Coding modulation is utilized to design radar waveform to obtain complex properties so that the waveform is difficult to be recognized. However, traditional coding modulation brings high sidelobe in target range profile which makes the detection performance decrease. To solve this problem, the interrupted coding modulation is proposed in this paper based on the interrupted transmitting and receiving. The signal model is provided and the low sidelobe property of range profile is discussed. Constant false-alarm rate (CFAR) is utilized to evaluate the detection performance of interrupted coding modulation waveform. Simulations are conducted to verify the low sidelobe property and detection performance of the proposed waveform.

Reusing shipping containers for residential purposes offers a promising approach to address global energy consumption challenges from economic and environmental perspectives. This study parametrically designed hybrid louver shadings by combining fixed vertical triangular slats with variable-depth horizontal rectangular slats, offering a novel approach to shading prefabricated buildings. The energy consumption, daylighting performance, and visual comfort were assessed for various shading configurations. Results indicated that implementing the proposed hybrid louvers, featuring fixed vertical triangular slats and variable-depth horizontal rectangular slats, significantly reduced Energy Use Intensity (EUI) to 133.95 kWh/m2. Moreover, Useful daylight illuminance (UDI), Daylight Autonomy (DA), and Glare Autonomy (GA) values improved to 95.38%, 89.97%, and 91.16%, respectively. The study highlighted the potential of the proposed shading system to significantly reduce overall energy consumption across various ASHRAE climate zones, including Miami (1A), Guangzhou (2A), Melbourne (3C), Esperance (3C), San Diego (3A), and Milan (4A). Notably, energy reductions of up to 50.2% were projected for climates such as Miami (1A) and San Diego (3A). Furthermore, container buildings in warm climate zones exhibited a significantly lower EUI range of 76.58 to 91.95 kWh/m². This study underscores the transformative potential of hybrid louver systems in promoting the widespread adoption of sustainable residential architecture, contributing to global sustainability efforts. © 2024 Southwest Jiatong University

Due to the existence of adversarial attacks, various applications that employ deep neural networks (DNNs) have been under threat. Adversarial training enhances robustness of DNN-based systems by augmenting training data with adversarial samples. Projected gradient descent adversarial training (PGD AT), one of the promising defense methods, can resist strong attacks. We propose "free" adversarial training with layerwise heuristic learning (LHFAT) to remedy these problems. To reduce heavy computation cost, we couple model parameter updating with projected gradient descent (PGD) adversarial example updating while retraining the same mini-batch of data, where we "free" and unburden extra updates. Learning rate reflects weight updating speed. Weight gradient indicates weight updating efficiency. If weights are frequently updated towards opposite directions in one training epoch, then there are redundant updates. For higher level of weight updating efficiency, we design a new learning scheme, layerwise heuristic learning, which accelerates training convergence by restraining redundant weight updating and boosting efficient weight updating of layers according to weight gradient information. We demonstrate that LHFAT yields better defense performance on CIFAR-10 with approximately 8% GPU training time of PGD AT and LHFAT is also validated on ImageNet. An integration of satellites and terrestrial networks is crucial for enhancing performance of next generation communication systems. However, the networks are hindered by the long-distance path loss and security risks in dense urban environments. In this work, we propose a satellite-terrestrial covert communication system assisted by the aerial active simultaneous transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (AASTAR-RIS) to improve the channel capacity while ensuring the transmission covertness. Specifically, we first derive the minimal detection error probability (DEP) under the worst condition that the Warden has perfect channel state information (CSI). Then, we formulate an AASTAR-RIS-assisted satellite-terrestrial covert communication optimization problem (ASCCOP) to maximize the sum of the fair channel capacity for all ground users while meeting the strict covert constraint, by jointly optimizing the trajectory and active beamforming of the AASTAR-RIS. Due to the challenges posed by the complex and high-dimensional state-action spaces as well as the need for efficient exploration in dynamic environments, we propose a generative deterministic policy gradient (GDPG) algorithm, which is a generative deep reinforcement learning (DRL) method to solve the ASCCOP. Concretely, the generative diffusion model (GDM) is utilized as the policy representation of the algorithm to enhance the exploration process by generating diverse and high-quality samples through a series of denoising steps. Moreover, we incorporate an action gradient mechanism to accomplish the policy improvement of the algorithm, which refines the better state-action pairs through the gradient ascent. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly outperforms important benchmarks, and also validate the performance and practicality under different algorithm parameters and environment settings. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are widely used in photocatalytic degradation of antibiotic pollutants under ultraviolet (UV)-light, but their efficiency under visible light is hampered by large band gaps and layer agglomeration. To address these challenges, we have successfully developed innovative bimetallic NiCo LDHs-MXenes heterostructures (LDHs-MXenes) for enhanced degradation of tetracycline (TC) pollutants under visible light conditions. As-prepared LDHs-MXenes photocatalysts (20 mg) show exceptional performance, achieving ~97.4% TC degradation efficiency (20 mg L-1, 100 mL) within just 50 minutes under a 300 W Xe lamp. This significant enhancement underscores the synergistic effects derived from the combination of LDHs and MXenes nanosheets. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, a non-contact method of human vital signs detection is proposed. Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar is used, and the variational mode decomposition (VMD) algorithm is applied to the separation of respiratory and heartbeat components in the vital signs. The FMCW radar measures the weak chest surface vibration caused by human respiration and heartbeat movement. After signal windowing and pre-processing, the vital signs of human body at different distances are obtained, and the respiratory and heartbeat components are separated by VMD algorithm. Compared with empirical mode decomposition (EMD), adaptive ensemble empirical mode decomposition (CEEMDAN), the method based on VMD improves the accuracy of the separated instantaneous frequencies of respiratory and heartbeat components, and reduces the fluctuation of real-time vital sign detection results. © 2021 IEEE.

