The failure rate of aluminum electrolytic capacitor (AEC) is high in power electronic systems. Due to the complex structure of AEC, it is difficult to establish an actual model, so experiments are the common way to analyze the failure of AEC. Thus, this paper proposes a finite element method (FEM) for AEC considering electrolytic failure. Firstly, the mechanism of electrolytic failure and changes of characteristic parameters in the AEC are elucidated. Secondly, an equivalent finite element model is established to simulate and analyze the electrolytic failure of AEC. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed AEC FEM method is verified through capacitor aging experiments. © 2023 IEEE.

The Fission Surface Power system is a feasible solution for future lunar surface exploration energy supply, with the solid-state reactor being considered a primary candidate. This paper presents a modeling and analysis of a solid-state reactor based on publicly available information. Using the reactor Monte Carlo program RMC and the commercial finite element analysis software ANSYS, the reactor is modeled and analyzed. The power distribution of the active zone and reactivity feedback coefficients of the entire core are obtained. The result indicates a negative reactivity feedback coefficient, confirming this reactor design's inherent safety. Furthermore, a two-dimensional reactor model is constructed to obtain the temperature distribution during full-power operation, and non-passive residual heat removal analysis and radiative heat loss failure analysis are performed. At the failure condition of all heat pipes, the maximum core temperature is 742 K, which is below the reactor safety temperature limit, confirming the residual heat removal capability of the solid-state reactor in the loss of heat sink. Additionally, the self-developed transient reactor system analysis program is used for thermal safety analysis. The thermal parameters and heat transfer limits of high-temperature alkali metal heat pipes within the reactor are obtained, with the ratio of heat transfer limit to the heat load of 2.05 demonstrating sufficient safety margins of the heat pipe operation in the reactor. The results manifest that the core is satisfied with the existing criteria for anticipated operating occurrences of solid-state reactors, verifying the excellent safety performance of this reactor design. In recent years, with the continuous expansion of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarm applications and the rapid development of the UAV self-organizing network system, the related security threats have also increased. In this paper, we conduct the communication model of the UAV swarm cooperative disaster relief system by verifying the security attributes of the UAV swarm cooperative disaster relief system based on the dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol and we also analyze and verify their security attributes. Finally, we propose a novel scheme to model, characterize, and verify the security attributes of the UAV swarm communication networks. It provides a formal analysis and verification method for verifying the security attributes of self-organized network systems, simplifying a series of challenging verification processes that come with demonstrating the security attributes of the system through simulation experiments. © 2024 SPIE.

Since the NRC issued the PSA policy in 1995, PSA containing risk information has been widely used in supervision and design. Subsequently, the concept of "risk-informed" has gained more and more recognition, and its application has expanded from the initial equipment maintenance to the current design. By analyzing the regulations, standards and other guidance documents of various countries and institutions on safety design, we reviewed the history of risk-informed safety design concepts, methods and their applications, especially the progress of LMP projects in the United States in recent years. We put forward prospects for the development and application of risk-informed concepts and methods in new reactors in the future. © 2023 by JSME.

The formation and growth of voids have significant influence on the dimensional changes of nuclear materials subjected to irradiation. In this paper, we developed a phase-field model to investigate the evolution of voids in binary alloys under irradiation, which includes the process of irradiation-induced defect formation and annihilation. The relationship of alloy composition and defect formation energy was determined. The nucleation and growth of voids for various alloy compositions were simulated to investigate the effect of solute composition on the void growth kinetics. Our simulation results indicate that, the composition of matrix phase and its influence on the formation energy of vacancy are essential for the growth kinetics and void distribution during irradiation. As an example, the void nucleation and growth in U-Zr alloys are also studied and consistence between the present results and experimental observations were obtained. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

