Based on the full reference to the existing engineering practice and safety review experience, and considering the actual design characteristics of the small modular reactor ACP100, a set of source term analysis method suitable for ACP100 of the steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) accident is proposed, and the source term analysis and consequence evaluation of ACP100 SGTR accident was carried out using this method. The analysis shows that the radiological consequences of the accident source term calculated by this method meet the acceptance criteria of small modular reactor. The analysis results of this article can provide support for the follow-up review of accident source term of ACP100. © 2023, The Author(s).

Compared to knowledge-based diagnostic systems, data-based methods tend to perform better in terms of speed and accuracy in diagnosing reactor accidents, and have significant advantages in terms of scalability of models. With the increasing use of high-precision system analysis programs in nuclear engineering, the number of high-fidelity computational data for accident simulation is exploding. Therefore, an algorithm that can achieve both automatic extraction of low-dimensional features from the data and guarantee the validity of the features is needed to improve the performance and confidence of the accident diagnosis system. This study proposes an autoencoder-based autonomous learning framework, namely Padded Auto-Encoder (PAE), which is able to automatically encode accident monitoring data that has been noise-added and with partially missing data into low-dimensional feature vectors via a Vision Transformer-based encoder, and to decode the feature vectors into noise-free and complete reconstructed monitoring data. Thus, the encoder part of the framework is able to automatically infer valid representations from partially missing and noisy monitoring data that reflect the complete and noise-free original data, and the representation vectors can be used for downstream tasks for accident diagnosis or else. In this paper, LOCA of HPR1000 was used as the study object, and the PAE was trained by an unsupervised method using cases with different break locations and sizes as the dataset. The encoder part of the pre-trained PAE was subsequently used as the feature extractor for the monitoring data, and several basic statistical learning algorithms for predicting the break locations and sizes. The results of the study show that the pre-trained diagnostic model with two stages has a better performance in break location and size diagnostic capability with an improvement of 41.62% and 80.86% in the metrics respectively, compared to the diagnostic model with end-to-end model st

Traveling wave reactor (TWR) is an advanced nuclear power system, which can keep the total amount of fissionable nuclides constant during its lifetime through the transformation of fissionable nuclides in the reactor, so as to maintain the stability of the effective proliferation factor of the reactor core. As a coolant, lead has low neutron moderation ability and capture cross section. At the same time, it also has excellent thermal characteristics. Lead cooled traveling wave reactor is a reactor with high inherent safety and good application prospects. The research on reactor core mainly focuses on the physical calculation of the reactor, and the analysis of its thermal hydraulic model and characteristics is relatively scarce, which limits the design and safety analysis of the advanced reactor. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the thermal hydraulic model of lead cooled traveling wave reactor. In this paper, a thermal hydraulic model suitable for the core of lead cooled traveling wave reactor is proposed. Considering the axial particularity of heat release from the core of traveling wave reactor, the model considers the axial thermal conductivity of fuel rods ignored by other thermal hydraulic models. Due to the strong thermal conductivity of core coolant, the thermal model also considers the heat transfer of fuel assemblies and the flow distribution of core flow. The research shows that the thermal hydraulic model is suitable for the analysis of thermal hydraulic characteristics of lead cooled traveling wave reactor, the thermal hydraulic characteristics are studied by using the thermal hydraulic model. © 2023, The Author(s).

In primary circuit, pump-induced pulsation (PIP) of coolant may cause fatigue failure of reactor components. In this article, a three-dimensional numerical model of PIP was established by COMSOL, theory of acoustic impedance of perforated plate was introduced and the perforated plate construction in reactor, such as flow baffle plate (FBP) was modeled by impedance boundary condition. In this paper, the calculation results of PIP pressure load were compared considering and without considering the impedance boundary condition. This study finds that differences of pressure amplitude on both sides of impedance boundary are significant when excitation frequency is coupled with the acoustic mode of computational model or when excitation frequency is relatively high. In addition, there are great differences of acoustic resonance frequency between two calculation models. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Currently,two rotations and one translation(2R1T)three-degree-of-freedom(DOF)parallel mechanisms(PMs)are widely applied in five-DOF hybrid machining ***,there is a lack of an effective method to evaluate the configuration stiffness of mechanisms during the mechanism design *** is a challenge to select appropriate 2R1T PMs with excellent stiffness performance during the design *** the operational status of 2R1T PMs,the bending and torsional stiffness are considered as indices to evaluate PMs'configuration ***,a specific method is proposed to calculate these stiffness ***,the various types of structural and driving stiffness for each branch are assessed and their specific values ***,a rigid-flexible coupled force model for the over-constrained 2R1T PM is established,and the proposed evaluation method is used to analyze the configuration stiffness of the five 2R1T PMs in the entire ***,the driving force and constraint force of each branch in the whole working space are calculated to further elucidate the stiffness evaluating results by using the proposed method *** obtained results demonstrate that the bending and torsional stiffness of the 2RPU/UPR/RPR mechanism along the x and y-directions are larger than the other four mechanisms.

