The implicitly coupled pressure-based algorithm is widely acknowledged for its superior convergence and robustness in solving incompressible flow problems. However, the increased expansion scale of equations and difficulty in solving the resulting equation system has limited the widespread use of the coupling algorithm. This paper presents an optimized block-SAMG method, referred to as Red-SAMG, to significantly reduce computational complexity and memory consumption. Our approach employs a parallel modified independent set algorithm, allowing each process to perform matrix coarsening individually. An aggressive coarsening strategy further reduces complexity to address larger-scale problems. We conducted numerical experiments on a serial two-dimensional backward-facing step case and a parallel three-dimensional tunnel between rod bundles in the reactor core problem. The results demonstrate that the Red-SAMG method with aggressive coarsening reduces solution time by 12\% on the backward-facing step case. For large-scale three-dimensional problems under the same parallel conditions, the Red-SAMG method shortens the solution time by 14\% compared to the existing SAMG method. The Red-SAMG method with aggressive coarsening further reduces solution time by 49\%. Our optimized Red-SAMG method effectively reduces the complexity of the linear system arising from the implicitly coupled algorithm. The aggressive coarsening strategy also represents a significant advancement in improving the computational efficiency of the SAMG method. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Regarding the non-negativity property of the magnitude spectrogram of speech signals, nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) has obtained promising performance for speech separation by independently learning a dictionary on the speech signals of each known speaker. However, traditional NM-F fails to represent the mixture signals accurately because the dictionaries for speakers are learned in the absence of mixture signals. In this paper, we propose a new transductive NMF algorithm (TNMF) to jointly learn a dictionary on both speech signals of each speaker and the mixture signals to be separated. Since TNMF learns a more descriptive dictionary by encoding the mixture signals than that learned by NMF, it significantly boosts the separation performance. Experiments results on a popular TIMIT dataset show that the proposed TNMF-based methods outperform traditional NMF-based methods for separating the monophonic mixtures of speech signals of known speakers.

HOSTA is an in-house high-order CFD software that can simulate complex flows with complex geometries. Large scale high-order CFD simulations using HOSTA require massive HPC resources, thus motivating us to port it onto modern GPU accelerated supercomputers like Tianhe-1A. To achieve a greater speedup and fully tap the potential of Tianhe-1A, we collaborate CPU and GPU for HOSTA instead of using a naive GPU-only approach. We present multiple novel techniques to balance the loads between the store-poor GPU and the store-rich CPU, and overlap the collaborative computation and communication as far as possible. Taking CPU and GPU load balance into account, we improve the maximum simulation problem size per Tianhe-1A node for HOSTA by 2.3X, meanwhile the collaborative approach can improve the performance by around 45% compared to the GPU-only approach. Scalability tests show that HOSTA can achieve a parallel efficiency of above 60% on 1024 Tianhe-1A nodes. With our method, we have successfully simulated China's large civil airplane configuration C919 containing 150M grid cells. To our best knowledge, this is the first paper that reports a CPUGPU collaborative high-order accurate aerodynamic simulation result with such a complex grid geometry.

Deep reinforcement learning for combinatorial optimization: Covering salesman problems

This paper introduces a new deep learning approach to approximately solve the Covering Salesman Problem (CSP). In this approach, given the city locations of a CSP as input, a deep neural network model is designed to directly output the solution. It is trained using the deep reinforcement learning without supervision. Specifically, in the model, we apply the Multi-head Attention to capture the structural patterns, and design a dynamic embedding to handle the dynamic patterns of the problem. Once the model is trained, it can generalize to various types of CSP tasks (different sizes and topologies) with no need of re-training. Through controlled experiments, the proposed approach shows desirable time complexity: it runs more than 20 times faster than the traditional heuristic solvers with a tiny gap of optimality. Moreover, it significantly outperforms the current state-of-the-art deep learning approaches for combinatorial optimization in the aspect of both training and inference. In comparison with traditional solvers, this approach is highly desirable for most of the challenging tasks in practice that are usually large-scale and require quick decisions. With the popularity of the Internet and the increase in the number of netizens, it is of great significance to effectively monitor and predict the negative network public opinion on social media platforms. Most mainstream negative network public opinion early warning models mainly focus on mining textual features, while neglecting the response and dissemination among netizens during the process of negative network public opinion fermentation. This is one of the important reasons for the accuracy bottleneck of them. This article proposes a negative network public opinion early warning model based on evolutionary feature mining. Firstly, by using entity linking techniques based on knowledge graphs, domain prior knowledge is supplemented for the text need to be analyzed for negative network public opinion. Then, the text sentiment features extracted based on long short-term memory networks and the evolutionary features extracted based on graph convolutional networks are fused through an enhanced-feature fusion method. Finally, the features are used for classification and early warning. Experimental results based on the Weibo public dataset show that the EFM model has higher early warning performance for negative network public opinion compared to other baseline models. The accuracy of this model is 0.959.

