Atmospheric deposition of particulate organic nitrogen（ONp） is a significant process in the global nitrogen cycle and may be pivotally important for N-limited ***,past models largely overlo oked the spatial and chemical inhomogeneity of atmospheric ONpand were thus deficient in assessing global *** constructed a comprehensive global model of atmospheric gaseous and particulate organic nitrogen（ON）,including the latest knowledge on emissions and secondary *** this model,we simulated global atmospheric ONpabundances consistent with *** estimated global atmospheric ON deposition was 26 Tg N yr-1,predominantly in the form of ONp(23 Tg N yr-1)and mostly from wildfires（37%）,oceans（22%） and aqueous productions（17%）.Globally,ONpcontributed as much as 40% to 80% of the total N deposition downwind of biomass-burning *** ONpdeposition thus constituted the dominant external N supply to the N-limited boreal forests,tundras and the Arctic Ocean,and its importance maybe amplified in a future warming climate.

Unlocking the electrocatalytic activity of natural chalcopyrite using mechanochemistry

Manipulating the structure self-reconstruction of transition metal sulfide-based(pre)catalysts during the oxygen evolution reaction(OER) process is of great interest for developing cost-effective OER catalysts,which remains a central challenge. Here we realize a deep structure self-reconstruction of natural chalcopyrite to unlock its OER performance via mechanochemical activation. Compared with the manually milled counterpart(CuFeS_(2)-HM), the mechanically milled catalyst(CuFeS_(2)-BM) with a reduced crystallinity exhibits a 7.11 times higher OER activity at 1.53 V vs. RHE. In addition, the CuFeS_(2)-BM requires a low overpotential of 243 mV for generating 10 mA cm^(-2) and exhibits good stability over 24 h. Further investigations suggest that the excellent OER performance of CuFeS_(2)-BM mainly originates from the decreased crystallinity induced the in situ deep structure self-reconstruction of the originally sulfides into the electroactive and stable metal(oxy)hydroxide phase(e.g., a-Fe OOH) via S etching under OER conditions. This study demonstrates that regulating the crystallinity of catalysts is a promising design strategy for developing highly efficient OER catalysts via managing the structure self-reconstruction process, which can be further extended to the design of efficient catalysts for other advanced energy conversion devices. In addition, this study unveils the great potentials of engineering abundant natural minerals as cost-effective catalysts for diverse applications.

Terahertz (THz) wide-range phase manipulation has great promise for THz applications such as high-speed communications and phased arrays. Especially, the on-chip THz phase shifter can provide higher accuracy and a larger phase shift range than meta-surfaces. This paper proposes an on-chip THz phase shifter comprising reflective phase shifting and transmissive phase shifting structures. Each reflective or transmissive structure is assembled with two GaAs Schottky diodes. © 2024 IEEE.

Large envelope deformable aircraft pose higher requirements for guidance and control technology, requiring control law parameters to be able to adaptively optimize online based on flight uncertainty and dynamically enhance flight control capabilities. At present, coefficient freezing is commonly used in engineering to design typical feature work points, but in large envelope flight, there are more and more feature work points, and traditional design methods are more complex and highly dependent on manual experience;On the other hand, traditional gain scheduling methods can only switch preset control laws based on flight status. Once the control laws are deployed, their performance is solidified, and their adaptive ability is relatively limited, making it impossible to perform online optimization. This article adopts deep reinforcement learning to design a universal PI state feedback control law parameter self-learning architecture, achieving autonomous learning of control law parameters at different working points;At the same time, the trained parameter adjustment network is deployed together with the control law, and online learning optimization of control law parameters is achieved during flight based on the control effect, enhancing adaptive ability. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified using a specific pitch angle tracking control scenario as an example. © 2023 IEEE.

Large spatial shifts of reflected light beam off biaxial hyperbolic materials

Many optical systems that deal with polarization rely on the adaptability of controlling light reflection in the lithography-free nanostructure. In this study, we explore the Goos–H?nchen(GH) shift and Imbert–Fedorov(IF) shift in a biaxial hyperbolic film on a uniaxial hyperbolic substrate. This research statistically calculates and analyzes the GH shift and IF shift for the natural biaxial hyperbolic material(NBHM). We select the surface with the strongest anisotropy within the NBHM and obtain the complex beam-shift spectrum. By incorporating the NBHM film, the GH shift caused by a transversely magnetic incident-beam on the surface increases significantly compared with that on the uniaxial hyperbolic material. The maximum of GH shift can reach 86 λ0at about 841 cm-1when the thickness of NBHM is 90 nm, and the IF shift can approach 2.7 λ0for a circularly-polarized beam incident on a 1700-nm-thick NBHM. It is found that the spatialshift increases when a highly anisotropic hyperbolic polariton is excited in hyperbolic material, where the shift spectrum exhibits an oscillating behaviour accompanied with sharp shift peak(steep slope). This large spatial shift may provide an alternative strategy to develop novel sub-micrometric optical devices and biosensors.

The application of phased array to radar jammer is helpful to improve the effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) and the ability to counter multiple targets. Two-element cross-eye jammer based on phased array is significantly different from traditional two-element cross-eye jammer (TTCJ) and multiple-element cross-eye jammer (MCJ) in terms of antenna elements layout, circuit architecture and signal processing. However, there are no published literatures to analyse the principle of phased array two-element cross-eye jammer (PATCJ). Therefore, a mathematical model of PATCJ against mono-pulse radar is established in this paper, and the principle and feasibility of applying phased arrays to two-element cross-eye jammer are discussed. The cross-eye gain of PATCJ is derived. Besides, it is verified that the random selection of phase-shifting reference units (PRUs) will not affect the jamming performance of PATCJ. The research results of this paper have guiding significance for the engineering realization of PATCJ. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2023.
