Ramie(Boehmeria nivea)is noted for the production of a large biomass that has a high protein content and is rich in *** may thus serve as a high-quality forage material to replace alfalfa and improve the meat quality of farmed *** this study,we evaluated the carcass characteristics and meat quality of goats when 0,35%,75%,and 100%of dietary alfalfa was replaced with *** protein content(linear,P<0.0001)and key muscle color values at 24 h after slaughter decreased with increasing ramie *** content of most individual amino acids,non-essential amino acids(NEAA),total amino acids(TAA),branched chain amino acids(BCAA),functional amino acids(FAA),and flavor amino acids(DAA)decreased(P<0.05)with increasing dietary *** diet in which 35%of alfalfa was replaced with ramie yielded meat with the highest amino acid content,whereas the fatty acid profile was unaffected by the inclusion of *** results indicate that ramie could be used as a potential dietary forage resource for goats,and that substituting 35%of alfalfa with ramie,which is equivalent to 126 g/kg DM content,would be optimal in terms of goat meat quality.

Coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP) is an occupational disease caused by prolonged exposure of coal miners to coal dust particles. The inflammatory cytokine interleukin-8 (IL-8) is considered to be a potential biomarker of CWP. Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4), a zinc-finger transcription factor, is involved in a variety of immune response processes in vivo. However, the mechanism by which KLF4 regulates IL-8 expression remains unclear. The aim of this study is to investigate the regulatory effect of KLF4 on IL-8 expression, and the potential mechanism of KLF4 mediating immune response in CWP. Through case-control study and in vitro cell experiments, we found that the expression levels of both KLF4 and IL-8 were significantly upregulated with the increasing dust exposure concentration and duration. Transient silencing and overexpression of KLF4 further confirmed that KLF4 positive regulatory effect on IL-8 expression. In addition, KLF4 overexpression cells exhibited higher histone acetylation levels, indicating that the activation of chromatin enhancers promotes IL-8 gene transcription. Dual luciferase reporter assay and ChIP-seq results showed that KLF4 activated IL-8 transcription by specifically binding to its promoter and promoting chromatin remodeling. The transcription factor KLF4 plays an important role in the immune response induced by dust exposure by positively regulating the expression of IL-8. This study provides new insights into the immune mechanism underlying CWP and identifies potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the early diagnosis and treatment of CWP. © 2025, The Authors. Herein, a Ni–Cu atom-pair catalyst with well-defined electron orientation has been tailored for electrocatalytic CO2RR. In particular, the tailored Ni/Cu0.38–covalent triazine framework catalyst exhibited extremely high catalytic activity with high faradaic efficiency (99.82% at −1.1 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE) and turnover frequency (5116 h−1 at −1.1 V vs. RHE). To the best of our knowledge, this is a diatomic catalyst with the lowest reported metal concentration and maximum efficiency and selectivity. Density functional theory calculations and experimental results further revealed that the adsorption of CO2 was enhanced, while the electron orientation from the Cu site to Ni site reduced the antibonding orbital coupling between Ni and C atoms in CO2, thereby breaking the protonation energy barrier and providing high catalytic efficiency. Moreover, the enrichment of electrons from the electrolyte as well as the accumulation of *H at Cu sites was essential for improving CO selectivity. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Exploiting metal chalcogenide-based photocatalysts has fascinated researchers as a source of green hydrogen (H2) energy. Herein, we have designed a novel selenium-enriched NiSe1+x/ZIS (NiSexZ) photocatalytic system via a two-step hydrothermal and facile photo-deposition method. It was fascinating to conclude here that the NiSexZ photocatalytic system showed boosted H2 evolution results in comparison with other sulphur-enriched NiS1+x/ZIS (NiSxZ) and tellurium-enriched NiTe1+x/ZIS (NiTexZ). The optimized NiSe0.5Z composite exhibited a photocatalytic H2 evolution of 3.24 mmol g -1 h -1, a 9.8-fold increase over pure ZIS and it demonstrated an apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of 2.06% via 420nm filter. Moreover, sulphur (S), selenium (Se), and tellurium (Te) synergistic active sites were exposed to promote H2 evolution reaction in this work. Given the significant advancements and commendable performance exhibited by the Se-Hads across the week bond, it is extremely probable that the NiSe1+x cocatalyst holds immense potential for the development of sophisticated photocatalytic materials. © 2024, The Authors. A novel continuous perception garment classification mechanism is proposed in this paper, with the aim to identify the correct category of the garment from a set of known categories. It has been observed that due to the severe folding and overlapped texture of garments, treating a video of the continuous deformation of cloth as a set of disordered static figures would be ineffective which leads to low classification precision performed by an image-based garment classifier. In contrast, a high-level decision making module that leverages the classification results of each single image would significantly increase the algorithm performance. In this paper, we incorporate the optical flow variation of deformable cloth between consecutive configurations as a representative of how it is traversing within the confidence interval of the image-based classifier. We claim that it is not the number of video frames but the sum of optical flow variation of the garment configuration between consecutive frames having the same category label that constitutes the belief of garment classification. In other words, if two consecutive visual appearances of the garment could be identified as the same category by the image-based classifier, then the more diverged that two configurations are, the more confident that the garment is correctly identified. Experimental comparisons between the state-of-the-art algorithm and the proposed algorithm in a public dataset have been provided which prove the validity of the proposed algorithm.

