The effect of the Si addition content ranging from 3.3 to 9.1 at.% on the microstructure, mechanical properties and LBE corrosion behaviour of AlCrFeMoTi HEA coatings was investigated. The AlCrFeMoTiSix coatings still maintained an amorphous structure, and their mechanical properties were improved. The Si addition greatly contributed to the enhancement of the LBE corrosion resistance of the coatings, which could be attributed to the formation of a more continuous and protective Cr2O3 and Al2O3 layer. However, the improved efficiency was related to the Si addition content, with an oxidation process model put forwards to well explain this phenomenon. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this manuscript, a dual-polarized wideband wide beamwidth magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna for millimeter-wave mobile communication is proposed. As can be seen from the simulation results, this design exhibits excellent performance. Owing to the mutual resonances of the magnetic dipole and the electric dipole, large bandwidths of 64.8% and 59% (18.4 GHz-33 GHz and 17.29 GHz-33.9 GHz) are obtained for the two polarizations, respectively. The isolation between the two ports is greater than 25 dB. By loading metal vias, the antenna's beamwidth is widened to more than 100° through the whole operating band. The antenna size is $\mathbf{5}\mathbf{mm}\times \mathbf{5}\mathbf{mm}\times \mathbf{1.72}\mathbf{mm}$ , and this compact structure is quite suitable for using in beam scanning antennas.

The series elastic actuator improves the compliance of exoskeleton by introducing a elastic element and ensures its safe interaction ability. Therefore, it is regarded as a new driving mechanism by scholars. Suitable elastic element is conducive to realize the miniaturization and lightweight of SEA, but its topology design is complex and lack of guidance. Based on the finite element simulation environment and three-dimensional parametric CAD environment, this paper analyzes the influence of different size parameters and topology on the pressure of the elastic element, summarizes the characteristics of three topology structures, and puts forward the optimal design method of a torsional elastic element topology. Through the research, we can conclude that the compression effect of elastic beam with specific shape is better than that of curved elastic beam, and the width of elastic beam has a great influence on the torsional elastic element. © 2022 IEEE.

A fully-customized dataflow engine for 3D earthquake simulation with a complex topography

With HPC(high performance computing) evolving into the exascale era, improvements in computing performance and power efficiency have become increasingly more important. Based on our previous work on enabling earthquake simulations on a large scale on Sunway Taihu Light, we further explore other possibilities to improve the application through a fully-customized hardware design on reconfigurable FPGA(field programmable gate array) devices. We investigate the feasibility and the potential benefits of a complete fixed-point design. We first perform a coarse-resolution-based simulation to analyze the representation range and precision needed to capture both the total energy and the energy distribution of variables over space and time. We then derive a complete fixed-point design that identifies the suitable bitwidth for major categories of variables and dynamically represents the range through a dynamic scaling scheme. Finally, we use the optimized fixed-point design to run a case of the Wenchuan earthquake to demonstrate the potential of supporting large-scale scientific simulations on FPGA devices. The results demonstrate that an 18-bit fixed-point design already provides an almost identical description of the seismic events in the Wenchuan scenario down to a single-precision floating-point version and provides sustainable performance equivalent to 13.1 Intel Xeon Gold 6154 18-core CPUs or 2.10 Sunway 260-core processors, with performance per watt(power efficiency) improved by 15.3 and 3.72 times compared with the Intel Xeon Gold 6154 18-core CPUs and the Sunway 260-core processors, respectively.

An Induction Curing Technique for Cfrp Laminate Via Magnetic Particle-Induced In-Situ Heating

Curing high-performance CFRP structures with economical and energy-efficient techniques other than oven or autoclave is important for the widespread application of the composite. In this work, a novel magnetic particle-induced in-situ heating method to cure CFRP laminates with various layup sequences was proposed. Heating characteristics, mechanical properties and porosities of [0]8, [0/90]4s and [0/45/90/-45]2s CFRP laminates were experimentally investigated. Results showed that all the laminates can undergo a consistent, layup-independent two-staged heating curve via regulating the magnetic field intensity. Under 5.5h curing time and 13wt% magnetic particle loading, flexural strength and modulus of three stacking-sequenced CFRP laminates cured by induction heating were 12.4%, 6.3%, 21.9% and 9.9%, 10.9%, 5.4% higher than oven cured counterparts. While porosity slightly increased by 0.85%, 0.62%, 0.56%. Although detailed parameterized research should be conducted, the proposed new curing method showed great potential for fabricating advanced CFRP composite structures without autoclave or oven. © 2024, The Authors. We propose and experimentally demonstrate an ultra-compact and efficient power splitter on LNOI. The device is realized through the inverse design of a digital meta-structure and occupies a small footprint of only 4.8×4.8μm2. The measured results show that the insertion losses are below 2.5dB across the wavelength band of 1500-1560 nm, and the power imbalance between the two output ports is within 0.3 dB. © 2023 IEEE.

The gas-liquid two-phase flow behaviors are always associated with its dynamic void fraction, such as flow resistance, heat transfer coefficient, phase distribution, critical heat flux etc. As regard to the commercial PWR and BWR, rod bundles are the typical geometry, which contains many subchannels for coolant flowing. In present study, the sub-channel void fraction was measured in 5×5 rod bundles with the subchannel impedance void meter consisting of 12 strip electrodes. Based on the measured void fraction in different sub-channels, the void fraction dynamics, PDF (probability distribution function) and CDF (cumulative distribution function) curves were analyzed to make clear the effect of superficial gas and liquid velocity, flow development and casing tube. The empirical correlation for PDF of dynamic sub-channel void fraction has been developed, which showed good fitness with PDF and CDF curves and satisfying accuracy of averaged void fraction. © 2020 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
