Energy-Efficient Caching and User Selection for Resource-Limited SAGINs in Emergency Communications

The ever-increasing requests of users in emergency communication scenarios lead to high data traffic and transmission delay, posing challenges for resource-limited space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGINs). To address this issue, this paper proposes a joint caching optimization and user selection (JCOUS) problem that leverages unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) caching to maximize the residual energy of the satellite, considering the limited resources of UAVs. To address the complex time-coupling optimization problem with discrete variables, we propose a primal decomposition method to decouple the problem, and design an energy-efficient user selection algorithm with dynamic caching. Furthermore, to reduce computational complexity and cost, we consider a statistical scenario and maximize the statistical residual energy in the JCOUS problem. Simulation results verify that the proposed scheme can achieve a higher residual energy and fast optimization, thus realizing energy saving and quick decision making especially in large-scale computation-intensive SAGINs. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate the anomaly detection problem within stochastic networked cyber-physical systems. We introduce an anomaly detection scheme centered on estimator design employing a statistical approach. Specifically, we extend the statistical method recently developed for single systems to networked control scenarios. Additionally, we analyse the detection of several representative anomalies through this statistical approach. We then apply our anomaly detection strategy to a power network system exposed to such anomalies. Our findings demonstrate that the proposed design effectively detects these anomalies, which simpler methods relying solely on residual assessment with a threshold fail to identify.

Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is the fundamental software system that supports the interpretation and execution of Java bytecode. To support the surging performance demands for the increasingly complex and large-scale Java programs, Just-In-Time (JIT) compiler was proposed to perform sophisticated runtime optimization. However, this inevitably induces various bugs, which are becoming more pervasive over the decades and can often cause significant consequences. To facilitate the design of effective and efficient testing techniques to detect JIT compiler bugs. This study first performs a preliminary study aiming to understand the characteristics of JIT compiler bugs and the corresponding triggering test cases. Inspired by the empirical findings, we propose JOpFuzzer, a new JVM testing approach with a specific focus on JIT compiler bugs. The main novelty of JOpFuzzer is embodied in three aspects. First, besides generating new seeds, JOpFuzzer also searches for diverse configurations along the new dimension of optimization options. Second, JOpFuzzer learns the correlations between various code features and different optimization options to guide the process of seed mutation and option exploration. Third, it leverages the profile data, which can reveal the program execution information, to guide the fuzzing process. Such nov-elties enable JOpFuzzer to effectively and efficiently explore the two-dimensional input spaces. Extensive evaluation shows that JOpFuzzer outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches in terms of the achieved code coverages. More importantly, it has detected 41 bugs in OpenJDK, and 25 of them have already been confirmed or fixed by the corresponding developers.

Multi-Resolution Planar Region Extraction for Uneven Terrains

This paper studies the problem of extracting planar regions in uneven terrains from unordered point cloud measurements. Such a problem is critical in various robotic applications such as robotic perceptive locomotion. While existing approaches have shown promising results in effectively extracting planar regions from the environment, they often suffer from issues such as low computational efficiency or loss of resolution. To address these issues, we propose a multi-resolution planar region extraction strategy in this paper that balances the accuracy in boundaries and computational efficiency. Our method begins with a pointwise classification preprocessing module, which categorizes all sampled points according to their local geometric properties to facilitate multi-resolution segmentation. Subsequently, we arrange the categorized points using an octree, followed by an in-depth analysis of nodes to finish multi-resolution plane segmentation. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed approach are verified via synthetic and real-world experiments, demonstrating our method’s ability to generalize effectively across various uneven terrains while maintaining real-time performance, achieving frame rates exceeding 35 FPS. Various and critical electrocatalytic processes are involved during the redox reactions in the Li-S batteries,which extremely depend on the surface structure and chemical ***,single-atom concept unlocks a route to maximize the use of surface-active atoms,however,further increasing the density of active site is still strictly limited by the inherent structure that single-atoms are only highly-dispersed on ***,we provide a viewpoint that an elaborate facet design with singlecrystalline structure engineering can harvest high-density surface active sites,which can significantly boost the electrocatalyst performance for excellent Li-S ***,the single-crystal CoSe_(2)(scCS)exhibits three-types of terminated(011)facet,efficiently obtaining the surface with a high-rich Co^(3+)–Se bond termination,in contrast with lots of surface grain boundaries and dangling bonds in polycrystalline CoSe_(2).Surprisingly,the surface active sites concentration can reach more than 69%.As anticipated,it can provide high-density and high-efficient active sites,enormously suppressing the shuttle effect and improving the reaction kinetics via accelerating the conversion and deposition of polysulfides and *** surface lattice strategy with element terminated mode is a promising approach for designing electrocatalyst effect-based energy system,not merely for Li-S batteries.

