Black phosphorus (BP) is a desirable anode material for alkali metal ion storage owing to its high electronic/ionic conductivity and theoretical capacity. In‐depth understanding of the redox reactions between BP and the alkali metal ions is key to reveal the potential and limitations of BP, and thus to guide the design of BP‐based composites for high‐performance alkali metal ion batteries. Comparative studies of the electrochemical reactions of Li + , Na + , and K + with BP were performed. Ex situ X‐ray absorption near‐edge spectroscopy combined with theoretical calculation reveal the lowest utilization of BP for K + storage than for Na + and Li + , which is ascribed to the highest formation energy and the lowest ion diffusion coefficient of the final potassiation product K 3 P, compared with Li 3 P and Na 3 P. As a result, restricting the formation of K 3 P by limiting the discharge voltage achieves a gravimetric capacity of 1300 mAh g −1 which retains at 600 mAh g −1 after 50 cycles at 0.25 A g −1 .

Infections by Cronobacter spp. are hazardous to infants since they can lead to neonatal meningitis, bacteremia, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Cronobacter spp. are frequently resistant to 13-1actam derivatives, macrolides, and aminoglycosides. In addition, multi-resistant strains have also been detected. In China, the isolation rate of Cronobacter spp. from commercial powdered infant formula （PIF） or follow-up formula （FUF） is relatively high. Nevertheless, clinical cases of Cronobacter infection have been ignored to date. Here we describe two cases of Cronobacter infection detected at the Wuhan Women and Children Medical Care Center Hospital （Wuhan City, China）. We provide the genomic analysis of the isolates and the antibiotic-resistance profiles of the two strains. The Cronobacter strains identified in this study were not susceptible to third-generation cephalosporins, aminoglycoside, and/or trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. Whole genome sequencing revealed various genes known to encode antibiotic resistance. Future studies are needed to determine whether the genes predicted in this study are functional. As with Enterobocter spp., the antibiotic resistance of Cronobocter is a serious issue that requires more attention.

Dynamics of opinions with social biases

This paper aims to provide a systemic analysis to social opinion dynamics subject to individual biases. As a generalization of the classical DeGroot social interactions, defined by linearly coupled dynamics of peer opinions that evolve over time, biases add to state-dependent edge weights and therefore lead to highly nonlinear network dynamics. Previous studies have dealt with convergence and stability analysis of such systems for a few specific initial node opinions and network structures, and here we focus on how individual biases affect social equilibria and their stabilities. First of all, we prove that when the initial network opinions are polarized towards one side of the state space, node biases will drive the opinion evolution to the corresponding interval boundaries. Such polarization attraction effect continues to hold under even directed and switching network structures. Next, for a few fundamental network structures, some important interior network equilibria are presented explicitly for a wide range of system parameters, which are shown to be locally unstable in general. Particularly, the interval centroid is proven to be unstable regardless of the bias level and the network topologies. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Influence of turbulence boundary condition on pollutant diffusion for a natural draft cooling tower with flue gas injection

The influence of the specification of turbulence model in equilibrium atmosphere boundary layer (ABL) on the numerical simulation of pollutant diffusion for a natural draft cooling tower with flue gas injection is investigated. The ABL must be considered due to the immense size of cooling tower. The flow field and pollutant distribution under the circumstance of different turbulence boundary conditions are predicted by solving Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations based on shear-stress transport (SST) k-ω turbulence model. The results indicate that the pollutant distribution remains almost unchanged when the turbulence boundary condition changed, it can be inferred that the turbulence boundary condition has little effect on the diffusion of pollutant for other Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) turbulence models. Since RANS cannot consider the fluctuation velocity, it is not very suitable for predicting the pollutant diffusion. To more accurately simulate the pollutant propagation and diffusion, the large eddy simulation (LES) model is needed.

Engineered nanoparticles (NPs) are being released into aquatic environments with their increasing applications. In this work, we investigated the interaction of CuO NPs with a floating plant, water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes). CuO NPs (SO mg/L) showed significant growth inhibition on both roots and shoots of E. crassipes after 8-day exposure, much higher than that of the bulk CuO particles (50 niga) and their corresponding dissolved Cu2+ ions (0.30 mg/L). Scanning electron and light microscopic observations showed that the root caps and meristematic zone of E. Crassipes were severely damaged after CuO NP exposure, with disordered cell arrangement and a destroyed elongation zone Of root tips. It is confirmed that CuO NPs could be translocated to shoot from both roots and submerged leaves. As detected by X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy analysis (XANES), CuO NPs were Observed in toots, submerged leaves, and emerged leaves. Cu2S and other Cu, species were also detected in these tissues, providing solid,evidence of the transformation of CuO NPs. In addition, stomatal closure was observed during, CuO NPs-leaf contact, which was induced by the :production of H2O2 and increased Ca level in leaf guard cells. These findings are helpful for better understanding the fate of NPs in aquatic plants and related biological respones.

