The determination of solid–liquid interfacial tension plays an important role in science and ***,we propose a simple method to directly measure the contact angle between metal droplets and a graphite substrate for the determination of metal–graphite interfacial *** proposed method involves the synthesis of micro-and nanosized metal droplets on graphite by arc *** to its small volume,the rapid cooling of the prepared metal droplets on the graphite substrate leads to the freezing of equilibrium contact confguration after *** observe that the measured contact angle between micro-and nanosized Au(or Ag)particles and the graphite substrate is almost size independent,even though the size of the particles synthesized herein is 1–3 orders of magnitude smaller than that studied in previous *** addition,the interfacial tensions of Au and Ag on the step edges(edge plane)of graphite are found to be larger than that on the(0001)plane(basal plane).The proposed method provides a simple approach to determine the solid–liquid interfacial tension and may be efective in the study of interface related science and technology.

With the rapid development of railway traffic system, real-time semantic segmentation plays a crucial role in railway track scene monitoring. However, most of the existing methods use lightweight convolution to reduce the computational complexity, which results in reduced accuracy. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a real-time semantic segmentation network called TICNet, which is specifically used for accurate segmentation of railway track scenes. TICNet uses a novel three-branch structure designed for efficient feature extraction and accurate segmentation. Results on the RailSem19 dataset show that TICNet has a segmentation accuracy of 62.36% mIoU with an inference speed of 81.2 FPS, which is significantly better than many existing methods. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper studies the influence of hybrid disorders on acoustic transmission characteristic in pipeline with periodic elastic HRs. Band gap structures (BGs) for infinite period are investigated by transfer matrix method and finite element method respectively, and fit well with the corresponding transmission loss (TL) for finite regular periods. By introducing a certain degree of uncertainty level, Interval analysis method is used to convert uncertain parameter problems into two deterministic models. Frequency response function (FRF) for near-periodic structure with single disorder and BGs for quasiperiodic structure with multiple disorders considering cavity radius and periodic length are investigated. The existence of disorders in periodic structure would always reduce attenuation interval and intensity, some disturbance would even change the original acoustic transmission characteristic and excite completely new attenuation zones. The sensitivity of pipeline acoustic vibration transfer characteristic to disorder parameter depends on attenuation mechanism, as for periodic elastic HRs pipeline, acoustic propagation stability is more sensitive to characteristic of locally resonant unit. The work in this paper enriches the stability analysis of pipeline with elastic HRs, which would provide theoretical reference for noise and vibration reduction design in practical engineering applications. © 2022 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Multi-objective optimization of heat sink with multi-cross-ribbed-fins for a motor controller

A novel multi-cross-ribbed-fin layout was proposed to supersede the original smooth fin to fulfill the lightweight requirement of the air-cooled heat sink for the electrical vehicle motor controller. The thermal design with multi-cross-ribbed-fins was optimized using the multi-objective optimization method to minimize the chip’s temperature rise and the weight of the heat sink simultaneously. The design variables are the number of multi-cross-ribbed-fins ranging from 12 to 24, the number of cross ribs on either side varying from 1 to 4, and cross rib height in the region of 1.00–2.50mm. The standard k-Ε turbulence model was validated compared to the experimental data for the original heat sink with smooth fins. The Pareto front solution set was obtained by performing the mixed-level orthogonal design procedure with the numerical simulations, constructing the surrogated-based model with backpropagation neural net training, and implementing the genetic algorithm. The numerical results showed that the recommended optimal designs have the multi-cross-ribbed-fin number of 17–19, the number of cross ribs of 2–3, and a cross rib height of 2.13–2.50mm. The maximum decreases in the temperature rise and weight are 7.63% and 9.45%, respectively. For verifying the superiority of current optimal designs, one of the optimal designs of the heat sink, which yields comparative temperature rise of the chip but reduced weight, was selected to be experimentally tested and compared with the data for the original heat sink. © 2022, The Author(s).

