A lunar regolith in-situ analysis payload deploying a mass spectrometer is proposed to exactly detect the water ice of the South Pole of the moon for china future lunar exploration missions. In order to realize the goal, an airtight heating furnace for volatile extraction from lunar regolith is desired. In this paper, sealing methods for lunar regolith volatile in heating furnace to future proposed in-situ sampling and analysis of lunar samples were investigated based on power requirements, furnace closing accuracy requirements, dust tolerance and operation in the Lunar environment. Methods implemented include a balanced metal hollow ring seal, a double channel ferrule tab ring radial seal and a spring energized seal. Comparing the performance of sealing methods under the above conditions, a spring energized seal is selected as the heating furnace seal. The materials and structure of the seal are designed based on the rigidity requirements, leakage rate requirements and working environment requirements. In order to test the sealing performance of seals after repeated sealing in high and low temperature environments, a seal leak detection system was designed. The test results indicate that the seal can meet the sealing performance requirements after repeated sealing at various temperatures. © 2023 IEEE.

The liquid metal reactor, specifically the lead-based fast reactor and the sodium-cooled fast reactor, are generally recognized as the most significant representatives of the Gen IV reactors due to their sustainability, economy, security and reliability. In order to conduct thermal-hydraulic safety analysis for liquid metal cooled fast reactors, adaptive improvements are made to the model and solution algorithms based on the sub-channel analysis method, and a Sub-channel Analysis Code Of Safety for Liquid Metal cooled reactor (SACOS-LMR) is developed. The validation of SACOS-LMR is conducted using classic experimental data of liquid metal. The results show that the dimensionless temperature deviations of ORNL 19-pin test and Toshiba 37-pin test are within 10%, and the relative temperature deviations of KIT-KALLA 19-pin test are within 25%. These findings confirm the accuracy and reliability of SACOS-LMR in predicting the temperature distribution of liquid metal reactors. Ultimately, calculations conducted on the ALFRED lead-cooled fast reactor demonstrated the practical utility of the code and have certain guiding significance for its subsequent design and development. © 2024, The Authors. design of high-performance lead-based fast reactor has already become a hotspot in the advanced reactor system. Research of the neutronics performance improvement is presented based on the small lead-based fast reactor SLBR-50. Parameter sensitivity analyses are conducted, including height-diameter ratio(H/D), reflector assembly arrangement, pitch-diameter ratio(P/D) in fuel assembly, fuel material and fuel enrichment partition. Numerical results of eigenvalue in burnup procedure, assembly power distribution and energy spectrum are analyzed. These results provide influences of these design parameters in quantity and the neutronics performance can be improved with parameter optimization. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Chiller model is a key factor to building energy simulation and chiller performance *** spread of new types of electric water chillers that have higher performance and wider operating range,new challenges have been faced by building energy simulation tools and their chiller *** work takes a new type of electric water chiller as a case study and reevaluates eight typical empirically based models for predicting the energy performance of electric water chiller to verify whether they are suitable for the new type of chiller,using both laboratory test data from chiller manufacturer and online monitoring data from on-site operation of a central cooling plant with chillers of the same *** prediction ability of the chiller models(including model prediction accuracy and generation ability)in laboratory test and on-site operation situations are *** results show that the existing models can well describe the chiller performance in the laboratory test situation but perform poorly in the on-site operation *** the best two models in the laboratory dataset,the overall prediction errors of DOE-2 and GN model increase more than 250%and 75%respectively in the field *** big discrepancy of model prediction accuracy in the two situations is mainly due to the differences of evaporator and condenser water flow rates between the laboratory and on-site operation datasets,which indicates the limitations of the empirical chiller models and implies further research in future in order to improve the suitability and reliability of chiller model.

In this research, a series of hollow glass powder(HGP) reinforced magnetorheological plastomers(MRPs)were prepared to improve the impact resistance of the materials, and the dynamic compressive properties of MRPs under high strain rate were investigated by using a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)system equipped with a customized magnetic device. Experimental results showed the HGPs greatly enhanced the yield stresses of the MRPs. Especially, for MRPs with 9 vol.% carbonyl iron powders(CIPs), the magnetic-induced yield stress increased from 7.3 MPa to 17.1 MPa(134% increased) by adding 18 vol.%HGPs. The particle structures in MRPs were further simulated and the corresponding intergranular stress was calculated to study the enhancement effect of HGPs. The simulated results showed that more compact structures were formed with the excluded volume caused by secondary HGPs, so the yield stresses of the MRPs increased under a magnetic field. However, when the mass ratio of HGP to CIP was larger than 0.67, HGPs would hinder the formation of chain-like structures and reduce the magneto-mechanical properties. As a result, the replacing of CIPs by HGPs was proven to be an excellent strategy to improve the dynamic properties of MRPs.