Despite substantial declines since 2000, lower respiratory infections (LRIs), diarrhoeal diseases, and malaria remain among the leading causes of nonfatal and fatal disease burden for children under 5 years of age (under 5), primarily in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The spatial burden of each of these diseases has been estimated subnationally across SSA, yet no prior analyses have examined the pattern of their combined burden. Here we synthesise subnational estimates of the burden of LRIs, diarrhoea, and malaria in children under-5 from 2000 to 2017 for 43 sub-Saharan countries. Some units faced a relatively equal burden from each of the three diseases, while others had one or two dominant sources of unit-level burden, with no consistent pattern geographically across the entire subcontinent. Using a subnational counterfactual analysis, we show that nearly 300 million DALYs could have been averted since 2000 by raising all units to their national average. Our findings are directly relevant for decision-makers in determining which and targeting where the most appropriate interventions are for increasing child survival. © 2022, The Author(s).

The four stages of anneal induced changes in magnetic anisotropy and microwave resonance of FeCoBSi thin films

Amorphous Fe 66 Co 17 B 16 Si thin films deposited by DC magnetron sputtering have been annealed at various temperatures to investigate the microstructural, static and dynamic magnetization properties. Microwave permeability spectrum of the as-deposited films is intrinsically determined by the uniaxial in-plane anisotropy induced by an external magnetic field during deposition. After anneal, four stages are proposed to clarify the change of microwave permeability and its damping effect by means of surface morphology and magnetic property analysis. While the broadband ferromagnetic resonances for EMI shielding are achieved in our thin films, the complex process of grain and anisotropy refinements is revealed. Moreover, the effects of microstructural grain and macrostructural particle state on ferromagnetic resonance are discussed, to assist the future study and preparation of this kind of films.

Molecular Mechanics Poisson-Boltzmann Surface Area (MM-PBSA) is arguably the most popular method for free binding energy prediction since it is considerably more accurate than docking or scoring methods, but considerably less demanding than Free Energy Perturbation (FEP). In this review, the most important challenges and opportunities associated to this method were addressed and evaluated. The following conclusions were obtained: Accuracy of MM-PBSA calculations still strongly depends on the settings used for the prediction, the conditions in which Molecular Dynamics simulations (MD) are made, the conditions from which the experimental data are obtained, it depends on the presence of the complex structure and this method has also shown to be unable to provide accurate results for charged molecules. On the other hand, it presents many opportunities since many improvements were based on MM-PBSA calculations such as Single Amino Acid Mutation based change in Binding free Energy (SAAMBE), bootstrap, dampened Molecular Mechanics Poisson-Boltzmann Surface Area (dMM-PBSA), a high throughput method called g-mmpbsa, a method based on both MM-PBSA calculations and a scoring function, force fields for inhomogeneous protein specific environments and many other new ways of improving the accuracy of this promising method. This study intends to clarify what are the major trends in this field and thus contribute to increase MM-PBSA's applicability and efficiency. © 2017 IEEE.

Biexcitons are a manifestation of many-body excitonic interactions crucial for quantum information and quantum computation in the construction of coherent combinations of quantum states. However, due to their small binding energy and low transition efficiency, most biexcitons in conventional semiconductors exist either at cryogenic temperature or under femtosecond pulse laser excitation. Here we demonstrate room temperature, continuous wave driven biexciton states in CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals through coupling with a plasmonic nanogap. The room temperature CsPbBr3 biexciton excitation fluence (~100 mW/cm2) is reduced by ~1013 times in the Ag nanowire-film nanogaps. The giant enhancement of biexciton emission is driven by coherent biexciton-plasmon Fano interference. These results provide new pathways to develop high efficiency non-blinking single photon sources, entangled light sources and lasers based on biexciton states. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. Correcting the initialization of models with fractional derivatives via history-dependent conditions

Fractional differential equations are more and more used in modeling memory（history-dependent,nonlocal,or hereditary） *** initial values of fractional differential equations are define at a point,while recent works defin initial conditions over *** prove that the conventional initialization of fractional differential equations with a Riemann–Liouville derivative is wrong with a simple *** initial values were assumed to be arbitrarily given for a typical fractional differential equation,but we fin one of these values can only be *** show that fractional differential equations are of infinit dimensions,and the initial conditions,initial histories,are define as functions over *** obtain the equivalent integral equation for Caputo *** a simple fractional model of materials,we illustrate that the recovery behavior is correct with the initial creep history,but is wrong with initial values at the starting point of the *** demonstrate the application of initial history by solving a forced fractional Lorenz system numerically.
