A reliable,efficient and electrically-pumped Si-based laser is considered as the main challenge to achieve the integration of all key building blocks with silicon *** the impressive advances that have been made in developing 1.3-μm Si-based quantum dot(QD)lasers,extending the wavelength window to the widely used 1.55-μm telecommunication region remains *** this study,we develop a novel photonic integration method of epitaxial growth of III-V on a wafer-scale InP-on-Si(100)(InPOS)heterogeneous substrate fabricated by the ion-cutting technique to realize integrated lasers on Si *** ion-cutting plus epitaxial growth approach decouples the correlated root causes of many detrimental dislocations during heteroepitaxial growth,namely lattice and domain *** this approach,we achieved state-of-the-art performance of the electrically-pumped,continuouswave(CW)1.55-μm Si-based laser with a room-temperature threshold current density of 0.65 kA/cm^(-2),and output power exceeding 155mW per facet without facet coating in CW *** lasing at 120℃ and pulsed lasing at over 130℃ were *** generic approach is also applied to other material systems to provide better performance and more functionalities for photonics and microelectronics.

Cu/Cr co-stabilization mechanisms in a simulated Al_(2)O_(3)-Fe_(2)O_(3)-Cr_(2)O_(3)-CuO waste system

Chromium slag usually contains various heavy metals,making its safe treatment *** sintering has been applied to resolve this issue and emerged as an effective method for metal immobilization by incorporating heavy metals into stable crystal ***,there is limited knowledge about the reaction pathways adopted by multiple heavy metals and the co-stabilization functions of the crystal *** study the Cu/Cr co-stabilization mechanisms during thermal treatment,a simulated system was prepared using a mixture with a molar ratio of Al_(2)O_(3):Fe_(2)O_(3):Cr_(2)O_(3):CuO=1:1:1:*** samples were sintered at temperatures 600–1300℃ followed by intensive analysis of phase constitutions and microstructure development.A spinel phase(CuFe_(x)Al_(y)Cr_(2–x–y)O_(4))started to generate at 700℃ and the incorporation of Cu/Cr into the spinel largely complete at 900℃,although the spinel peak intensity continued increasing slightly at temperatures above 900℃.Fe_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3) was more easily incorporated into the spinel at lower temperatures,while more Al_(2)O_(3) was gradually incorporated into the spinel at higher ***,sintered sample microstructures became more condensed and smoother with increased sintering ***/Cr leachability substantially decreased after Cu/Cr incorporation into the spinel phase at elevated *** 600℃,the leached ratios for Cu and Cr were 6.28%and 0.65%,*** sintering temperature was increased to 1300℃,the leached ratios for all metal components in the system were below 0.2%.This study proposes a sustainable method for managing Cu/Cr co-exist slag at reasonable temperatures.

Adaptive Enhanced Global Intra Prediction for Efficient Video Coding in Beyond VVC

Global intra prediction (GIP), including intra-block copy and template matching prediction (TMP), exploits the global correlation of the same image to improve the coding efficiency. In Beyond VVC, TMP uses template matching to determine the reference blocks for efficient prediction. There usually exists an error between the coding block and reference blocks, caused by the content mismatch or the coding distortion of the reference blocks. We propose an enhancement over the reference blocks, namely enhanced GIP (EGIP). Specifically, we design an enhanced filter according to the templates of the coding block and the reference blocks, with the reconstructed template of the coding block as the label for supervised learning. To support different enhancements, we design two types of inputs, i.e., EGIP based on neighboring samples (N-EGIP) and EGIP based on multiple hypothesis references (M-EGIP). Experimental results show that, based on enhanced compression model (ECM) version 8.0, N-EGIP achieves BD-rate reductions of 0.37%, 0.42%, and 0.40%, and M-EGIP brings 0.34%, 0.37%, and 0.34% BD-rate savings for Y, Cb, and Cr components, respectively. A higher coding gain, 0.46%, 0.54%, and 0.52% BD-rate savings, can be achieved by integrating N-EGIP and M-EGIP together. Owing to the coding gain and small complexity increase, the proposed EGIP has been adopted in the exploration of Beyond VVC and integrated into its reference software. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Ga_(2)O_(3)is a promising material for deep-ultraviolet(DUV)photodetectors due to its ultra-wide bandgap and high thermal and chemical ***,because of their relatively low responsivity,Ga_(2)O_(3)-based photodetectors still have difficulty meeting the requirements of practical ***,we construct a high-performance Ga_(2)O_(3)photodetector realized by *** high-crystallinity epitaxially grown Ga_(2)O_(3)as the DUV absorbing layer and the double-polished Al_(2)O_(3)substrate as the transparent window for injection of photons,the device operating in the back-illuminated mode exhibits a higher DUV photoresponse and faster response speed than in the front-illuminated ***,our experimental results have led to the development of a novel strategy for designing and fabricating high-performance Ga_(2)O_(3)photodetectors.

In fluorescence microscopy,computational algorithms have been developed to suppress noise,enhance contrast,and even enable super-resolution(SR).However,the local quality of the images may vary on multiple scales,and these differences can lead to *** mapping methods fail to finely estimate the local quality,challenging to associate the SR scale ***,we develop a rolling Fourier ring correlation(rFRC)method to evaluate the reconstruction uncertainties down to SR *** visually pinpoint regions with low reliability,a filtered rFRC is combined with a modified resolution-scaled error map(RSM),offering a comprehensive and concise map for further *** demonstrate their performances on various SR imaging modalities,and the resulting quantitative maps enable better SR images integrated from different ***,we expect that our framework can become a routinely used tool for biologists in assessing their image datasets in general and inspire further advances in the rapidly developing field of computational imaging.