Improving the ductility of laser directed energy deposited borated stainless steel by increasing laser power

Borated stainless steels (BSSs) are extensively applied in the nuclear energy industry due to boron's excellent thermal neutron absorption capacity, but large and brittle borides formed during casting result in a low ductility. Here, a BSS was produced by laser directed energy deposition, and an investigation was conducted to analyze the impact of laser power on both the microstructure and mechanical properties of the deposited material. Fibrous borides with relatively low volume fraction in the overlapping zone resulted in higher ductility, while lamellar borides with relatively large volume fraction in the non-overlapping zone led to higher strength. As the laser power increased from 180 W to 330 W, the size of fibrous and lamellar eutectic borides and austenite increased significantly, the width of the soft overlapping zone increased by 2.27 times, and the elongation increased by 2.03 times, although yield strength and ultimate tensile strength decreased by 46.3 % and 31.7 %, respectively. As a result, these findings confirmed the feasibility of significantly improving the ductility of the as-deposited BSS by increasing the laser power. The work here provides a way to tailoring the mechanical properties of BSS produced by laser additive manufacturing. © 2025 The Society of Manufacturing Engineers

Purifying and reconstructing adversarial examples into benign ones by generative models is a class of defense methods to eliminate adversarial perturbations. These methods do not make assumptions on adversarial attacks or model architectures, and thus can defend classifiers against unseen threats. In this work, we propose a new GAN-based adversarial purification method Feature Distillation GAN (FDGAN). We consider how to eliminate the feature differences between adversarial examples and benign examples which are difficult for humans to perceive. We extract and analyze the differences between the adversarial examples and the benign examples from multiple dimensionals. On the basis of comparing the differences among various features, we propose a new feature-level perspective on adversarial purification, design a new adversarial example purification method for image inputs, and implement our method based on GAN. Experimental results show that FDGAN is effective against unknown adversarial attacks and outperforms all the purification methods we used for comparison. Evaluating FDGAN against strong adaptive attacks, the robust accuracy of FDGAN under AutoAttack (L∞ = 8/255) exceeds the SOTA adversarial training methods on the Robustbench. Furthermore, FDGAN has lower training cost and can be combined with a variety of model-based defense strategies to further improve the defense effectiveness. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Aiming at the problem of small output torque in the design process of traveling to wave ultrasonic motor, this paper proposes a method of optimizing the output torque of traveling to wave ultrasonic motor based on multi-objective genetic algorithm. It can effectively improve the output torque of the motor. Firstly, the structure and operation mechanism of the motor is introduced, and the key factors affecting the output torque of the motor is analyzed reasonably;then the parameterized model of the stator of the ultrasonic motor is established by WORKBENCH, the sample points are randomly selected in the design variable space, and the combination of each sample point is obtained. The modal analysis and harmonic response analysis of the stator structure was carried out to establish the response surfaces model of the stator;finally, the global optimal solution was obtained based on the response surface model by using the multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). The results show that the output torque of the ultra-sonic motor can be increased by 8% before and after optimization. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd.

The existing drive method of the main equipment transporter of the nuclear island makes the transporter have frequent jamming problems when the transporter going straight and turning, which affects the safety during the transporter of the main equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to design an on-board multi-motor synchronous system with differential synchronization function. Although the traditional virtual line-shafting structure has the ability of same-speed synchronization and differential synchronization, there is a large synchronization error. For this reason, this paper proposes a multi-motor synchronous control method based on the improved virtual line-shafting structure, which can effectively solve the inherent synchronous delay problem of the virtual line-shafting. First, analyze and research the combination method of virtual line-shafting structure and deviation coupling structure, and designs the electronic differential to be able to adapt to the requirements of same-speed and differential synchronization. Then the influence of virtual line-shafting parameters on the system is analyzed using the root locus method, and a simplified parameter model of the virtual line-shafting is established, on the basis of which an improved virtual line-shafting control method with low synchronous delay is proposed.
