Constructing a novel three-dimensional multi-stage pore structure to facilitate heavy metal adsorption on ceramsite

A novel FAU type zeolitized ceramsite (FZC) was prepared via a novel three dimensional (3D) in-pore growth method. FZC is a centimeter sized spherical particle with a 3-dimensional radial morphology inside, with a specific surface area and pore volume 6 and 30 times that of the original ceramsite, respectively. The unique structure was constructed through electrostatic and polymerization interactions between hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) micelles, ceramic pore walls and silicate aluminate ions, which could simultaneously improve adsorption capacity and mass transfer, endowing FZC with excellent heavy metal adsorption properties. FZC-50 could remove the majority of Cu and Zn from solution within shorter periods (73.3 % and 80.0 % of original ceramsite, respectively) with larger adsorption capacities (3400 % and 3700 % of original ceramsite, respectively). Theoretical analysis and regeneration experiments both indicate that the adsorption of Cu(II) and Zn(II) on FZC-50 is dominated by ion exchange. And the spent sorbent can be effectively regenerated by NaCl, and the cycle number is expected to be 33 and 26 times for Cu(II) and Zn(II) adsorption, respectively. This work proposed a novel synthesis route to construct a 3D multi-stage porous zeolite inside ceramsite, and opened up new ideas for the further development of zeolitized ceramsite.

In recent years, scholars have conducted in-depth researches on the robustness, structural vulnerability, and detection and identification of devices in cyberspace from different perspectives such as complex networks and cyberspace resource mapping. Aiming at the problem of identifying important nodes on a large-scale Internet, a CETCRank algorithm for identifying important Internet nodes based on unsupervised learning is proposed. When the algorithm analyzes the attributes of each cyberspace equipment, it not only considers the graph structure characteristics based on the network topology, but also integrates the threat metric of cyberspace equipment. Based on the hypothesis of the cyber attack model, the effective identification of important nodes in the Internet can be realized by integrating the node attributes into the constructed Markov chain model. Experiments show that the time and space complexity of the CETCRank algorithm is suitable for analyzing large-scale Internet, and the recognition performance of important nodes is better than the PageRank algorithm.

Considering the presence of both body fluids and haloacetic acids (HAAs) in swimming pool waters (SPWs), as well as the potential for interaction among these substances and membranes, we have initiated a systematic investigation into the impact of body fluid analogue (BFA) on membrane performance. The minor impact of BFA on the rejection behavior of NF90 was attributed to its dominant effect of size exclusion. However, for NF270, 30 mg/L BFA increased water flux by 5%, decreased NaCl rejection from 59% to 47%, and decreased HAA rejection from 88% to 75%. The carboxyl-based components, including citric acid (CA) and hippuric acid (HA), were mainly responsible for the varied performance. Carboxyl-based components reduced the negative charge on membrane surfaces, increased the effective pore size and hydrophilicity, resulting in an increase in water flux and a decrease in NaCl and HAA rejection. The amine-based components (other BFA components with CA, HA, and salt excluded) did not directly influence the membrane performance, but their effect became remarkable under the coexistence of carboxyl-based components. The amine-based components neutralized the effect of the carboxyl-based components by forming hydrogen bonds. The practical applications of membrane technologies for water purification can be better predicted by the underlying mechanism for resolving the interaction between polyamide membranes, organic substances, and trace contaminants. © 2023, The Authors. In this work, we investigate the finite-time boundedness (FTB) problem for a class of continuous-time uncertain systems via sliding mode control (SMC) method. A dynamic event-triggered scheme is introduced to determine whether the measurement output will be transmitted. And then, a state observer is designed by means of the transmitted output information, based on which a sliding surface in the estimation space is construct. It is shown that the corresponding SMC law can drive the system trajectories onto the specified sliding surface in a finite (possibly short) time. Meanwhile, a partitioning strategy is introduced to analyze the FTB over both reaching phase and the sliding motion, respectively. Finally, a numerical simulation is given.

The resulting disinfection byproducts (DBPs) and residual antiviral drugs, acting as genotoxic substances or their precursors, may pose risks to aquatic animals and drinking water sources; however, to date, no studies have analyzed the changes in genotoxicity in the Yangtze River before and after the epidemic. In the present study, water and sediment samples from the Yangtze River were collected during different seasons, just before and after the outbreak of COVID-19, and were assessed using the SOS/umu test (with and without liver S9). The results indicated that water samples exhibited more pronounced genotoxicity than did sediments, with direct genotoxicity being the primary factor. Additionally, there were significant regional differences, with notably greater genotoxicity observed in the upper Yangtze River than in the lower reaches before the COVID-19 epidemic. However, this trend was reversed six to ten months later, suggesting the accumulation of DBPs or antiviral drugs after the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the risk quotient indicated that 65% of the water samples posed a high risk forParamecium caudatum, whereas 71% of the samples posed a medium risk forDanio rerio, thereby representing a potential threat to the ecological security of the Yangtze River. Evacuation control of Crowds of Pedestrians: Distributed or Decentralized? ⁎

Evacuation of crowds in a corridor with only one exit has been considered in this paper where distributed controllers have been constructed to regulate the crowd’s evacuation speed so that stampede tragedy can be avoided. Macroscopic model for crowds of pedestrians has been firstly derived based on inspiration of LWR (Lighthill-Whitham and Richards) model and Greenshields model from traffic system where finite volume method has been introduced to simplify the obtained PDEs into finite ODEs. Distributed evacuation controllers have been constructed based on inspiration of multi-agent system and stability analysis of obtained closed-loop system has been simplified to linear system with the delicate controllers proposed. Comparisons between distributed evacuation controllers and previous evacuation controllers have also been presented to show the advantages and disadvantages of different controllers under different initial density of crowds so that tragedy of crowd stampede can be effectively avoided with appropriate selection of different controllers.

