Modern SSDs achieve low latency and high throughput by utilizing multiple levels of SSD parallelism. Fairness is also a critical design consideration in cloud environments and has inspired great interest in recent years to study it. However, we find that excessive striving for SSD parallelism can inadvertently harm the SSD fairness due to the striped data layout. We observe from our experimental analysis that some common access patterns in cloud loads (e.g., high-intensity I/O) are not addressed by SSD parallelism, which can affect both SSD parallelism and fairness. In this paper, we analyze two address mapping policies with orthogonal characteristics from SSD parallelism and fairness perspectives. Based on extensive experiments and observations, we schedule a hybrid address mapping policy to achieve fairness of SSDs in cloud environments by distinguishing different I/O access modes and cold/hot data, while ensuring SSD performance. Experimental results on the latest block-level I/O traces show that our approach significantly improves performance and fairness by up to 77.3% and 62.8%, respectively, over the previous schemes with negligible cost. Meanwhile, it can also reduce the write amplification by 23.5% to 33.5%. © 2024 IEEE.

This work presents an adaptive tracking guidance method for robotic fishes. The scheme enables robots to suppress external interference and eliminate motion jitter. An adaptive integral surge line-of-sight guidance rule is designed to eliminate dynamics interference and sideslip issues. Limited-time yaw and surge speed observers are reported to fit disturbance variables in the model. The approximation values can compensate for the system's control input and improve the robots' tracking ***, this work develops a terminal sliding mode controller and third-order differential processor to determine the rotational torque and reduce the robots' run jitter. Then, Lyapunov's theory proves the uniform ultimate boundedness of the proposed method. Simulation and physical experiments confirm that the technology improves the tracking error convergence speed and stability of robotic fishes.

Online Queue-Aware Service Migration and Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge Computing

Mobile edge computing (MEC) integrated with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) helps run a wide range of services implemented by Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) deployed at MEC networks. This emerging paradigm offers flexible edge resource management for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and improves service satisfaction of diverse applications. However, a critical challenge lies in processing extremely unpredictable and bursty traffic flow, especially in event-trigger sensing tasks. In this paper, we study queue-aware service migration and resource allocation in an MEC network, where different devices with different arrival patterns request different network services. To this end, we first formulate a novel long-term operation cost minimization problem subject to the stability of multiple queues by adopting a simultaneous migration scheme and determining resource allocation dynamically. To address the problem efficiently, we propose an online control framework to make decisions without any prior system *** first adopt the Lyapunov optimization technique to decompose the long-term optimization problem into multiper-slot subproblems. Then, we adopt a decoupled optimization algorithm based on the coordinate descent method and augmented Lagrangian method to solve the offline mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) subproblems. Extensive results reveal that the proposed online optimization framework can efficiently balance queue stability and cost consumption. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Mobile Crowdsensing (MCS) faces significant challenges in selecting tasks with expected high revenue and recruiting workers with expected high qualities to maximize overall utility. Existing approaches often assume the revenue of posting tasks or the quality of workers is determined, which limits their practical applicability. This paper tackles these challenges by modeling the long-term multi-task, multi-worker selection problem as a Two-Stage Multi-Armed Bandit (TS-MAB) problem under uncertainty. In each round, the MCS platform selects a long-term task from a pool and recruits the necessary workers, determining payments accordingly. We model the task selection phase as a MAB problem, and the worker recruitment phase, influenced by the task selection, as a Combinatorial MAB (CMAB) problem. We propose an extended Upper Confidence Bound (UCB)-based strategy and develop an incentive mechanism based on Auction theory, combined with TS-MAB (i.e., ATS-MAB), for unknown task selection and worker recruitment. Our mechanism theoretically guarantees truthfulness and individual rationality, with a theoretical analysis of its regret bounds. Furthermore, we introduce an adaptive incentive mechanism called AATS-MAB, which improves worker recruitment and quality updates, achieving higher total sensing quality and lower regret. Extensive simulations demonstrate the effectiveness and scalability of the proposed methods. © 2014 IEEE.

Although the number of exploitable vulnerabilities in software continues to increase, the speed of bug fixes and software updates have not increased accordingly. It is therefore crucial to analyze the source code and identify vulnerabilities in the early phase of software development. However, vulnerability location in most of the current machine learning-based methods tends to concentrate at the function level. It undoubtedly imposes a burden on further manual code audits when faced with large-scale source code projects. In this paper, a fine-grained source code vulnerability detection model based on Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) is proposed with the aim of locating vulnerabilities at the function level and line level. Our empirical evaluation on different C/C++ datasets demonstrated that our proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and achieves significant improvements even when faced with more complex, real-project source code. © 2023 Knowledge systems Institute Graduate School. The rational design of materials at atomic scale as efficient and stable electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is critical for energy ***,we report a novel hybrid nanostructure with iridium(Ir)and cobalt(Co)atomic pair configuration anchored in porous nitrogen-doped carbon(pNC)nanosheets(denoted as IrCo-pNC)for electrocatalytic *** investigations and theoretical calculations reveal that the interaction between Ir and Co species in pNC promotes electron accumulation and depletion around isolated Ir and Co atoms,respectively,resulting in a local asymmetry electron density *** functional theory calculations also suggest that the electrons transfer from Co to adjacent Ir atom causing the down shift of the d-band center of Ir 5d in IrCo-pNC catalyst,thus optimizing the adsorption of hydrogen on Ir *** as-prepared IrCo-pNC exhibits significant HER performance with an overpotential of 21 mV to achieve a current density of 10 mA·cm^(−2)in 0.5 M *** work provides insight into the role of asymmetry electron density distribution in nanomaterials in regulating HER electrocatalysis.