This paper introduces an adaptive peridynamics with a correspondence material model (A-PD-CMM) to effectively simulate the coupled creep-plastic behavior and the creep crack propagation in metal materials. In this method, to describe the coupled creep-plastic deformation with considering the creep damage, the multiaxial coupled constitutive model that integrates the Wen-Tu creep damage model and the J2 plastic model is developed. Moreover, a damage associate criterion is incorporated into the peridynamics framework to effectively capture the influence of damage on the force state. To detail the rapid damage evolution during the tertiary creep stage, a time-adaptive solving strategy is proposed. Additionally, the constitutive integration algorithm of the multiaxial coupled model is efficiently realized by decoupling it into two parts, that is, an implicit computation of creep-plasticity and an explicit evolution of creep damage. The efficacy and engineering applicability of the proposed A-PD-CMM are validated through several representative numerical examples, showcasing its potential in addressing complex material behavior. © 2024, The Authors. As mobile technology evolves from 5G to 6G, the demand for third-generation semiconductors such as SiC with higher power and frequency capabilities is increasing. Silicon Carbide power modules generate significant heat during operation, requiring large-area nano-silver sintering technology to improve module performance and reliability. However, in large-area sintering processes, low exhaust efficiency of solder paste by-products and uneven sintering pressure of the nano-silver paste result in poor sintering quality of the silver layer. This study aims to improve the sintering quality of interconnected silver layers by optimizing the sintering pressure distribution and adding rubber spacers to the sintering structure. ABAQUS was used to quantitatively analyze the effects of pressure methods and gasket material, diameter, and thickness on the stress distribution in the silver layer. Finally, based on the simulation results, an optimized sintering structure was proposed to unify the pressure and reduce the stress concentration in the silver layer, and verified experimentally by sintering tests. Compared with the traditional sintering structure, the application of a 2 mm thick fluoro rubber gasket with the same surface area as the silver layer in the optimized structure reduced the porosity to 2.15% and achieved a more dense sintered silver layer. © 2024 SPIE.

Large-area flexible roll-out solar array system has huge application potential in space structure especially for the Space Solar Power system (SSPS) due to the advantages of the lightweight, high area to mass ratio, excellent folding and deployable capabilities. For SSPS to operate economically, solar array system must operate at power levels greater than MW, while the commercial SSPS should operate at power levels no less than GW. Therefore, advanced flexible solar array systems with areas up to 104 m2 and 107 m2 are essential. In this study, a modular large-area flexible roll-out solar array system with several subarrays is proposed, in which Composite lenticular boom is used as the load-carrying structure, and inflation constrained with Velcros is designed as the drive mechanism. The single array can be expanded to more than 1000 m2, while the specific power is expected to reach more than 500 W/kg. In this paper, structural dynamics, inflation deployment dynamics and on-orbit thermal performances of the subarray are analyzed, the result show that the proposed solar array system is reasonable and feasible for SSPS application. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

POST-HOC INTERPRETABILITY BASED PARAMETER SELECTION for DATA ORIENTED NUCLEAR reactor ACCIDENT DIAGNOSIS system

During applying data-oriented diagnosis systems to distinguishing the type of and evaluating the severity of nuclear power plant initial events, it is of vital importance to decide which parameters to be used as the system input. However, although several diagnosis systems have already achieved acceptable performance in diagnosis precision and speed, hardly have the researchers discussed the method of monitoring point choosing and its layout. For this reason, redundant measuring data are used to train the diagnostic model, leading to high uncertainty of the classification, extra training time consumption, and higher probability of overfitting while training. In this study, a method of choosing thermal hydraulics parameters of a nuclear power plant is proposed, using the theory of post-hoc interpretability theory in deep learning. At the start, a novel Time-sequential Residual Convolutional Neural Network (TRES-CNN) diagnosis model is introduced to identify the position and hydrodynamic diameter of breaks in LOCA, using 38 parameters manually chosen on HPR1000 empirically. Afterwards, post-hoc interpretability methods are applied to evaluate the attributions of diagnosis model's outputs, deciding which 15 parameters to be more decisive in diagnosing LOCA details. The results show that the TRESCNN based diagnostic model successfully predicts the position and size of breaks in LOCA via selected 15 parameters of HPR1000, with 25% of time consumption while training the model compared the process using total 38 parameters. In addition, the relative diagnostic accuracy error is within 1.5% compared with the model using parameters chosen empirically, which can be regarded as the same amount of diagnostic reliability.
