Predicting fuel behavior in the reactor is a typical multiphysics coupling problem. The traditional fuel performance analysis adopts a decoupling way. To provide a higher fidelity tool for fuel performance simulation, the multi-physics coupling software COMSOL and 3D Monte Carlo neutron transport code RMC are coupled. The fuel rod thermo-mechanical coupling analysis module is constructed in COMSOL. RMC is innovatively wrapped as a component of COMSOL to communicate with the fuel performance module. Grid mapping algorithm is set up using COMSOL's functionality. A carefully designed segregation solver sequence is used to control the coupling process. The fine power distribution calculated by RMC is transferred to COMSOL fuel thermal calculation, and the fuel temperature and the coolant temperature and density calculated by COMSOL are transferred to RMC. In a Picard iterative way, the fuel rod lattice level neutron thermomechanical tight coupling is realized. The coupling is demonstrated in a fuel rod BOL steady state case. The fuel performance analysis is enhanced by the higher fidelity neutron flux solution. © 2022 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). All rights reserved.

Enhanced thermal isolation in porous thermal barrier coatings by the formation of pore guided thermal-shock cracks

Pore structure design is an effective strategy to tailor the thermal isolation capability of thermal barrier coatings(TBCs).Pursuing optimal porosity is crucial to balance the requirements of thermal isolation and mechanical reliability since the pore structure shields thermal heat transfer but increases mechanical *** this work,we investigate how thermal heat transfer couples with fracture propagation in porous TBCs by the using thermo-mechanical coupling phase field model for *** simulated results show that cracks induced by thermal shock favor deflection that is sometimes perpendicular to the direction of heat *** thermal conductivity degradation by the transverse cracks significantly impedes thermal heat transfer,leads to enhanced reduction of the effective thermal conductivity of TBCs,decreases the average thermal stress of the substrate,and thus decreases the risk of the crack penetrating into the *** numerical results demonstrate that the phase field method fully considering the thermo-mechanical interaction between cracks and pores can be a useful tool to improve the thermal isolation of porous TBCs under extreme thermal shock loadings through pore structure design.

To solve the problem of mobile robots needing to adjust their pose for accurate operation after reaching the target point in the indoor environment,a localization method based on scene modeling and recognition has been ***,the offline scene model is created by both handcrafted feature and semantic ***,the scene recognition and location calculation are performed online based on the offline scene *** improve the accuracy of recognition and location calculation,this paper proposes a method that integrates both semantic features matching and handcrafted features *** on the results of scene recognition,the accurate location is obtained through metric calculation with 3D *** experimental results show that the accuracy of scene recognition is over 90%,and the average localization error is less than 1 *** results demonstrate that the localization has a better performance after using the proposed improved method.

Direct contact condensation (DCC) is widely appeared in the nuclear power plants and will lead to serious temperature and pressure fluctuations. For ocean nuclear power plants, the DCC is inevitably affected by the sea conditions, such as rolling, heaving motion. In this study, the integration of volume of fluid model (VOF) and condensation model is adopted to simulate the DCC characteristics under heave conditions. The interfacial heat and mass transfer are calculated by user-defined functions (UDF). The additional inertial force method is used to describe the heave motion. First, the DCC numerical model under heave motion is validated by the experimental data, which coincides well with the experiment results. Then, the characteristics of DCC under different heave parameters are numerically studied. The results show that the average condensation rate increases with an increase in heave amplitude, decreases with an increase in heave period. This is mainly because the heave motion will cause the liquid phase to impact the upper pipe wall, and increasing the contact area of vapor and subcooled water. The pressure oscillations induced by DCC are more complicated under heaving conditions. With heave period continuing to change, the formation mechanisms of the pressure peak are different. When the heave period is relatively small, the pressure peak is mainly induced by the acceleration of water phase under high frequency heaving motion. With an increase in the heave period, the heaving motion accelerated the formation of isolated steam bubble, and caused the condensation induced water hammer (CIWH) events, which in turn induced the pressure peak. In addition, the pressure peak is proportional to the heave amplitude. In summary, the direct contact condensation characteristics are more sensitive to the heave period under heaving conditions. The control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) is a critical device in nuclear plants. This paper proposes a kind of CRDM applying the cylindrical linear induction motor (CLIM). First, the structure and the working principle are introduced. Second, the finite-element method (FEM) is applied to analyze the electromagnetic characteristics of CRDM. The lifting force variation curves with different electromagnetic and structural parameters are obtained. Third, the thermal analysis is carried out by FEM. The steady-state thermal distribution and temperature of each component of CRDM are obtained. All the above results show that the proposed CRDM can meet the design criteria and such functions as rising, falling, and holding still. © 2023 IEEE.

The control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) is a kind of servo mechanism for the reactor control system of the nuclear power plant. This paper presents a cylindrical linear induction motor suitable for the CRDM. First, the structure of the CRDM is introduced. Second, the relationship between the main dimensions and the electromagnetic load is derived. Third, the influence of materials of the mover shielding shell, speed, and electromagnetic parameters on the lifting force is analyzed by the finite-element method (FEM). Meanwhile, the steady-state temperature of each component of the CRDM is obtained. Finally, a scaled-down prototype is manufactured to verify the rationality of the design. The test results show that the FEM results are consistent with the experimental results, and the essential functions such as lifting, lower insertion, and maintenance can be realized. © 2023 IEEE.

Background Exogenous gonadotropin-controlled ovarian stimulation is the critical step in animal reproductive management,such as pig,sheep,bovine and other *** helps synchronize ovulation or stimulate multiple ***,a number of evidence indicated an unexpected decrease in pregnancy outcomes following ovarian *** study aimed to explore the underlying mechanism of the pregnancy defect and develop a practical rescue *** Compared with those in the control group,gilts that underwent ovarian stimulation showed a decrease in pregnancy rate,farrowing rate,and total number of piglets *** gilts also showed an increase in estra-diol(E_(2))*** supraphysiologicalE_(2) level was correlated with the decrease in the number of piglets ***,we found that high levels ofE_(2) impair uterine receptivity,as shown by the overproliferation of endo-metrial epithelial *** vitro mechanistic studies demonstrated that high levels ofE_(2) hyperactivate FGF-FGFR-ERK signaling cascade in the uterine endometrium,and in turn induces overproliferation of endometrial epithelial *** note,N-acetyl-L-cysteine(NAC)supplementation effectively inhibits ERK hyperphosphorylation and ameliorates endometrial epithelial ***,in vivo experiments indicated that dietary NAC supplementa-tion,compared with ovarian stimulation group,improves the uterine receptivity in gilts,and significantly increases the pregnancy rate and total number of piglets *** Ovarian stimulation-induced supraphysiological levels ofE_(2) impairs uterine receptivity by hyperactivat-ing FGF-FGFR-ERK signaling cascade,thereby reducing pregnancy rate and litter *** NAC to a con-ventional diet for gilts ameliorates hyperactivated ERK signaling and improves uterine receptivity,thus rescuing adverse pregnancy outcomes following ovarian stimulation.