In the manufacturing process of a specific type of conical cylinder, high-frequency argon arc welding is employed for butt welding. The uncertainty of the butt weld position relative to the welding gun results in excessive manual labor during production, leading to suboptimal product qualification rates;Consequently, the implementation of a fusion laser welding seam tracking automated control system was initiated. This system utilizes a PLC to gather various sensor data signals, control servomotors, valves, and motors, thereby establishing a comprehensive automated butt welding tracking control system. Ultimately, this achieves the goals of reducing labor costs, diminishing labor intensity, and enhancing both production efficiency and product quality. © 2024 SPIE.

Discrimination against different user groups has received growing attention in the recommendation field. To address this problem, existing works typically remove sensitive attributes that may cause discrimination through adversary learning to achieve fair recommendations. However, these approaches leverage all available interactions for learning user representations and overlook the fact that different interactions have varying relevance to users’ sensitive attributes. Ignoring this issue may weaken the effectiveness of adversary learning in removing sensitive attributes. To tackle this challenge, we propose a novel model called GS-FairRec, which distinguishes between user interactions to achieve better removal of sensitive attributes. The model consists of three modules: graph sampling-based representation learning, pseudo-user representation learning, and adversarial learning. Firstly, the graph sampling-based representation learning module removes some irrelevant neighbors from a user-item bipartite graph and employs a graph convolutional network (GCN) to learn user/item representations. Next, items that are relevant to a user’s sensitive information but do not match their preferences are defined as the user’s pseudo-interest items, which are leveraged to learn the pseudo-user representation. In the adversarial learning module, the user’s two kinds of representations are fused for adversarial learning to remove sensitive information. Additionally, we design a new metric to measure the model’s ability to remove sensitive attributes based on how a generated recommendation list discloses the user’s sensitive attributes. Finally, we conduct experiments on two real-world datasets, and our results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed model in fairness tasks.

Al-based composites containing high neutron absorption cross section elements are the most promising shielding materials for spent fuel storage, but their irradiation performance is the key to their long-term service stability. In the present work, an in-situ study on the evolution and characteristics of irradiation defect clusters including dislocation loops, gas bubbles and hydrogen platelets in Al-based Gd2O3-W composites during 30 keV H2+ irradiation was carried out in a transmission electron microscope and analyzed in detail. The delamination of bubbles and the formation of tunnel structure in Al matrix were found for the first time. Hydrogen platelets in Al5W particles was first observed, and their formation and evolution and corresponding mechanism were investigated in detail. Platelets with different orientation had different growth rates, and the relationship between growth rate and dose was constructed. Besides, the irradiation-induced increment of yield strength in Al matrix was estimated. This study will provide new insights for the design and development of new Al-based rare earth composites with high resistance to irradiation damage. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the process of mechanical analysis for equipment and pipe of reactor coolant system (RCS), due to the severe load condition, the stress analysis cannot satisfy the evaluation criteria at times, the limit analysis and plastic analysis is necessary. This paper focus on the limit load and the plastic collapse load of the straight pipe and three-way pipe of reactor coolant system (such as the nozzle of main equipment and the pipe of main system) under combined loads, the analytical method and the finite element (FE) method are adopted in this paper. Get the limit load curve and the plastic collapse load curve of straight pipe and three-way pipe under combined loads, the effect of load history and structure size is analyzed. Tangent intersection criterion (TI) and Plastic work-tangent criterion (PWT) are adopted to study the plastic collapse load curve of straight pipe under combined load of pressure and bending moment. Get the theoretical equation of the limit load and plastic collapse curve of straight pipe under combined loads;get the theoretical equation of the limit load surface of straight pipe under combined load of pressure, bending moment and torque. With the rapid expanding of urban economy and population, how to reduce the energy consumption and improve energy efficiency of public buildings has become a key issue for energy conservation and urban development. However, due to the diversity of building employing condition, energy consumption data often has problems with nonlinearity, outliers, and diversity, which will greatly reduce the accuracy of energy consumption prediction and energy conservation assessment. To overcome the above drawbacks, a regression prediction model of building energy consumption is designed, which cluster the same type of data characteristics to form a subset of equipment through Gaussian mixture clustering, and design the specific normalized adaptive loss function to determine the optimal control parameters of regression model. Furthermore, a novel predict-center energy efficiency evaluation criterion is proposed, and the cumulative distribution pattern is further statistically analyzed. Finally, the energy benchmark evaluation framework is proposed to determine the energy efficiency evaluation grade. Through comparative experimental analysis, it can be seen that the proposed prediction model can adapt to different types of building data, and have better prediction accuracy and convergence speed. The consistency and robustness of the benchmark evaluation framework and method are optimal. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
