Modified Condition/Decision Coverage (MC/DC) is a test coverage standard with excellent fault detection capability, which is widely used in testing safety-critical software. Symbolic execution generates test cases automatically to achieve high code coverage. However, since symbolic execution uses short-circuit evaluation to evaluate decisions, it fails to guarantee the consistency of other conditions in a decision required by the MC/DC criterion. As a result, it is incapable of generating MC/DC test cases to test safety-critical systems adequately. To solve this problem, we propose Branch Dependence Guided Symbolic Execution (BDGSE), a symbolic execution technique for high MC/DC. The approach utilizes static analysis to compute the branch dependencies, then guides symbolic execution to selectively explore paths and simplify test cases, and finally generates a small number of test cases to achieve high MC/DC coverage. Our experimental results show that BDGSE can generate high-quality test cases. Although BDGSE generates fewer test cases, it can achieve higher MC/DC coverage than SPF and random methods, and the fault detection capability of test cases generated by BDGSE is comparable to that of test cases generated by SPF.

Carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) emissions from inland waters to the atmosphere are a pivotal component of the global carbon budget. Anthropogenic land use can influence riverine CO_(2) emissions, but empirical data exploring cause-effect relationships remain limited. Here, we investigated CO_(2) partial pressures(pCO_(2)) and degassing in a monsoonal river(Yue River)within the Han River draining to the Yangtze in China. Almost 90% of river samples were supersaturated in CO_(2) with a mean ± standard deviation of 1474 ± 1614 μatm, leading to emissions of 557-971 mmol/m^(2)/day from river water to the atmosphere. Annual CO_(2) emissions were 1.6-2.8 times greater than the longitudinal exports of riverine dissolved inorganic and organic carbon. pCO_(2) was positively correlated to anthropogenic land use(urban and farmland), and negatively correlated to forest cover. p CO_(2) also had significant and positive relationships with total dissolved nitrogen and total dissolved phosphorus. Stepwise multiple regression models were developed to predict p CO_(2) . Farmland and urban land released nutrients and organic matter to the river system, driving riverine p CO_(2) enrichment due to enhanced respiration in these heterotrophic rivers. Overall, we show the crucial role of land use driving riverine pCO_(2) , which should be considered in future large-scale estimates of CO_(2) emissions from streams. Land use change can thus modify the carbon balance of urban-river systems by enhancing river emissions, and reforestation helps carbon neutral in rivers.

Plate fuel elements are commonly used in compact nuclear reactors due to the advantages of high fuel consumption. In this paper, the two-phase flow pattern in the coolant channel of plate fuel elements, i.e. the rectangular narrow channel was studied. Visualization flow pattern experiments of upward steam-water two-phase flow in narrow rectangular channels, 745mm long and 67mm wide with gap widths of 1.3mm and 1.9mm, were investigated. The experiments were performed in the conditions of pressure ranging from 1 to 2MPa, mass flow rate ranging from 200 to 1500kg/(m2 ⋅s), inlet subcooling ranging from 20~100°C and tilt angle ranging from 0~ 45°. Three flow patterns, consisting of bubble flow, churn flow and annular flow, were obtained in a wide range of thermal parameters. Flow patterns maps were plotted and the influences of pressure, mass flow rate, inlet subcooling, channel gap and tilt angle on the flow pattern transformation of narrow rectangular channel were studied. This study is of great significance for investigating the subsequent heat transfer process of two-phase flow in compact nuclear reactors. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A numerical method for predicting bursting strength of composite rocket motor case considering filament winding process-induced stress

A numerical method to predict the bursting strength of filament wound composite rocket motor case is proposed here. This method can evaluate the longitudinal stress evolution of each composite layer as impregnated filaments with fiber tension are wound layer by layer, and consider the effects of accumulated stress and deformation during filament winding on the bursting strength of composite case. Taking ?520 mm composite cases as a case study, the filament-winding-processinduced stress and deformation as well as progressive damage behavior are numerically predicted,followed by a comparison with experimental results. The numerical results show that the predicted bursting pressures for composite cases manufactured on the mandrels with and without a flexible component are 14.20 MPa and 21.40 MPa, respectively. These values exhibit slight deviation from the measured pressures of 13.50 MPa and 21.57 MPa. Moreover, the predicted damage locations,situated respectively in the dome and cylinder, agree well with the experimental observation. These observations indicate that use of flexible component reduces the load-bearing capacity of the ***, it validates the reliability and accuracy of the proposed numerical method in predicting the bursting strength of composite cases.