All laser direct writing process for temperature sensor based on graphene and silver

A highly sensitive temperature sensing array is prepared by all laser direct writing(LDW)method,using laser induced silver(LIS)as electrodes and laser induced graphene(LIG)as temperature sensing layer.A finite element analysis(FEA)photothermal model incorporating a phase transition mechanism is developed to investigate the relationship between laser parameters and LIG properties,providing guidance for laser processing parameters selection with laser power of 1–5 W and laser scanning speed(greater than 50 mm/s).The deviation of simulation and experimental data for widths and thickness of LIG are less than 5%and 9%,*** electrical properties and temperature responsiveness of LIG are also *** changing the laser process parameters,the thickness of the LIG ablation grooves can be in the range of 30–120μm and the resistivity of LIG can be regulated within the range of 0.031–67.2Ω・*** percentage temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR)is calculated as−0.58%/°***,the FEA photothermal model is studied through experiments and simulations data regarding LIS,and the average deviation between experiment and simulation is less than 5%.The LIS sensing samples have a thickness of about 14μm,an electrical resistivity of 0.0001–100Ω・m is insensitive to temperature and pressure ***,for a LIS-LIG based temperature sensing array,a correction factor is introduced to compensate for the LIG temperature sensing being disturbed by pressure stimuli,the temperature measurement difference is decreased from 11.2 to 2.6°C,indicating good accuracy for temperature measurement.

The Ba_(12)ReNb_(9)O_(36)(Re=Yb,Ce,Tm,Er,Y,Ho,Dy,Gd)ceramics are synthesized by solid-phase reaction *** phase composition,crystal structure,microstructure,and microwave dielectric properties of the ceramics are investigated by X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,Scanning electron microscopy and Raman *** optimal microwave dielectric properties(ε_(r)=37.23,Q×f=36600 GHz,andτ_(f)=34 ppm/℃)are obtained for Ba_(12)YbNb_(9)O_(36) ceramic sintered at 1420℃for 6 *** this system,the variation of dielectric constant is dominated by *** Q×f is mainly affected by internal strain/fluctuation of *** variation of τ_(f) is related to the temperature coefficient of dielectric constant and the oxygen octahedron ***,the reduction of Ce^(4+) ions,the relative density,linear thermal expansion coefficient,and the second phase are also important factors affecting microwave dielectric properties.

Flow and thermal modeling of liquid metal in expanded microchannel heat sink

Liquid metal-based microchannel heat sinks (MCHSs) suffer from the low heat capacity of coolant, resulting in an excessive temperature rise of coolant and heat sink when dealing with high-power heat dissipation. In this paper, it was found that expanded space at the top of fins could distribute the heat inside microchannels, reducing the temperature rise of coolant and heat sink. The orthogonal experiments revealed that expanding the top space of channels yielded similar temperature reductions to changing the channel width. The flow and thermal modeling of expanded microchannel heat sink (E-MCHS) were analyzed by both using the 3-dimensional (3D) numerical simulation and the 1-dimensional (1D) thermal resistance model. The fin efficiency of E-MCHS was derived to improve the accuracy of the 1D thermal resistance model. The heat conduction of liquid metal in Z direction and the heat convection between the top surface of fins and the liquid metal could reduce the total thermal resistance (Rt). The above process was effective for microchannels with low channel aspect ratio, low mean velocity (Um) or long heat sink length. The maximum thermal resistance reduction in the example of this paper reached 36.0%. The expanded space endowed the heat sink with lower pressure, which might further reduce the pumping power (P). This rule was feasible both when fins were truncated (h_(2) < 0, h_(2) is the height of expanded channel for E-MCHS) and when over plate was raised (h_(2) > 0).

Investigating the interplay between lipid oxidation and digestion of Antarctic krill oil: Focusing on the influence of emulsification capacity

The impact of lipid oxidation on the digestive efficiency of Antarctic krill oil (AKO) was explored， with a focus on the relationship between emulsification efficiency and digestive efficiency. AKO samples underwent oxidation were assessed using a simulated gastrointestinal model. Lipid oxidation was found to significantly reduce emulsification efficiency， as evidenced by a lower density of emulsified lipid droplets in oxidized AKO compared to fresh AKO during simulated intestinal digestion， as observed via optical microscopy and cryo-scanning electron microscopy. The total lipid emulsification efficiency was higher in fresh AKO than in oxidized AKO. Additionally， the release of free fatty acids was lower in oxidized AKO ((14.06 ± 0.42) mmol/L digestive juice) compared to fresh AKO ((17.44 ± 0.68) mmol/L digestive juice) at the end of simulated gastrointestinal digestion. These results suggest that lipid oxidation impairs its emulsification during the process of gastrointestinal digestion by producing less quantity but larger size of lipid droplets， which limit enzymatic access and subsequent absorption during digestion. This underscores the critical role of lipid oxidation level in determining the bioavailability of AKO and highlights the necessity for optimized handling and storage practices to preserve its nutritional integrity in dietary supplements.
