is the development direction of anti-virus techniques. However, the current detection methods based on this theory expose several problems such as the unclearness of behavior sequence analysis and the high false negatives. For this situation, this paper proposes a malicious code detection method based on least-squares estimation. In this method, it correlates program behaviors with time and subject-object, and then constitutes an accurate and complete behavior sequence. It can provide a preprocessing method for the subsequent detection. In order to improve the accuracy and intelligence of malicious code detection, we introduce the concept of expert subjective degree. By modeling malicious samples based on least-squares estimation we can train the Expert Subjective Degree Vector (ESDV) and simulate experts to judge the threat values of malicious codes. Experiments show that this method is more accurate than the current ways to detect the malicious codes which execute themselves in sub-period and sub-process ways, so it can be used as an effective complement of the current anti-virus software.

computer science is a practical discipline. It is always a great challenge to evaluate students' computer practice using computer-aided means for large scale students. We always need to address problems such as suspected plagiarism and deviation of the overall difficulty factor. In this paper, a multi-dimensional assessment model is designed for CS courses based on the detailed practice processing data in an E-learning system. The model comprehensively evaluates the students' learning process and results in three aspects of correctness, originality, and quality detection. Besides, the teacher can easily participate in the assessment according to their needs. The correctness is an essential requirement, and the originality is based on the clustering results of students' behaviors after clone detection to curb homework plagiarism. SonarQube is used to detect code quality and put forward higher requirements for codes. Manual participation intelligence has improved the flexibility and applicability of the model to a certain extent. We applied this model on the EduCoder online education platform and carried out a comprehensive analysis of 485 students in the parallel Programming Principles and Practice Class of Huazhong University of science and Technology. Experiment results confirm the distinction, rationality, and fairness of the model in assessing student performance. It not only gives students a credible, comprehensive score in large-scale online practical programming courses but also gives teachers and students corresponding suggestions based on the evaluation results. Furthermore, the model can be extended to other online education platforms. © 2020 ACM.

Learning non-local image diffusion for image denoising

Image diffusion plays a fundamental role for the task of image denoising. Recently proposed trainable nonlinear reaction diffusion (TNRD) model defines a simple but very effective framework for image denoising. However, as the TNRD model is a local model, the diffusion behavior of which is purely controlled by information of local patches, it is prone to create artifacts in the homogenous regions and over-smooth highly textured regions, especially in the case of strong noise levels. Meanwhile, it is widely known that the non-local selfsimilarity (NSS) prior stands as an effective image prior for image denoising, which has been widely exploited in many nonlocal methods. In this work, we are highly motivated to embed the NSS prior into the TNRD model to tackle its weaknesses. In order to preserve the expected property that end-to-end training is available, we exploit the NSS prior by a set of non-local filters, and derive our proposed trainable non-local reaction diffusion (TNLRD) model for image denoising. Together with the local filters and influence functions, the non-local filters are learned by employing loss-specific training. The experimental results show that the trained TNLRD model produces visually plausible recovered images with more textures and less artifacts, compared to its local versions. Moreover, the trained TNLRD model can achieve strongly competitive performance to recent state-of-theart image denoising methods in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index (SSIM). Cloud Services Delivery Networks (CSDN) constructs a layer distributed server overlay over the Internet, which uses the way to the nearest and on-demand approach providing services to end users. Facing the scale and diversification of the resource demand characteristics of the Internet cloud services, CSDN forms different logical sub-server overlay for different kinds of cloud services. However, most servers and bandwidth resources of CSDN are used to deliver the streaming and downloading kind of cloud services, and the dynamic allocation of their delivery resource is the main research emphasis in this paper. This paper first models the problem to be a multi-dimensional facility location problem, according to the two characteristics: the memory resource and bandwidth resource of this kind of application are the bottleneck resource;the hot contents of this kind of application can be delivered using the Peer-to-Peer mechanisms. After the model analyzed and its NP-Complete proved, we then propose a heuristic algorithm. Finally, using the service delivery cost savings as the performance metrics, while the actual system's operation trace is as the input, the effectiveness of the algorithm are comprehensively assessed.