This study addresses the robust output containment control problem of heterogeneous uncertain multi-agent systems under Markovian switching topologies. A novel distributed output feedback controller is proposed. Based on the internal model approach, the main result shows that the output of each follower agent converges to the convex hull formed by the outputs of the leader agents under the proposed distributed controller. An illustrative example is given to validate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

The OLSR routing protocol is a proactive Linkstate routing protocol in Ad hoc networks. It uses MPR nodes to spread TC messages across the network, reducing the flooding of protocol control messages in the network. However, all MPR nodes used to propagate a TC message in the whole network are not optimal, and there are a lot of redundancy, which results in unnecessary forwarding of TC messages and increases the overhead of control protocol. To overcome this limitation, the concepts of multi-point one hop neighbor relay (MPOHNR) and multi-point two hop neighbor relay (MPTHNR) are proposed, and the node selection algorithms of MPOHNR and MPTHNR are given. By using MPOHNR and MPTHNR to forward TC messages alternately, the number of forwarding nodes is reduced, the control protocol overhead is reduced, the effective bandwidth of the link is greatly increased, and the end-to-end average delay is reduced. Numerical simulations by using the EXATA software verifies that, the improved OLSR routing protocol is a potential design method for optimizing OLSR routing protocol.

This study aims to explore the reform of mechanical drawing teaching and the undergraduate training model with the goal of cultivating high-quality mechanical engineering undergraduate students. Grounded in the concepts of “synergy between science and education” and “integration of competition-oriented education and industry-university collaboration,” this research places talent cultivation as the central focus, linking it with discipline construction and emphasizing scientific research. The study promotes the reform of a collaborative education mechanism known as “integration of competition-oriented education and industry-university collaboration,” effectively establishing a multi-level and multi-dimensional undergraduate training model for mechanical engineering students that incorporates the “dual mentor system” and integrates theory, practice, and application. To apply this model in teaching practice, this research has undertaken the reform of traditional engineering drawing education, specifically addressing the issue of the gap between theory and practice in conventional teaching approaches. The proposed training program not only facilitates the development of innovative mechanical engineering professionals but also offers insights for the reform of undergraduate teaching models in the context of constructing “new engineering disciplines”.
