A New Analytical Solution for Tide-Induced Groundwater Fluctuations in An Unconfined Aquifer with A Sloping Beach

Deriving analytical solutions for tide-induced groundwater fluctuations in unconfined aquifers confronts two problems：（1） As the Boussinesq equation itself contains nonlinear terms, the ＂secular term＂ would be generated in derivation, thus making perturbation solution unable to be deduced to higher order; （2） for aquifers with sloping beaches, the perturbation parameter in existing analytical solution integrating the beach slope and hydrogeological property would be sometimes larger than 1. So the application of perturbation solutions is relatively limited. Furthermore, as the beach slope decreases, the error of analytical solution would gradually increase. Given that water table over-height would increase the aquifer thickness and speed up wave propagation, this paper integrates over-height into the perturbation parameter and adjusts boundary conditions to settle the problem of ＂secular term＂ and to derive a new high-order analytical solution for nonlinear Boussinesq equation in terms of sloping beaches. Results show that the new analytical solution is more reasonable, and the analytical accuracy is obviously improved in comparison with the existing analytical solution for a gentle slope. The new analytical solution provides a theoretical basis for analyzing the propagation characteristics （e.g., wave length and over-height variation） of tide-induced groundwater wave in unconfined aquifers, particularly those with sloping beaches.

A multi-agent decision network based on QMIX is proposed in this paper to cope with the coordination decision problem of multiple UAV air combat missions. To speed up the training process, three improvements are introduced: 1) An improved ϵ-decaying method that enable some tutor to help in action selection at the early stage of the training. This measure greatly improves the exploring efficiency when the network are far from being fully trained;2) State pruning and action mask measures are applied during the training. The former improves the effectiveness of the input state information, and the latter reduces unnecessary action exploring. 3) A gradually training configuration is used to make the training process more robust, where the combat adversaries are configured as the static targets, the randomly maneuver vehicles, and the Min-Max strategy vehicles respectively. The multi-UAV air combat scenarios are built up and the experiments are conducted. The results shows that these improvements have significantly improved training efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

Improved optimization for data disaster recovery system over low-bandwidth networks

Data generated by various fields are increasing exponentially and thus results in challenges for data performances in both scales of diversity and complexity. The problem how to solve the bottlenecks of low-bandwidth networks has been of fatal significance for all kinds of network status. We present a new approach on improved optimization for data disaster recovery system (DDRS) over low-bandwidth networks that not only aims to improve the defects and deficiencies of mainstream DDRS but also helps ensure the reliable network resources for operators to conduct multi-services. A novel bandwidth self-adaptive approach (BSAA) for data packing replication was essentially established to make contribution to the integral performance improvement. A Hidden Markov Model (HMM) for predicting network status was also built to ensure system availability and stability. Experiments showed that the DDRS over low-bandwidth networks named InfoDr can effectively optimize the workload with better performance and better application self-adaptability for multi-services.

Food systems are deeply affected by climate change and air pollution, while being key contributors to these environmental challenges. Understanding the complex interactions among food systems, climate change, and air pollution is crucial for mitigating climate change, improving air quality, and promoting the sustainable development of food systems. However, the literature lacks a comprehensive review of these interactions, particularly in the current phase of rapid development in the field. To address this gap, this study systematically reviews recent research on the impacts of climate change and air pollution on food systems, as well as the greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions from agri-food systems and their contribution to global climate change and air pollution. In addition, this study summarizes various strategies for mitigation and adaptation, including adjustments in agricultural practices and food supply chains. Profound changes in food systems are urgently needed to enhance adaptability and reduce emissions. This review offers a critical overview of current research on the interactions among food systems, climate change, and air pollution and highlights future research directions to support the transition to sustainable food systems.

In recent years, the development and deployment of the U.S. weapon equipment systems-of-systems (SoS) have yielded rich research results. However, there are still large gaps in the SoS development, joint testing, and design and acquisition of our own equipment SoS. The barriers of these steps have not yet been opened up. This article mainly analyzes the solutions of the U.S. weapon equipment SoS from three aspects, such as capability-based requirement generation and architecture design technology, interconnected-oriented integration test technology, and weapon equipment design and acquisition technology based on complex adaptive systems. We explore key technologies involved in order to form an overall understanding and explore related research approaches. © 2020 IEEE.

Linear-quadratic and norm-bounded combined differential game guidance scheme with obstacle avoidance for attacking defended aircraft in three-player engagement

A differential game guidance scheme with obstacle avoidance,based on the formulation of a combined linear quadratic and norm-bounded differential game,is designed for a three-player engagement scenario,which includes a pursuer,an interceptor,and an *** confrontation between the players is divided into four phases(P1-P4)by introducing the switching time,and proposing different guidance strategies according to the phase where the static obstacle is located:the linear quadratic game method is employed to devise the guidance scheme for the energy optimization when the obstacle is located in the P1 and P3 stages;the norm-bounded differential game guidance strategy is presented to satisfy the acceleration constraint under the circumstance that the obstacle is located in the P2 and P4 ***,the radii of the static obstacle and the interceptor are taken as the design parameters to derive the combined guidance strategy through the dead-zone function,which guarantees that the pursuer avoids the static obstacle,and the interceptor,and attacks the ***,the nonlinear numerical simulations verify the performance of the game guidance strategy.

With the increasing role of distributed message systems (DMS) represented by Kafka in handling large-scale data streams, it is critical to improve system performance by optimizing configuration parameters in different production environments. Due to the target system possessing numerous configuration parameters and the complex interactions between them, parameter optimization becomes a complex and time-consuming process that relies heavily on human effort and an iterative trial-and-error approach. At present, this type of configuration parameter problem has been classified as the Configuration of Distributed Message systems (CDMS) problem, for which the goal is to obtain the optimal set of parameters for achieving the best performance. In order to deal with this complex problem, an automatic optimization method is proposed in this paper, which combines an automatic script-based deployment and running framework with an improved Genetic Algorithm (GA) in cooperation with the Random Forest (RF) and statistical methods, named the Directional-Mutation Genetic Algorithm (DMGA). The framework and algorithm are designed to find the best configuration efficiently, obtaining optimal parameters accurately without human supervision. Actual results of comparison experiments based on the Kafka system show that the DMGA algorithm significantly improves the data throughput performance of Kafka, and its optimization speed is more efficient than the basic GA, highlighting its potential to quickly optimize Kafka's operational efficiency in different scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a tightly integrated navigation system combining global positioning system (GPS) and inertial-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for UAV platforms. GPS raw measurements, called pseudorange and pseudorange rate, are directly fused to an inertial SLAM filter. A compressed form of unscented filtering is implemented by partitioning the map into a local and global one. The performance of the proposed method is analysed using a high-fidelity 6-degrees-of-freedom simulator, demonstrating accurate and robust navigation even under a single satellite observation. The information gain of bearing and elevation angles is further analysed offering effective sensing strategies. © 2018 Australasian Robotics and Automation Association. All rights reserved.
