Coal dust is a fugitive and combustible pollutant leading to risks of both explosion and air pollution. Dust explosions are one of the most serious potential disasters in coal mining operations. A substantial literature on coal mine safety covers issues related to the origin, distribution, and transport of coal dust. This paper conducted a review of recent theoretical and experimental literature that are related to the current status and progress in coal dust management strategies. Empirical models and simulations have been used to investigate how dust concentration and particle sizes impact dust propagation in areas prone to dust production, such as mechanised mining faces. The key characteristics of coal dust that are vital for their generation, dispersion, and associated risks are summarised. Better understanding of these characteristics can lead to more effective control in coal dust and hence improved health outcomes for workers and reduced risks at an industry-wide level. Some gaps in the research literature were identified, such as those regarding dust-settling and dedusting. Current research efforts are primarily concentrated on systems, such as water injection, spray dust suppression, ventilation, and dust collector. The advantages and limits of different methods for dust management are compared. Biological dedusting, a novel technology that is still in its early stage, was also reviewed. The paper also discussed potential areas of future research that were needed. © 2024 The Institution of Chemical Engineers

Single phase 0.76(Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.5))TiO_(3)–0.24SrTiO_(3) ferroelectric ceramics have been synthesized with homogenous anatase and hierarchical rutile TiO_(2) raw reactants(BNST-A and BNST-R).Either calcined powder persists the microstructure characteristics of raw *** the result,when the sintering temperature increases from 1000 to 1200℃,the average grain size and density of BNST-A increase from 0.49 to 1.48μm and 5.02 to 5.61 g/cm^(3),while those of BNST-R from 0.86 to 1.44μm and 5.37 to 5.61 g/cm^(3).BNST-A illustrates a predominant ergodic relaxor state,and BNST-R prefers a non-ergodic relaxor state,as evidenced by the distinct polarization-electric field loops and current-electric field ***,such a distinct ferroelectric state is independent of sintering *** is believed that the special hierarchical microstructure of rutile TiO_(2) reactant is beneficial to form denser ceramics with larger grains,and thus suppresses the contributions of polar nanoregions and defect-induced built-in field to ferroelectric property,leading to non-ergodic relaxor *** work clearly demonstrates the nonnegligible effects of TiO_(2) reactants on the microstructure and properties of BNST ferroelectric ceramics.

The unmanned lunar rover exploration mission is generally carried out in the way of ground tele-operation, in which the ground control center cooperates with the rover uniformly to complete the scientific detection target. The operations team must generate the future plan composed of activities in timelines for rover and each post of the ground control center. Due to the uncertainty of the lunar environment and temporal constraints, the traditional manual mission planning method is no longer adapt to the special demand. This paper proposes an automatic mission planning method for the tele-operation of lunar exploration rovers, which realizes the path planning of navigation points and activities planning at each navigation point. The interior and external constraints of activities are analyzed, and the domain modeling is described by the object-orient planning modeling language. Using the sequential backtracking strategy in the planning database, the planning result meeting various constraints is gradually obtained through conflict resolution, and the scientific exploration goal is completed on the basis of the initial task state. It is verified by experiments that the execution performance of our method meets the mission requirements practically, and the effectiveness of this method is confirmed. This method can be used in other planetary exploration missions such as Mars rover exploration. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Cylindrical linear motors have broad application prospects in the fields of rail transportation, precision medicine, and vertical lifting. At the same time, these occasions require the motor to run smoothly with low noise. Therefore, it is of key significance to analyze the vibration characteristics of the motor, the stator of the new type cylindrical linear motor is composed of multi-layer cylindrical shells, and its vibration characteristics can be obtained by equivalent simplification processing of thin-walled cylindrical shells. This paper constructs the corresponding analysis model for calculation the natural frequency of a thin-walled cylindrical shells. Based on the analytical model, influence of important parameter such as length, wall thickness, and mid-plane diameter of cylindrical linear motor on its vibration characteristics is studied. The relevant analysis and calculation methods and conclusions are verified by finite element simulation, which can provide reference for subsequent design of cylindrical linear motors. © VDE VERLAG GMBH ∙ Berlin ∙ Offenbach.

