Our daily life is changing by the smart objects, such as smart watches, smart phones etc. They make the cyber world and the physical world integrated by their abundant abilities of sensing, communication and computation etc. Focusing on a wide range of the integrated network, a statistical based strategy was introduced to get a special kind of link between objects, the statistical probability communication link. To get a maximized information spread probability for grouped people, this paper introduced a distributed, yet efficient algorithm naming DMPID algorithm, for finding a sub-network to spread people oriented inforamtion. The DMPID algorithm take the size of the selection and the information spread probability into account, and made a balance between the two parameters. Extended simulation showed that the DMPID algorithm performs well in different distributed networks.

As one knows, an event often consists of several actions while each action is atomic. Inspired by this insight, we propose a novel framework named Atomic-action-based Contrastive Network model (ACN) for weakly supervised temporal language grounding task to localize the query-related event moment in an untrimmed video, without access to any temporal annotations. Specifically, ACN first determines the accurate moment boundary of each action in a query-agnostic way. This can adequately exploit homogeneous visual cues while impeding the heterogeneity of the query from hurting the atomicity of visual action, i.e., action boundary. To effectively localize the query-related event, we seek the discriminative words in the given query, and explore a composite-grained contrastive module to retrieve those corresponding atomic actions in the common latent space across modalities. This boosts feature discrimination of visual event segment to remove irrelevant action video segments. Experiments on two popular datasets show the efficacy of our model.

The implicitly coupled pressure-based algorithm is widely acknowledged for its superior convergence and robustness in solving incompressible flow problems. However, the increased expansion scale of equations and difficulty in solving the resulting equation system has limited the widespread use of the coupling algorithm. This paper presents an optimized block-SAMG method, referred to as Red-SAMG, to significantly reduce computational complexity and memory consumption. Our approach employs a parallel modified independent set algorithm, allowing each process to perform matrix coarsening individually. An aggressive coarsening strategy further reduces complexity to address larger-scale problems. We conducted numerical experiments on a serial two-dimensional backward-facing step case and a parallel three-dimensional tunnel between rod bundles in the reactor core problem. The results demonstrate that the Red-SAMG method with aggressive coarsening reduces solution time by 12\% on the backward-facing step case. For large-scale three-dimensional problems under the same parallel conditions, the Red-SAMG method shortens the solution time by 14\% compared to the existing SAMG method. The Red-SAMG method with aggressive coarsening further reduces solution time by 49\%. Our optimized Red-SAMG method effectively reduces the complexity of the linear system arising from the implicitly coupled algorithm. The aggressive coarsening strategy also represents a significant advancement in improving the computational efficiency of the SAMG method. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

HOSTA is an in-house high-order CFD software that can simulate complex flows with complex geometries. Large scale high-order CFD simulations using HOSTA require massive HPC resources, thus motivating us to port it onto modern GPU accelerated supercomputers like Tianhe-1A. To achieve a greater speedup and fully tap the potential of Tianhe-1A, we collaborate CPU and GPU for HOSTA instead of using a naive GPU-only approach. We present multiple novel techniques to balance the loads between the store-poor GPU and the store-rich CPU, and overlap the collaborative computation and communication as far as possible. Taking CPU and GPU load balance into account, we improve the maximum simulation problem size per Tianhe-1A node for HOSTA by 2.3X, meanwhile the collaborative approach can improve the performance by around 45% compared to the GPU-only approach. Scalability tests show that HOSTA can achieve a parallel efficiency of above 60% on 1024 Tianhe-1A nodes. With our method, we have successfully simulated China's large civil airplane configuration C919 containing 150M grid cells. To our best knowledge, this is the first paper that reports a CPUGPU collaborative high-order accurate aerodynamic simulation result with such a complex grid geometry.

Calibrated One-class Classification for Unsupervised Time Series Anomaly Detection

Time series anomaly detection is instrumental in maintaining system availability in various domains. Current work in this research line mainly focuses on learning data normality deeply and comprehensively by devising advanced neural network structures and new reconstruction/prediction learning objectives. However, their one-class learning process can be misled by latent anomalies in training data (i.e., anomaly contamination) under the unsupervised paradigm. Their learning process also lacks knowledge about the anomalies. Consequently, they often learn a biased, inaccurate normality boundary. To tackle these problems, this paper proposes calibrated one-class classification for anomaly detection, realizing contamination-tolerant, anomaly-informed learning of data normality via uncertainty modeling-based calibration and native anomaly-based calibration. Specifically, our approach adaptively penalizes uncertain predictions to restrain irregular samples in anomaly contamination during optimization, while simultaneously encouraging confident predictions on regular samples to ensure effective normality learning. This largely alleviates the negative impact of anomaly contamination. Our approach also creates native anomaly examples via perturbation to simulate time series abnormal behaviors. Through discriminating these dummy anomalies, our one-class learning is further calibrated to form a more precise normality boundary. Extensive experiments on ten real-world datasets show that our model achieves substantial improvement over sixteen state-of-the-art contenders. © 2022, CC BY.

