Computing Open-Loop Optimal control of the q-Profile in Ramp-Up Tokamak Plasmas Using the Minimal-Surface Theory

The q-profile control problem in the ramp-up phase of plasma discharges is consid- ered in this work. The magnetic diffusion partial differential equation （PDE） models the dynamics of the poloidal magnetic flux profile, which is used in this work to formulate a PDE-constrained op-timization problem under a quasi-static assumption. The minimum surface theory and constrained numeric optimization are then applied to achieve suboptimal solutions. Since the transient dy- namics is pre-given by the minimum surface theory, then this method can dramatically accelerate the solution process. In order to be robust under external uncertainties in real implementations, PID （proportional-integral-derivative） controllers are used to force the actuators to follow the computational input trajectories. It has the potential to implement in real-time for long time discharges by combining this method with the magnetic equilibrium update.

This paper focuses on the problem of adaptive output feedback stabilization for a class of stochastic nonlinear system with unknown control *** using a linear state transformation,the unknown control coefficients are lumped together, such that the original system is transformed to a new system for which control design becomes *** employing the inputdriven observer,a novel adaptive neural network(NN) output-feedback controller which only contains one adaptive parameter is developed for such systems by using backstepping technique and NNs' *** proposed control design guarantees that all the signals in the closed-loop systems are 4-moment semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded.

Analyzing the characteristics of "East Turkistan" activities using text mining and network analysis

Open source intelligence, with rich content and sophisticated collection and analytical techniques, is an alternative data source in many anti-terrorism studies and has manifested significant applicable prospects. In this paper, we take the "East Turkistan" separatist activities as the research objects and collect the data from the world wide web by utilizing web crawlers. We adopt text analysis techniques to extract the information of four fundamental elements of "East Turkistan" separatist activities, including person, organization, time and place, and then construct multi-mode networks according to the relations between concepts. To analyze the characteristics of these networks, we first apply the approach of dimensional decomposition to separate the multimode networks into single vertex sub-networks and bipartite sub-networks, distinguish the importances of different types of nodes by measuring the centrality of each sub-network, and synthesize the centrality index of each sub-network to form an importance composite index (ICI). To further identify the core nodes of the four types of nodes in the network, we adopt the k-shell decomposition method to directly decompose the multi-mode network. We find that the results produced by these approaches presented above can be in accord with the actual ones. ©, 2014, Acta Automatica Sinica. All rights reserved.

Biped walking on level ground with torso using only one actuator

It is well known that a biped robot needs actuators to walk stably on level *** now,a biped robot with torso has needed at least two actuators to achieve *** it be possible for this kind of robot to walk on level ground with only one actuator?This paper responds in the afrmative and proposes a simple control strategy for a planar biped robot with *** this control method,there is only one low gain proportional-derivative(PD)controller between the torso and the stance leg,while the swing leg remains totally *** PD controller utilizes states of both the torso(angle and angular velocity)and the stance *** numerical simulations show that,by adopting this controller,a planar biped robot with torso can walk stably on level ground,and that the robot can walk with a wide range of speeds and high energy efciency by changing the control *** period-one gaits,one of which is stable while the other three are unstable,are found by *** to the literature surveyed,we are the first to have a torso only driven biped robot walk stably on level ground.

A Glucose sensor based on glucose oxidase immobilized by electrospinning nanofibrous polymer membranes modified with carbon nanotubes

A glucose biosensor based on glucose oxidase immobilized by electrospinning nanofibrous membranes has been developed. Nanofibrous membranes were electrospun from the solution of poly(acrylonitrile-co-acrylic acid) containing carbon nanotubes suspension and directly deposited on Pt electrodes for immobilizing glucose oxidase. The morphologies and structure of the nanofibrous membranes with or without carbon nanotubes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The fabrication parameters of nanofibers were optimized such as thickness of the nanofibrous membranes and mass ration of carbon nanotubes. The biosensor showed the relationship with a concentration range of 0.1-10 mM and response time was 60 s. The sensitivity of carbon nanotubes modified biosensors was two times larger than which of no carbon nanotubes modified ones. The pH effect, interference and lifetime of biosensors were discussed. © 2013 by IFSA.