A calibration method of external parameters of 2D laser in rotary 3D scanning

Aiming at the problem of external parameter calibration in the combined rotating three-dimensional(3D) scanning process of laser radar and turntable, a fast 3D data scanning and accurate equipment calibration method suitable for industrial application scenarios is proposed. The coordinates of the center of the circle in the laser radar coordinate system are obtained by fitting the coordinates of the center of the circle with the scanning arc. Through the standard size and rotation angle of the target ball, the coordinates of the ball center in the turntable coordinate system are obtained. The rotation parameter R and the translation parameter T of the minimum value of the data set conversion error function in the two coordinate systems are calculated. The experimental results show that the error between the converted data and the actual data is within 0.1 mm, which meets the actual work requirements. This calibration method has the advantages of high accuracy and strong robustness.

Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) is characterized as a non-insertion and whole-field measuring technology for the thermal-hydraulic analysis. This paper presents the details of LIF, including the basic principle, the main apparatus and the data process methods. The effects of the inhomogeneous laser sheet and ambient light are eliminated by the discretization of the camera pixels. A new data process method base on the empirical fitted polynomial is developed. The additional calibration test and the empirical fitted polynomial are combined for the simplification and optimization of the data process method. The results shows that the deviation in temperature measurement is within 0.5 ℃ for the improved method, and is within 1.0 ℃ for the conventional method. The concentration measurement error is within 5.67% for the improved method, and is about 7.10% for the conventional method. The new method proposed by this work makes LIF technology more convenient and accurate. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Oysters are of the most economically important bivalves *** has high nutritional value and is regarded as a good source of proteins,lipids,glycogen,and amino *** and *** are allopatric congeneric dominant oysters that are widely cultivated in the northern and southern coast of china,and have shown remarkable differentiation in the nutritional *** hybridization and backcross of the two species are effective ways to improve the nutritional quality of the *** progenies were constructed based on a 4×4 diallel crosses among broodstock of ***(G),***(A)and their hybrids GA(H)and AG(R).The glycogen,fatty acids,and amino acids performance of these progenies were evaluated in 22 months after *** glycogen content of AA was significantly lower than that of the other 15 progenies(P<0.05),while only the GH progeny was significantly higher than the GG(P<0.05),with a heterosis value of 21.06%.The backcross progenies GR exhibited significantly higher saturated fatty acids,eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA),and polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs)content than those of GG(P<0.05),and did not show significant differences from *** AA showed significantly higher content of total amino acids(TAAs)than GG(P<0.05).The AH progeny displayed significantly higher taurine(Tau)content than GG(P<0.05),and the heterosis value was 27.88%.Therefore,the backcross breeding was shown an effective way to improve the glycogen,fatty acids,and TAAs of GG,and the glycogen of *** study provided useful information to characterize the benefits of backcrossing in nutritional quality,which will facilitate the production of differentiated products and increase the efficiency of the oyster industry.

Multiscale mechanics of noncovalent interface in graphene oxide layered nanocomposites

Noncovalent interfaces play a vital role in inelastic deformation and toughening mechanisms in layered nanocomposites due to their dynamical recoverability. When interfacial engineering is applied to design layered nanocomposites, shear-lag analysis is usually implemented to evaluate the capability of interfacial loading transfer. Here, we introduce a multiscale shear-lag model that correlates macroscale mechanical properties with the molecular mechanisms to quantify the effects of interfacial configuration in graphene oxide(GO) layered nanocomposites. By investigating the mechanical responses of commensurate and incommensurate interfaces, we identify that the commensurate interface exhibits a pronounced size effect due to the nucleation and propagation of interfacial defects, whereas the incommensurate interface displays uniform deformation. Our predictions are further validated through large-scale molecular dynamics simulations for GO layered nanocomposites. This work demonstrates how size effects and interfacial configurations can be exploited to fabricate layered nanocomposites with superior mechanical properties despite relying on weak noncovalent interfaces.