The high-quality network reconstruction from metabolites, enzymes and reactions is the first essential step for the studies on the metabolic networks. Previously the approach based on the KEGG/LIGAND database can only reconstruct the organism-level metabolic networks and the network quality is quite doubtful. In this paper we propose a new recursive approach to reconstruct metabolic networks. The data selection mechanism of KEGG/PATHWAY ensures that metabolic networks are parsimonious but reliable. The KO system makes it possible to generate networks hierarchically. The KEGG web service manages to keep the data up-to-date. Results of comparison with the previous approach show our new approach is practical and reliable.

Deduplication is a data redundancy elimination technique, designed to save system storage resources by reducing redundant data in cloud storage systems. With the development of cloud computing technology, deduplication has been increasingly applied to cloud data centers. However, traditional technologies face great challenges in big data deduplication to properly weigh the two conflicting goals of deduplication throughput and high duplicate elimination ratio. This paper proposes a similarity clustering-based deduplication strategy (named SCDS), which aims to delete more duplicate data without significantly increasing system overhead. The main idea of SCDS is to narrow the query range of fingerprint index by data partitioning and similarity clustering algorithms. In the data preprocessing stage, SCDS uses data partitioning algorithm to classify similar data together. In the data deletion stage, the similarity clustering algorithm is used to divide the similar data fingerprint superblock into the same cluster. Repetitive fingerprints are detected in the same cluster to speed up the retrieval of duplicate fingerprints. Experiments show that the deduplication ratio of SCDS is better than some existing similarity deduplication algorithms, but the overhead is only slightly higher than some high throughput but low deduplication ratio methods.

Two layered P2P model for semantic service discovery

In open Internet environment, it is inevitable that multiple ontologies coexist. Centralized service discovery mechanism becomes the bottleneck of SOC (service oriented computing), which results in poor scalability of system. Aiming at solving these problems, a two layered P2P based model for semantic service discovery is proposed in this paper. The model is based on ontology community and integrates iVCE (Internet-based virtual computing environment) core concepts into a P2P model. Based on this model, a service discovery algorithm composed of two stages and three steps is proposed. It matches services across communities as well as within community. Within a community, algorithm locates registers holding service information with a high probability of satisfying a request firstly. Then it captures semantic matching between service advertisements and service requests by logical reasoning. Service discovery across communities occurs according to some policies. The model is suitable for opening environment with coexistent multiple ontologies. Experimental results show that given an appropriate setting, the model can make a tradeoff between recall and responding time. In addition, the model will release the mean load of registers efficiently while holding recall.

Trust-worth multi-representation learning for audio classification with uncertainty estimation

Multi-view learning has been explored for audio classification tasks, exploiting different representations of audio signals, ranging from MFCC, CQT, to raw signals. The quality of each view may vary for different audio signals, and the appropriate uncertainty quantification for each view has not been fully explored. In this work, we explore a trusted multi-view learning framework for classification tasks in order to fully incorporate different views. Our framework consists of three parallel branches of Transformer architectures (Gammatone spectrogram, log-Mel and CQT) and they are combined using the uncertainty estimation of different branch. In addition to computing the classification probabilities, the uncertainty of each representation can also be obtained using the framework. We firstly calculate the evidence based on feature vectors to obtain the probabilities and the uncertainty of classification problems for Gammatone, log-Mel and CQT branch. By integrating the confidence from each of the different representations using the Dempster–Shafer theory, the classification framework can provide higher accuracy and confidence. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework, we conduct the experiments on the GTZAN dataset. The obtained results show that our method can reach the accuracy of 83.0%, which significantly outperforms single representation-based methods while providing uncertainty estimation for different views.

Lots of toolboxes of accelerating MatLab using GPU are available now[1], but, users are confused by which toolbox is best suitable for a particular task. Three toolboxes-Jacket, GPUmat, and parallel Computing Toolbox of MatLab are selected. For each toolbox, its advantages and pitfalls are reviewed, with an aim to allow the reader to identify which toolbox is appropriate for a given task. Strategies of whether a function should execute on GPU are given after a formula analysis. The analysis is also a framework for program automatically decides which function is cost-efficient to execute on GPU. A series of benchmark of different types of computing, including data transfer between GPU and CPU, data matrix Generation, matrix operation and GPU functions were tested in all three toolboxes. And the results show that Jacket is the best one. Some advices to improve the performance of toolboxes are given in the end.