Geochemical Characters of Water Coproduced with Coalbed Gas and Shallow Groundwater in Liulin Coalfield of China

To reveal the geochemical characters of water coproduced with coalbed gas and shallow groundwater,water samples were collected from 12 wells of coalbed methane and 7 wells of shallow *** pH,CODMn,fCO2,total dissolved solids （TDS）,total hardness,and concentrations of metasilicic acid,sodium and kalium,calcium ion,magnesium ion,ammonium iron,bicarbonate ion,carbonate,chloride,sulfate ion,nitrate ion,fluoride,lithium,zinc,nickel,manganese,iron,boron,barium,*** the samples were *** results showed the following：（1） Concentrations of TDS,chloride,fluoride,sodium and kalium,ammonium,iron,and barium in the water coproduced with coalbed gas exceeded the national standards of China; however,physical,chemical,and biological properties of shallow groundwater could meet the national standard.（2） The water produced from coalbed contained mainly Na-Cl·HCO3,with average TDS of 4588.5 ppm,whereas shallow groundwater contained a mixture of chemicals including ***-HCO3·SO4 and ***-HCO3·SO4,with average TDS of 663.8 ppm.（3） In general,it was observed that bicarbonate and sodium accumulated in a reducing environment and deeper system,while depletion of hydrogen ions and dissolution of sulfate,calcium,and magnesium occurred in a redox environment and shallow system.（4） Sodium and kalium,ammonium,chloride,and bicarbonate ions were the main ions found in the study area.

Background: Mass spectrometry (MS) has evolved to become the primary high throughput tool for proteomics based biomarker discovery. Until now, multiple challenges in protein MS data analysis remain: large-scale and complex data set management;MS peak identification, indexing;and high dimensional peak differential analysis with the concurrent statistical tests based false discovery rate (FDR). "Turnkey" solutions are needed for biomarker investigations to rapidly process MS data sets to identify statistically significant peaks for subsequent validation. Findings. Here we present an efficient and effective solution, which provides experimental biologists easy access to "cloud" computing capabilities to analyze MS data. The web portal can be accessed at. Conclusions: Presented web application supplies large scale MS data online uploading and analysis with a simple user interface. This bioinformatic tool will facilitate the discovery of the potential protein biomarkers using MS. © 2013 Ji et al.;licensee BioMed Central Ltd.

As iron and steel products demand becomes increasingly diversified and batch reduced, make-to-order production has gradually satisfied the demand of modern iron and steel enterprises. It is significant for optimization of the make-to-order production planning to guarantee punctual delivery considering inventory, production capacity, processes and product specification. A multi-objective mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model is formulated to optimize the production, and a hybrid particle swarm optimization algorithm is developed to solve the model. A case study based on the order data of a steel and iron enterprise is presented. Compared with the optimization strategy upon particle swarm optimization and manual scheduling, the proposed optimization model and strategy effectively reduce losses caused by back order, inventory storage and unbalanced production capacity, and provide a reference and guidance for the operation.

In order to extend the visible light response of ZnO, ZnO/Cu S nanocomposite with heterostructure was prepared by a simple two-step hydrothermal synthesis. The as prepared ZnO/Cu S heterostructured nanocomposite was characterised by SEM, photoluminescence, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. On the other hand, chitosan is considered as a very promising natural biopolymer. It holds not only abundant resource and low cost but also has excellent adsorption properties to a broad range of organic pollutants and some heavy metal *** improve the adsorption properties of ZnO/Cu S heterostructured nanocomposite, a water soluble chitosan containing carboxyl groups was synthesised with graft *** modification of ZnO/Cu S heterostructured nanocomposite was carried out utilising the self-assembly process between hydroxyl groups of ZnO/Cu S nanocomposite and carboxyl groups of water soluble chitosan. Comparative tests before and after surface modification were performed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. To examine the surface and interface properties of nanocomposites, chemical prototype sensor arrays were constructed based on ZnO, ZnO/Cu S nanocomposite, and ZnO/Cu S nanocomposite modified with chitosan containing carboxyl groups and quartz crystal microbalance devices. The adsorption response behaviours of the sensor arrays to some typical volatile compounds were examined. The results indicated that, with comparison to ZnO nanostructure, the ZnO/Cu S nanocomposite exhibited enhanced adsorption properties to some typical volatile compounds dramatically, and the effect of one layer modification on the surface adsorption properties of ZnO/Cu S nanocomposite is also very evident and useful, which provides a microenvironment of biocompatibility for ZnO/Cu S *** same time, ZnO/Cu S nanocomposite showed broadening visible light response and hence has good potential applications in new energy materials, photocatalysts