This work aimed to experimentally compare the effects of blended fuels (C2H6, C2H4, CO, and H2 mix in different proportions) on the explosion pressure behavior of methane and blended fuels in air. The explosion pressure properties of the mixtures were tested in a spherical 20 L gas explosion tank at ambient temperature. Principal component analysis was employed to investigate the effects of each combustible gas on *** on the experimental results, multiple regression models were developed to predict the influences of principal components on the maximum explosion pressure of CH4. In addition, the CHEMKIN software was used to analyze and compare the normalized sensitivity, sensitivity variation, and normalized sensitivity variation analysis. For the fuel-lean CH4-air mixture, the results demonstrated that the P max of the mixed gases increased, as the volume fraction of the blended fuels increased. The effects of other gases on the equivalence ratio φ =0.72 followed the order C2H6>C2H4>H2>CO. The (dP/dt)max measured with the addition of mixed gases increased by 162.75%, 140.76%, 80.97% and 108.99%, respectively. For stoichiometric concentrations (φ =1), the order of the degree of influence degree was H2>CO>C2H6>C2H4, and the Pmax of the mixed gases tended to decrease slightly. The (dP/dt)max measured after the addition of the blended fuels decreased by 46.07%, 39.05%, 26.59% and 8.9%, respectively. As the volume fraction of the blended fuels was increased to 2%, the Pmax of CH4 showed a decreasing trend for the fuel-rich CH4-air mixture. The effects of blended fuels on the equivalence ratio of φ =1.1 followed the order C2H4>H2>CO>C2H6. The (dP/dt)max measured with the addition of blended fuels decreased by 88.55%, 81.45%, 79.4% and 70.46%, respectively. The sensitivity variation analysis and normalized sensitivity variation analysis indicated that the chain branching reaction 2CH3(+M)C2H6(+M) was the most sensitive reaction under various conditions. Terahertz (THz) metasurfaces based on toroidal dipoles exhibit significant potential in biosensing applications. This study presents a polarization-insensitive THz metasurface biosensor designed with a fourfold rotationally symmetric toroidal dipole structure, consisting of a circular ring and four split-ring resonators. By exploiting the low-loss and polarization-insensitive properties of toroidal dipoles, the proposed sensor achieves significant electromagnetic field magnification and high sensitivity of biomolecular detection in the THz regime. Numerical simulation demonstrates a refractive index sensitivity of 721 GHz/RIU, while experimental measurements of cell suspensions indicate a sensitivity of 400 kHz/(cell/mL). The polarization-insensitive response, analyzed through multipole decomposition theory, is attributed to the balanced electromagnetic characteristics of the structure, which ensures consistent excitation of toroidal dipoles and magnetic quadrupoles across different polarization angles. For quantitative analysis, partial least squares (PLS) and support vector regression (SVR) methods are utilized to analyze liver cell lines (HepG2 and Miha), achieving high predictive accuracy with a mean squared error of 0.083. This work circumvents the polarization dependence observed in conventional THz biosensors and proposes an innovative approach for developing high-performance biosensing devices. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

In order to solve the problems of poor real-time performance and single display method in traditional unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) orthographic image mosaic, this paper proposes a real-time updating technology of local area orthoimages based on 3D digital earth, which can be widely used in the fields of emergency rescue, environmental monitoring and military *** technology is that in the process of UAV aerial photography, the server receives sequence aerial image in real time and synchronously completes orthographic image splicing, then automatically cuts them into regular image tiles and transmits the regular image tiles to the display terminal in an incremental manner. The display terminal software constructs a 3D digital earth based on quadtree LOD algorithm, and updates the terrain texture of the target range with the received high-definition orthographic image tiles, so as to realize real-time coverage monitoring of key areas. In this paper, the above work is verified by real aerial images, and the results prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the work.

Cylindrospermopsin (CYN) is one of the most frequently monitored and identified cyanotoxins worldwide, but the drivers of its occurrence and the ecological and human health risks in aquatic ecosystems are still to be fully explored. In this study, a meta-analysis of the Literature-Data-Analysis framework was utilized to mine the data of CYN and its associated parameters from all existing publications. Overall, 104 peer-reviewed articles investigating CYN presence until 2021 in a total of 507 aquatic ecosystems across 40 countries have been identified, and of these, 57.8% (n=293) in 31 countries tested positive. To analyze the ecological drivers of CYN presence, quantile regression was used instead of traditional ordinary-least-squares regression to ensure better quantification of cause-effect relationships. The results showed that the key drivers differed at different quantiles and high water temperature, ammonia, and dissolved inorganic phosphorus were responsible for excessively high CYN concentrations. Additionally, ecological and human health risk assessment for CYN were also conducted. Generally, the ecological risk of CYN was low, but the identified human health risk was a cause for concern. This study adds to a scientific basis for the prevention, control, and risk management process of CYN from a data-supported perspective on the global scale. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