The study was to investigate the effect of early-weaning stress and proline(Pro)and putrescine(Put)supplementations on serum biochemical parameters and amino acids(AA)metabolism in suckling and post-weaning *** and small intestinal mucosa were harvested from suckling piglets at 1,7,14,and 21 d of age and piglets on d 1,3,5,and 7 after weaning at 14 d of age,as well as from piglets received oral administration of Pro and Put from 1 to 14 d *** suckling piglets,the serum glucose,albumin and total cholesterol levels were increased(P<0.05)with increasing age,whereas the serum globulin,urea nitrogen(BUN),alkaline phosphatase(ALP)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)levels were lowered(P<0.05).The concentrations of most serum AA and the AA transporters related gene expressions were highest in 7-d-old piglets(P<0.05),whereas the phosphorylation status of the mammalian target of the rapamycin(mTOR)signaling pathway in the small intestine increased in piglets from 1 to 21 d old(P<0.05).Weaning at 14 d old increased(P<0.05)the BUN and triglycerides levels in serum,as well as jejunal solute carrier family 7 member 6(SLC7A6),ileal SLC36A1 and SLC1A1 mRNA abundances at d 1 or 3 *** also inhibited(P<0.05)the phosphorylation levels of mTOR and its down-stream ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1(S6K1)and 4E-binding protein-1(4EBP1)in the small intestine of weanling *** administration of Put and Pro decreased(P<0.05)serum ALP levels and increased(P<0.05)intestinal SLC36A1 and SLC1A1 mRNA abundances and mTOR pathway phosphorylation levels in post-weaning *** but not Put treatment enhanced(P<0.05)serum Pro,arginine(Arg)and glutamine(Gln)concentrations of *** findings indicated that early-weaning dramati-cally altered the biochemical blood metabolites,AA profile and intestinal mTOR pathway activity,and Pro and Put supplementations improved the AA metabolism and transportation as well as activated the intestinal mTOR pathway in weanling-pigs.

To accurately predict the development degree of coal spontaneous combustion (CSC), the CSC process was investigated using a programmed high-temperature-heating experimental system, and the variation law of index gas concentration in the holistic process of CSC and oxidation is formulated. Additionally, the accuracy of the experimental system was evaluated using experimental design for thermal analysis, and the correlation between gas index and apparent activation energy was determined using grey correlation analysis. The results indicated the following. In the critical temperature stage (0–100 °C), φ(CO)/φ(CO2) should serve as the main index and C2H4 should serve as the auxiliary index;in the crack-active-speedup temperature stage (100–260 °C), CO and φ(C2H4)/φ(C2H6) should serve as the main index and R1, the Graham index, and φ(C2H4)/φ(CH4) should serve as auxiliary indexes;in the speedup-ignition temperature stage (260–370 °C), R2 and the Graham index should serve as main indexes and φ(CO)/φ(CO2), C2H4, and R1 should serve as auxiliary indexes;in the ignition temperature (370–500 °C), R3 should serve as the main index and R2, the Graham index and C2H4 should serve as auxiliary indexes. Among them, the grey correlation degrees among the Graham index, Grignard fire coefficient, and apparent activation energy were the highest, reaching 0.91. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

The levels of legacy per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have been progressively growing in the environmental matrices and blood of residents living around the fluorochemical industrial park (FIP) in Fuxin of China over the past decade. Although some recent studies have reported occurrence of novel PFAS alternatives in biotic and abiotic matrices near fluorochemical facilities worldwide, little is known about novel PFAS congeners in maternal sera, umbilical cord sera, and placentas from the female residents close to the FIP and their possibly related health risks. In the present study, 50 paired samples of maternal and cord serum as well as placenta were derived from Fuxin pregnant women at delivery, and 21 target analytes of legacy PFASs in all the samples were analyzed via high-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS), revealing that PFBS, PFBA, and PFOA were the dominant PFAS contaminants observed in the whole samples with an overall increasing trend recently. Based upon the suspect screening through high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), 49 novel PFASs assigned to 11 classes were further identified in the Fuxin samples, of which, 20 novel congeners in 4 classes were reported in human blood and placentas for the first time. Moreover, the coefficients for mother-placenta transfer (Rm/p), placenta-newborn transfer (Rp/n), and mother-newborn transfer (Rm/n) of legacy PFASs could be calculated with median values of 1.7, 1.1, and 2.0, respectively, and Rm/p, Rp/n, and Rm/n for each novel PFAS identified were also estimated with the median values of 0.9, 1.2, and 0.8 individually. Subsequently, possible biotransformation pathways of legacy PFSAs and PFCAs during placental transfer could also be proposed. In addition, significant correlations were determined among the neonate birth outcomes and serum concentrations of thyroid hormone, sex hormone, and glucocorticoid, together with the levels of certain legacy and novel PFASs in