Thermionic Conversion Performance Analysis of the Single-Cell Thermionic Fuel Element Based on Froba-Thermion Code

The thermionic conversion performance of the single-cell thermionic fuel element (TFE) is influenced by fuel mass transfer and other parameters. With the consideration of current flow and heat transfer, the thermionic conversion model and the modified heat transfer model were implemented in FROBA-THERMION. Afterward, both implemented models were verified by comparing with experiments or KATET calculation results. Further, a steady-state performance simulation of the single-cell TFE was carried out. The results indicate that the thermionic conversion efficiency will be decreased due to the emitter temperature flattening caused by fuel mass transfer. In addition, the influence of several key parameters on thermionic conversion efficiency and measures to improve the thermionic conversion efficiency were analyzed. © 2022, The Authors. This paper proposes a high-order fully actuated (HOFA) control approach for the output position control of two-mass systems (TMSs) based on extended state observer (ESO). TMSs belongs to a class of underactuated mechanical systems, which can be converted into an HOFA model using variable elimination. Based on the feature of HOFA model, it is extremely simple to solve the position control law such that a desired tracking error system can be achieved. To handle the control issues of high-order derivatives and unknown disturbances, a linear ESO is employed for state estimation and active disturbance rejection control, where the lumped disturbance is treated as an extended system state. The theoretical stability of control system is analyzed with the help of sliding manifold. Comparative simulations are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In light of the growing complexity of the electromagnetic environment, traditional jamming decision-making methods have become less effective due to poor generalization and inefficient jamming performance. This paper proposes a jamming decision-making method based on next state prediction SAC (Soft Actor-Critic) to address this issue. Firstly, we design the state, action, and reward elements under electronic warfare scenarios. Secondly, a next state prediction critic network is proposed to accurately estimate the value function by modeling the environment dynamics and extracting richer representational information. Finally, a negative activation ReLU is introduced to improve the utilization ratio of network parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves a 98.4% success rate at a distance of 90 km from the radar and a 70.0% success rate at 30 km. Therefore, this method exhibits good adaptability and jamming performance in the field of jamming decision-making. © 2023 IEEE.

Nuclear reactor computing software need to process and maintain complex and massive data sets. In order to meet the requirement of mass data storage and processing in software, the data storage model and I/O method and programming interface of HDF5 (Hierarchical Data Format v5) are deeply studied. According to the data storage and processing requirement of typical nuclear reactor computing data such as assembly or core neutronics computing data and core thermal-hydraulic computing data, RCDF-H5 (reactor Compute Data Framework based on HDF5) is proposed. KYMRES (KYlin-2 Main RESults databank) and COMRES (COre Main RESults databank) are designed and implemented based on RCDF-H5. The performance tests show that RCDF-H5 has a higher I/O efficiency than conventional storage solutions. Breaking Barriers in Physical-World Adversarial Examples: Improving Robustness and Transferability via Robust Feature

As deep neural networks (DNNs) are widely applied in the physical world, many researches are focusing on physical-world adversarial examples (PAEs), which introduce perturbations to inputs and cause the model’s incorrect outputs. However, existing PAEs face two challenges: unsatisfactory attack performance (i.e., poor transferability and insufficient robustness to environment conditions), and difficulty in balancing attack effectiveness with stealthiness, where better attack effectiveness often makes PAEs more perceptible. In this paper, we explore a novel perturbation-based method to overcome the challenges. For the first challenge, we introduce a strategy Deceptive RF injection based on robust features (RFs) that are predictive, robust to perturbations, and consistent across different models. Specifically, it improves the transferability and robustness of PAEs by covering RFs of other classes onto the predictive features in clean images. For the second challenge, we introduce another strategy Adversarial Semantic Pattern Minimization, which removes most perturbations and retains only essential adversarial patterns in AEs. Based on the two strategies, we design our method Robust Feature Coverage Attack (RFCoA), comprising Robust Feature Disentanglement and Adversarial Feature Fusion. In the first stage, we extract target class RFs in feature space. In the second stage, we use attention-based feature fusion to overlay these RFs onto predictive features of clean images and remove unnecessary perturbations. Experiments show our method’s superior transferability, robustness, and stealthiness compared to existing state-of-the-art methods. Additionally, our method’s effectiveness can extend to Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs), indicating its potential applicability to more complex tasks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.
