Audio tagging aims to infer descriptive labels from audio clips. Audio tagging is challenging due to the limited size of data and noisy labels. In this paper, we describe our solution for the DCASE 2018 Task 2 general audio tagging challenge. The contributions of our solution include: We investigated a variety of convolutional neural network architectures to solve the audio tagging task. Statistical features are applied to capture statistical patterns of audio features to improve the classification performance. Ensemble learning is applied to ensemble the outputs from the deep classifiers to utilize complementary information. a sample reweight strategy is employed for ensemble training to address the noisy label problem. Our system achieves a mean average precision (mAP@3) of 0.958, outperforming the baseline system of 0.704. Our system ranked the 1st and 4th out of 558 submissions in the public and private leaderboard of DCASE 2018 Task 2 challenge. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As a new stage in the development of the cloud computing paradigm, serverless computing has the high-level abstraction characteristic of shielding underlying details. This makes it extremely challenging for users to choose a suitable serverless platform. To address this, targeting the jointcloud computing scenario of heterogeneous serverless platforms across multiple clouds, this paper presents a jointcloud collaborative mechanism called FCloudless with cross-cloud detection of the full lifecycle performance of serverless platforms. Based on the benchmark metrics set that probe performance critical stages of the full lifecycle, this paper proposes a performance optimization algorithm based on detected performance data that takes into account all key stages that affect the performance during the lifecycle of a function and predicts the overall performance by combining the scores of local stages and dynamic weights. We evaluate FCloudless on AWS, AliYun, and Azure. The experimental results show that FCloudless can detect the underlying performance of serverless platforms hidden in the black box and its optimization algorithm can select the optimal scheduling strategy for various applications in a jointcloud environment. FCloudless reduces the runtime by 23.3% and 24.7% for cold and warm invocations respectively under cost constraints.

In large-scale asynchronous distributed virtual environments(DVEs), one of the difficult problems is to deliver the concurrent events in a consistent order at each node. Generally, the previous consistency control approaches can be classified into two categories: causal order and time stamped order. However, causal order approaches can merely preserve the cause-effect relation of events and time stamped order approaches seem intrinsically complex to be used in serverless large-scale asynchronous DVEs. In this paper, we proposed a novel distributed algorithm to identify the concurrent events and preserve the consistent order delivery of them at different nodes. Simulation studies are also carried out to compare the performance of this algorithm with that of the previous ones. The results show that the new algorithm can effectively deliver the concurrent events in consistent order at each node and is more efficient than the previous algorithms in large-scale asynchronous DVEs. © 2010 IEEE.

In JointCloud computing, multi-party participation introduces complexity and uncertainty. For all participants in JointCloud computing, both continuous supervision and necessary privacy protection are required. Traditional supervision methods usually adopt the centralized information interaction mode, which has such defects as collusion of interests, single point of failure, privacy disclosure, etc. Building a decentralized supervision mechanism has become a new research direction. In this paper, we propose PPSS, a privacy-preserving supervision scheme based on blockchain, which decentralizes the supervision of the participants in JointCloud computing, and combines the “double encryptions” and “threshold encryption” technologies to provide privacy protection. While making full use of the decentralization of the blockchain, a committee is established to carry out the analysis and decision-making tasks in terms of supervision and privacy protection. Experimental results indicate that PPSS can balance performance and security by reasonably configuring the committee.

An improved algorithm for reconstructing singular connection in the multi-block cfd applications

In this paper, an improved algorithm is proposed for the reconstruction of singularity connectivity from the available pairwise connections during preprocessing phase. To evaluate the performance of our algorithm, an in-house CFD code, in which high-order finite-difference method for spatial discretization, running on the Tianhe-1A supercomputer is employed. Test cases with a varied amount of mesh points are chosen, and the test results indicate that the improved singular connection reconstruction algorithm can achieve a 2000× speedup at least compared with the naive search method adopt in the former version of our code. Moreover, the parallel efficiency can be benefited from the strategy of local communication based on the new algorithm. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper presents a load balancing method for a multi-block grids-based CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) application on heterogeneous platform. This method includes an asymmetric task scheduling scheme and a load balancing model. The idea is to balance the computing speed between the CPU and the coprocessor by adjusting the workload and the numbers of threads on both sides. Optimal load balance parameters are empirically selected, guided by a performance model. Performance evaluation is conducted on a computer server consists of two Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 CPUs and two MIC coprocessors (Xeon Phi 5110P and Xeon Phi 7120P) for the simulation of turbulent combustion in a supersonic combustor. The results show that the performance is highly sensitive to the load balance parameters. With the optimal parameters, the heterogeneous computing achieves a maximum speedup of 2.30 × for a 6-block mesh, and a maximum speedup of 2.66 × for a 8-block mesh, over the CPU-only computing.