Since data outsourcing poses privacy concerns with data leakage, searchable symmetric encryption (SSE) has emerged as a powerful solution that enables clients to perform query operations on encrypted data while preserving their privacy. Dynamic SSE schemes have been proposed to handle update operations. However, it is shown that updates might increase the risk of information leakage. Meanwhile, to meet the requirement of real-world applications, it is desirable to have the searchable encryption scheme which supports both multiple clients and multi-keyword queries. To address these issues, this paper proposes MMDSSE, a multi-client forward secure dynamic SSE scheme that supports multi-keyword queries. MMDSSE allows the clients narrow down the results by providing an arbitrary subset of the entire archive, and thus suitable for cloud storage environment. Security analysis and experimental evaluations show that MMDSSE is secure and efficient.

Private Set Intersection (PSI) is one of the most important functions in secure multiparty computation (MPC). PSI protocols have been a practical cryptographic primitive and there are many privacy-preserving applications based on PSI protocols such as computing conversion of advertising and distributed computation. Private Set Intersection Cardinality (PSI-CA) is a useful variant of PSI protocol. PSI and PSI-CA allow several parties, each holding a private set, to jointly compute the intersection and cardinality, respectively without leaking any additional information. Nowadays, most PSI protocols mainly focus on two-party settings, while in multiparty settings, parties are able to share more valuable information and thus more desirable. On the other hand, with the advent of cloud computing, delegating computation to an untrusted server becomes an interesting problem. However, most existing delegated PSI protocols are unable to efficiently scale to multiple clients. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes MDPPC, an efficient PSI protocol which supports scalable multiparty delegated PSI and PSI-CA operations. Security analysis shows that MDPPC is secure against semi-honest adversaries and it allows any number of colluding clients. For 15 parties with set size of 2 20 on server side and 2 16 on clients side, MDPPC costs only 81 seconds in PSI and 80 seconds in PSI-CA, respectively. The experimental results show that MDPPC has high scalability.

In a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA), reactor core temperatures can rise rapidly, leading to potential fuel damage and radioactive material release. This research presents a groundbreaking method that combines the power of Monte Carlo Sampling and Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) to simulate and effectively address the challenging Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCA) in nuclear reactors. In the event of a LOCA, reactor core temperatures can soar rapidly, posing a significant threat to fuel integrity and potentially leading to the release of radioactive materials. By leveraging the strengths of both Monte Carlo Sampling and PINNs, this approach aims to provide a comprehensive and accurate simulation framework for assessing and mitigating the consequences of such accidents. The method yields high prediction accuracy (MAE: 0.033, RMSE: 0.098, R2: 0.814) and demonstrates robustness through transfer learning, maintaining strong performance (MAE: 0.064, RMSE: 0.163, R 2 : 0.735).

Efficient detection of dangling pointer error for C/C++ programs

Dangling pointer error is pervasive in C/C++ programs and it is very hard to detect. This paper introduces an efficient detector to detect dangling pointer error in C/C++ programs. By selectively leave some memory accesses unmonitored, our method could reduce the memory monitoring overhead and thus achieves better performance over previous methods. Experiments show that our method could achieve an average speed up of 9% over previous compiler instrumentation based method and more than 50% over previous page protection based method.

Logic diagnosis is a key step in yield learning. Multiple faults diagnosis is challenging because of several reasons, including error masking, fault reinforcement, and huge search space for possible fault combinations. This work proposes a two-phase method for multiple-fault diagnosis. The first phase efficiently reduces the potential number of fault candidates through machine learning. The second phase obtains the final diagnosis results, by formulating the task as an combinational optimization problem that is later iteratively solved using binary evolution computation. Experiments shows that our method outperforms two existing methods for multiple-fault diagnosis, and achieves better diagnosability (improved by $1.87\times$ ) and resolution (improved by $1.42\times$ ) compared with a state-of-the-art commercial diagnosis tool.
