Chimera states in spatiotemporal dynamical systems have been investigated in physical, chemical, and biological systems, and have been shown to be robust against random perturbations. How do chimera states achieve their robustness? We uncover a self-adaptation behavior by which, upon a spatially localized perturbation, the coherent component of the chimera state spontaneously drifts to an optimal location as far away from the perturbation as possible, exposing only its incoherent component to the perturbation to minimize the disturbance. A systematic numerical analysis of the evolution of the spatiotemporal pattern of the chimera state towards the optimal stable state reveals an exponential relaxation process independent of the spatial location of the perturbation, implying that its effects can be modeled as restoring and damping forces in a mechanical system and enabling the articulation of a phenomenological model. Not only is the model able to reproduce the numerical results, it can also predict the trajectory of drifting. Our finding is striking as it reveals that, inherently, chimera states possess a kind of “intelligence” in achieving robustness through self-adaptation. The behavior can be exploited for the controlled generation of chimera states with their coherent component placed in any desired spatial region of the system.

The assessment of aircraft damage is a key technology in modern flight missions. For a kind of ultra low altitude aircraft, simulation study of the damage caused by the prefabricated fragments is carried out, which is based on the functional systems contained in the different components of the aircraft. In addition, the corresponding aircraft damage assessment simulation system is developed, which can complete the real-time damage calculation and quantify and classify the damage degree of the functional system. A new modeling idea and important research platform is provided for vulnerability assessment and damage assessment of specific targets. © 2017 IEEE.

A coupled thermal flow crystal growth model based on Lattice Boltzmann Method（LBM） is constructed for the internal melt in a single crystal furnace,according to the characteristic that the internal temperature distribution of the melt is difficult to *** the melt’s characteristic on the free surface boundary,the specular reflection scheme is used on the free *** flow pattern and the temperature of the internal melt under different growth environment are simulated by the proposed *** results show that,in the pure heating environment,the fiercer melt flows,the greater the temperature gradient below the crystal growth interface,and the more uneven the temperature distribution on the free surface;crystal rotation and crucible rotation reduce the temperature gradient below the growth interface,and improve the temperature distribution uniformity of the free *** simulation result is consistent with the experiment result,which proves the correctness of the simulation model and the boundary scheme on the free surface.

This article reviews the mainstream angular acceleration measurement techniques. Varieties of direct measurements, including rotational, solid mechanical inertial, fluid mechanical inertial, and microelectromechanical system angular accelerometer, are expanding in the practical applications of measurement and control systems. Recently researchers focus on microelec-tromechanical system and fluid-based sensors in light of increasing requirements for the measurement. In this review, we first investigated developments of angular acceleration measurements. Then we introduced one of the fluid-based sensors, a liquid-circular angular accelerometer, which is a novel angular sensor consisting of a porous transducer and an electrolyte solution chiefly. Eventually, we detailed recent works on this sensor's mechanism and the other aspects, e.g. significant properties of components and major research methodologies, and discussed its trade-off on performance with wide frequency, large dynamic range and high accuracy relatively, to show this sensor could bring advantages compared with other measurement methods.

Event-triggered consensus for linear continuous-time multi-agent systems based on a predictor

In this paper, the problem of an event-triggered consensus for a linear continuous-time multi-agent system is investigated. A new event-triggered consensus protocol based on a predictor is proposed to achieve consensus while not requiring continuous communication among agents. The predictor utilizes an artificial closed-loop system to predict the future state of each agent. With the proposed consensus protocol, each agent only needs to monitor its own states to determine its event-triggered instants. When an event of an agent is triggered, the agent immediately updates its consensus protocol and sends its state information to its neighbors. When an agent receives state information from its neighbors, the agent immediately updates its consensus protocol and predictor. A necessary and sufficient condition that solves the consensus problem is derived. Moreover, it is proved that Zeno behaviors are excluded. Finally, some numerical examples are given to illustrate that, with the proposed protocol, a multi-agent system can achieve consensus while greatly reducing event-triggered times.

Near minimum-time feedback attitude control with multiple saturation constraints for agile satellites

Agile satellites are of importance in modern aerospace applications, but high mobility of the satellites may cause them vulnerable to saturation during attitude maneuvers due to limited rating of actuators, This paper proposes a near minimum-time feedback control law for the agile satellite attitude control system. The feedback controller is formed by specially designed cascaded sub-units. The rapid dynamic response of the modified Bang Bang control logic achieves the near optimal property and ensures the non-saturation properties on three-axis. To improve the dynamic performance, a model reference control strategy is proposed, in which the oniline near optimal attitude maneuver path is generated by the cascade controller and is then tracked by a nonlinear back-stepping controller. Furthermore, the accuracy and the robustness of the control system are achieved by momentum-based on-line inertial identification. The rapid attitude maneuvering can be applied for tasks including the move to move case. Numerical simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in terms of the saturation-free property and rapidness.

Effective approach for outdoor obstacle detection by clustering LIDAR data context

A method of environment mapping using laser-based light detection and ranging （LIDAR） is proposed in this paper. This method not only has a good detection performance in a wide range of detection angles, but also facilitates the detection of dynamic and hollowed-out obstacles. Essentially using this method, an improved clustering algorithm based on fast search and discovery of density peaks （CBFD） is presented to extract various obstacles in the environment map. By comparing with other cluster algorithms, CBFD can obtain a favorable number of clusterings automatically. Furthermore, the experiments show that CBFD is better and more robust in functionality and performance than the K-means and iterative self-organizing data analysis techniques algorithm （ISODATA）.

Observer-based output feedback control of networked control systems with non-uniform sampling and time-varying delay

This paper investigates the problem of observer-based output feedback control for networked control systems with non-uniform sampling and time-varying transmission delay. The sampling intervals are assumed to vary within a given interval. The transmission delay belongs to a known interval. A discrete-time model is first established, which contains time-varying delay and norm-bounded uncertainties coming from non-uniform sampling intervals. It is then converted to an interconnection of two subsystems in which the forward channel is delay-free. The scaled small gain theorem is used to derive the stability condition for the closed-loop system. Moreover, the observer-based output feedback controller design method is proposed by utilising a modified cone complementary linearisation algorithm. Finally, numerical examples illustrate the validity and superiority of the proposed method.

The real-time state estimation becomes greatly important with the wide application of phasor measurement unit (PMU) in distributed generation (DG) for wide-area measurement systems (WAMS). In view of estimation, particle filter (PF) is capable of providing the best performance but at the cost of heavy computation burden. Besides, the growing grid size sustainably boosts the amount of data communication from PMU, causing the congestion. An event-trigger master-slave nonlinear filter (ET-MSNF) is proposed to guarantee the estimation accuracy and get the communication bandwidth relieved. The local slave filter at the generator node carries out the local estimation and event-trigger strategy using unscented transformation, which is identical to the center slave. The master filter at the center is designed using Monte Carlo method to improve the center's estimation accuracy by the cooperation with the center slave. Such master-slave filtering structure can fully utilize the computation capability both at the center and node. Simulation on the standard IEEE 39-bus system verify the performance of ET-MSNF.