HPDedup: A hybrid prioritized data deduplication mechanism for primary storage in the cloud

—Eliminating duplicate data in primary storage of clouds increases the cost-efficiency of cloud service providers as well as reduces the cost of users for using cloud services. Most existing primary deduplication techniques either use inline caching to exploit locality in primary workloads or use post-processing deduplication running in system idle time to avoid the negative impact on I/O performance. However, neither of them works well in the cloud servers running multiple services or applications for the following two reasons: Firstly, the temporal locality of duplicate data writes may not exist in some primary storage workloads thus inline caching often fails to achieve good deduplication ratio. Secondly, the post-processing deduplication allows duplicate data to be written into disks, therefore does not provide the benefit of I/O deduplication and requires high peak storage capacity. This paper presents HPDedup, a Hybrid Prioritized data Deduplication mechanism to deal with the storage system shared by applications running in co-located virtual machines or containers by fusing an inline and a post-processing process for exact deduplication. In the inline deduplication phase, HPDedup gives a fingerprint caching mechanism that estimates the temporal locality of duplicates in data streams from different VMs or applications and prioritizes the cache allocation for these streams based on the estimation. HPDedup also allows different deduplication threshold for streams based on their spatial locality to reduce the disk fragmentation. The post-processing phase removes duplicates whose fingerprints are not able to be cached due to weak temporal locality from disks. The hybrid deduplication mechanism significantly reduces the amount of redundant data written to the storage system while maintaining inline data writing performance. With the exponential growth of biomedical knowledge in unstructured text repositories such as PubMed, it is imminent to establish a knowledge graph-style, efficient searchable and targeted database that can support the need of information retrieval from researchers and clinicians. To mine knowledge from graph databases, most previous methods view a triple in a graph (see Fig. 1) as the basic processing unit and embed the triplet element (i.e. drugs/chemicals, proteins/genes and their interaction) as separated embedding matrices, which cannot capture the semantic correlation among triple elements. To remedy the loss of semantic correlation caused by disjoint embeddings, we propose a novel approach to learn triple embeddings by combining entities and interactions into a unified representation. Furthermore, traditional methods usually learn triple embeddings from scratch, which cannot take advantage of the rich domain knowledge embedded in pre-trained models, and is also another significant reason for the fact that they cannot distinguish the differences implied by the same entity in the multi-interaction triples. In this paper, we propose a novel fine-tuning based approach to learn better triple embeddings by creating weakly supervised signals from pre-trained knowledge graph embeddings. The method automatically samples triples from knowledge graphs and estimates their pairwise similarity from pre-trained embedding models. The triples are then fed pairwise into a Siamese-like neural architecture, where the triple representation is fine-tuned in the manner bootstrapped by triple similarity scores. Finally, we demonstrate that triple embeddings learned with our method can be readily applied to several downstream applications (e.g. triple classification and triple clustering). With the rapid growth of large language models, cloud computing has become an indispensable component of the AI industry. Cloud service providers(CSPs) are establishing AI data centers to service AI workloads. In the face of this surging need for AI computing power, building a connected computing environment across various clouds and forming a JointCloud presents an attractive solution. However, scheduling AI tasks across multiple AI data centers within a JointCloud environment presents a significant challenge: how to balance users’ demands while ensuring CSPs’ fairness in scheduling. Existing research primarily focuses on optimizing scheduling quality with limited consideration for fairness. Therefore, this paper proposes a Fairness-Aware AI-Workloads Allocation method (F3A), a fair cross-cloud allocation technique for AI tasks. F3A utilizes Point and Token to reflect both the resource status and historical task allocations of AI data centers, enabling the consideration of users’ multidimensional demands and facilitating fair task allocation across multiple centers. In order to better assess the fairness of scheduling, we also devised a fairness indicator(FI), based on the Gini coefficient to measure the fairness of task allocation. The experimental results demonstrate that F3A consistently maintains FI within 0.1 across various cluster sizes and different task quantities, representing an improvement of 76.45% compared to classical fair scheduling algorithms round-robin. F3A exhibits commendable performance in ensuring fairness in task allocation while also demonstrating effectiveness in cost reduction and enhancing user satisfaction.

Intention oriented itinerary recommendation by bridging physical trajectories and online social networks

Human itineraries are often initiated by some general intentions and will be optimized after considering all kinds of constraints and available information. This paper proposes a category-based itinerary recommendation framework to help the user transfer from intentions to itinerary planning, which join physical trajectories and information of location based social networks. The main contributions are: (1) Build the category based activity scheduling model;(2) Design and implement the category tree based POI (point or interest) query strategy and algorithm;(3) Propose the Voronoi graph based GPS trajectory analysis method to build traffic information networks;(4) Combine social networks with traffic information networks to implement category based recommendation by ant colony algorithm. The study conducts experiments on datasets from FourSquare and GeoLife project. A test on satisfaction of recommended items is also performed. Results show that the satisfaction reaches 80% in average.