Improved algorithm for reconstructing singular connection in multi-block CFD applications

An improved algorithm is proposed for the reconstruction of singular connectivity from the available pairwise connections during preprocessing phase. To evaluate the performance of the algorithm, an in-house computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code is used in which high-order finite-difference method for spatial discretization running on the Tianhe-1A supercomputer is employed. Test cases with a varied amount of mesh points are chosen, and the test results indicate that the improved singular connection reconstruction algorithm can achieve a speedup of 2000× at least when compared with the naive search method adopted in the former version of our code. Moreover, the parallel efficiency can benefit from the strategy of local communication based on the algorithm.

In distributed virtual environment (DVE) systems, a distributed server infrastructure is often used to reduce the latency between servers and clients. Under this infrastructure, mapping clients to proper servers is one of the key issues for improving the interactivity and overall performance. Most traditional methods of mapping the clients to servers only consider the load balancing problem. However, there are two other important aspects that should be involved: the physical world integrity and the virtual world integrity. In this work, we propose a novel mapping algorithm which takes care of all three aspects at the same time. The algorithm converts the mapping problem into cutting stage and matching stage to get optimal result with polynomial complexity. The experimental results show that our algorithm improves the overall performance of DVE systems significantly.

Effective hierarchical routing algorithm for large-scale wireless mobile networks

The growing interest in wireless mobile network techniques has resulted in many routing protocol proposals. The unpredictable motion and the unreliable behavior of mobile nodes is one of the key issues in wireless mobile network. Virtual mobile node (VMN) consists of robust virtual nodes that are both predictable and reliable. Based on VMN, in this paper, we present a hierarchical routing algorithm, i.e., EHRA-WAVE, for large-scale wireless mobile networks. By using mobile WAVE technology, a routing path can be found rapidly between VMNs without accurate topology information. We introduce the routing algorithm and the implementation issues of the proposed EHRA-WAVE routing algorithm. Finally, we evaluate the performance of EHRA-WAVE through experiments, and compare the performance on VMN failure and message delivery ratio using hierarchical and non-hierarchical routing methods. However, due to the large amounts WAVE flooding, EHRA-WAVE results in too large load which would impede the application of the EHRA-WAVE algorithm. Therefore, the further routing protocol focuses on minimizing the number of WAVE using hierarchical structures in large-scale wireless mobile networks. © 2014 Academy Publisher.

parallel programs face a new security problem - concurrency vulnerability, which is caused by a special thread scheduling instead of inputs. In this paper, we propose to automatically fix concurrency vulnerabilities by reducing thread scheduling space. Our method is based on two observations. First, most concurrency vulnerabilities are caused by atomicity violation errors. Second, reducing thread scheduling space does not harm the correctness of the original program. We designed a prototype runtime system shield using deterministic multithreading techniques. Shield is designed to transparently run parallel programs and schedule threads in large instruction blocks to prevent atomicity violation at best effort. In case some concurrency vulnerabilities cannot be fixed by shield's scheduling reducing scheme, we also provide a remedy strategy by integrating shield with record&replay function, so that it can help programmers to analyze attacker's behavior for manually fixing.

As the wide application of multi-core processor architecture in the domain of high performance computing, fault tolerance for shared memory parallel programs becomes a hot spot of research. For years, checkpointing has been the dominant fault tolerance technology in this field, and recently, many research works have been engaged with it. However, to those programs which deal with large amount of data, checkpointing may induce massive I/O transfer, which will adversely affect scalability. To deal with such a problem, this paper proposes a fault tolerance approach, making use of redundancy, for shared memory parallel programs. Our scheme avoids saving and restoring computational state during the program's execution, hence does not involve I/O operations, so presents explicit advantage over checkpointing in scalability. In this paper, we introduce our approach and the related compiler tool in detail, and give the experimental evaluation result.