AdaptHM: A Fully Adaptive Data Migration Strategy for Hybrid Memory systems

Data migration strategies (DMSs) improve the overall performance of hybrid memory systems by migrating frequently accessed (hot) data to faster memory. However, designing an efficient DMS is challenging since the key metrics of DMS - hot data selection, migration granularity, and migration frequency - are sensitive to access patterns of workloads. Most existing strategies focus on only one of these metrics and often overlook the crucial impact of access patterns, resulting in suboptimal performance and unnecessary migration traffic. In this article, we propose AdaptHM, a fully access-pattern-aware Adaptive DMS for Hybrid Memory systems. AdaptHM achieves adaptability on all three metrics through its unique multilevel data framework. First, AdaptHM adopts a group-level competition policy to select hot blocks, which responds faster to access patterns than threshold-based policies. Second, AdaptHM enables segment-level dynamic migration granularity by decoupling migration from remapping, which shows better-access pattern resilience than existing schemes with fixed-size global migration granularity. Third, AdaptHM adjusts the migration frequency at set-level by periodically assessing the migration benefit, avoiding unnecessary migrations. Experimental results demonstrate that AdaptHM improves the performance by an average of 12.78% and reduces energy consumption by up to 37.24% compared to the state-of-the-art scheme. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

The future sixth-generation(6G) paradigm aims to seamlessly integrate communication and environmental sensing capabilities into a single radio signal, promising improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness through simultaneous data communications and environmental perception. At the core of this evolution, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) and its advanced waveforms emerge as pivotal for integrated sensing and communications(ISAC). This study introduces a concise and unified ISAC waveform design framework based on orthogonal multicarriers. This framework supports versatile applications of OFDM and its derivative waveforms within a generalized ISAC system, marking a significant leap in integrating communication and sensing capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this framework is its adaptability,allowing users to intelligently select modulation strategies based on their specific environmental needs. This adaptability optimizes performance across diverse scenarios. Central to our innovations is the proposal of discrete Fourier transformspread OFDM with index modulation(DFT-S-OFDM-IM). This framework is paired with newly proposed signal processing methods for single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Extensive evaluations highlight DFT-S-OFDM-IM's superiority, including dramatically reduced peak-to-average power ratios(PAPRs), competitive communication performance, and exceptional sensing capabilities, striking an elegant balance between communication capacity and environmental sensing precision.

Launch dynamics modeling and simulation of box-type multiple launch rocket system considering plane clearance contact

As the performance of the box-type multiple launch rocket system (BMLRS) improves, its mechanical structures, particularly the plane clearance design between the slider on the rocket and the guide inside the launch canister, have grown increasingly complex. However, deficiencies still exist in the current launch modeling theory for BMLRS. In this study, a multi-rigid-flexible-body launch dynamics model coupling the launch platform and rocket was established using the multibody system transfer matrix method and the Newton-Euler formulation. Furthermore, considering the bending of the launch canister, a detection algorithm for slider-guide plane clearance contact was proposed. To quantify the contact force and friction effect between the slider and guide, the contact force model and modified Coulomb model were introduced. Both the modal and launch tests were conducted. Additionally, the modal convergence was verified. By comparing the modal experiments and simulation results, the maximum relative error of the eigenfrequency is 3.29%. thereby verifying the accuracy of the developed BMLRS dynamics model. Furthermore, the launch test validated the proposed plane clearance contact model. Moreover, the study investigated the influence of various model parameters on the dynamic characteristics of BMLRS, including launch canister bending stiffness, slider and guide material, slider-guide clearance, slider length and layout. This analysis of influencing factors provides a foundation for future optimization in BMLRS design. © 2024 china Ordnance Society

Multi-level Multi-task representation learning with adaptive fusion for multimodal sentiment analysis

Multimodal sentiment analysis is an active task in multimodal intelligence, which aims to compute the user’s sentiment tendency from multimedia data. Generally, each modality is a specific and necessary perspective to express human sentiment, providing complementary and consensus information unavailable in a single modality. Nevertheless, the heterogeneous multimedia data often contain inconsistent and conflicting sentiment semantics that limits the model performance. In this work, we propose a Multi-level Multi-task Representation Learning with Adaptive Fusion (MuReLAF) network to bridge the semantic gap among different modalities. Specifically, we design a modality adaptive fusion block to adjust modality contributions dynamically. Besides, we build a multi-level multimodal representations framework to obtain modality-specific and modality-shared semantics by the multi-task learning strategy, where modality-specific semantics contain complementary information and modality-shared semantics include consensus information. Extensive experiments are conducted on four publicly available datasets: MOSI, MOSEI, SIMS, and SIMSV2(s), demonstrating that our model exhibits superior or comparable performance to state-of-the-art models. The achieved accuracies are 86.28%, 86.07%, 84.46%, and 82.78%, respectively, showcasing improvements of 0.82%, 0.84%, 1.75%, and 1.83%. Further analyses also indicate the effectiveness of our model in sentiment analysis. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.