The purchase cable transfers the kinetic energy of aircraft to arresting gear in landing process, which can realize the short-distance deceleration and stopping of aircraft. Purchase cable is in a complex stress condition in the working process, especially at the joint root. Therefore, the fracture of the steel wire due to fatigue at the root of joint is of the main failure mode for purchase cable. In this paper, the rain-flow counting method and the K-means clustering theory are used to extract cyclic stress load spectrum under different working conditions based on the tension data of purchase cable joint in arresting test. Finally, the fatigue life calculation is carried out by using Palmgren-Miner linear damage accumulation theory. The predicted lifetime of purchase cable obtained under different working conditions is in a good agreement with the actual service life of purchase cable. In conclusion, it is clearly shown that the above two prediction methods can estimate the service life of purchase cable with high accuracy and efficiency. © 2022 IET Conference Proceedings. Aiming at the problem that the traditional degradation prediction method of insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules is difficult to be effectively applied under changing working conditions, a IGBT module degradation prediction method suitable for changing working conditions is proposed. Firstly, the aging test of IGBT modules is carried out by using a modified variable working conditions power cycle test platform. Secondly, the aging feature parameters and working condition influence parameters are selected through analyzing. Then, a degradation prediction method for IGBT modules under changing working conditions is presented based on Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). Finally, the dataset collected by the test platform are used to verify the proposed method. The results show that compared with Long-Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network, GRU has lower complexity and greater efficiency. Meanwhile, the prediction accuracy of GRU is almost the same as LSTM. © 2022 IEEE.

In integrated energy systems, load forecasting has become increasingly significant on the background of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. This study aims to apply a probabilistic learning method, i.e. sparse Bayesian learning, to achieve day-ahead and week-ahead load forecasting. Different from previous studies, the proposed method integrates multiple regression with SBL method by using it as a weather forecasting step while the whole learning and prediction process is based on feature engineering and moving window techniques. Test cases are conducted on historical load data from New York Independent System Operator (NYISO). In terms of prediction performance, the SBL-based hybrid method outperforms single relevance vector machine (RVM), artificial neural network and multiple regression method on load forecasting. © 2022 IEEE.

Metasurface has piqued the interest of researchers due to its unprecedented flexibility in manipulating electromagnetic waves (EMs), allowing it to accomplish a wide spectrum of unique capabilities, such as polarization conversion, anomalous reflection and cross section reduction etc. Radar Cross section (RCS) is the most critical concept in radar detection technology, which characterizes the strength of the echo generated by the target under radar wave irradiation. The RCS is lower, and the effectiveness of radar detection is weaker, making it more difficult for the target to be detected, tracked, and attacked. One simple way to realize RCS reduction is by using metasurface with gradient phase to generate anomalous reflection and scattering. However, when the incident angle increases, it has obviously been discovered that such a reflector experiences a decline in efficiency and the design procedure becomes difficult, so deep learning is proposed to contribute to metasurface design. In this work, we report the design of a broadband anomalous reflection and RCS reduction metasurface under large angle oblique incidence. Firstly, we provide two phase gradient metasurface with a 180 degree phase shift in the frequency band from 8 GHz to 12 GHz. Furthermore, generalized snell's law is proposed to configurate the metasurface. To achieve intelligent design, we have designed two neural networks, i.e., a forward prediction network (FPN) and an inverse design network (IDN) to improve the design efficiency. Finally, we demonstrate a broadband anomalous reflection and RCS reduction metasurface under large angle oblique incidence from 8 GHz to 12 GHz, which performs well compared with the previous designs. © 2024 IEEE.

The parallel operation of three-level inverters can increase the power rating for flywheel energy storage system. However, the zero-sequence circulating current inevitably emerges owing to the excitation of the common-mode voltage difference, which can lead to current distortion and system loss. In addition, parallel three-level inverters have nonlinear characteristics, which can affect the zero-sequence circulating current. Therefore, a novel circulating current suppression strategy with zero-sequence voltage injection is proposed in this paper. A nonlinear equivalent model of the common-mode voltage difference is developed. Then, the zero-sequence voltage injection method is used to suppress the zero-sequence circulating current. Compared with the traditional suppression strategy, the novel strategy can achieve better performance. Simulation and experimental results prove the validity of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the proposed strategy. © 2022 IEEE.
