ACP100 NPP designed by CNNC (china national Nuclear Corporation) is a 125MWe, multi-purpose small modular reactor based on pressurized water reactor technology;it adopts the integrated reactor technology. Different application scenarios bring up different design requirements: some require high compactness, but others care more about a longer cycle length, and some may require a fully mature and conservative design;thus, multiple design choices need to be proposed. Also, the same and most important thing cared by all users is that, the design needs to be validated to satisfy the current nuclear safety standards, and lower cost would be always preferred. Core nuclear design is a key part of the whole NPP design. Basically, nuclear design target of ACP100 is to achieve a reasonable good balance during longer cycle length, larger discharge exposure for fuel assemblies, and maximally using the mature technologies, and of course, with sufficient reactivity control ability for safety assurance. Aiming at satisfying all these different needs maximally, a strategy of supplying multiple nuclear design choices is proposed for ACP100: choice 1. Boron-free plan, this is a compact design with no need for chemistry and volume system, no need for da ily boron adjustment and relative waste storage;choice 2. Boron and rod co-controlled plan, this is similar with large commercial PWRs, with a lower power peak factor and suitable for broad location sites. Both choices load 57 units of the same type fuel assemblies CF3S (with height reduced from CF3 fuel assemblies) per cycle, and both adopt partial reload and shuffle fuel management strategy to achieve larger discharge exposure. Gd is loaded in the fuel rods in both choices to help control reactivity. Ensuring the safety of Autonomous Driving systems (ADS) across diverse and unpredictable operational scenarios remains a significant challenge for accident prevention. Central to this effort is the continuous monitoring of Operational design Conditions (ODC), which encompass both in-vehicle factors and external Operational design Domain (ODD). However, the absence of robust methodologies to precisely identify ODC boundaries hinders the deployment and adoption of high-level ADS. This paper introduces a learnable ODC monitor designed to identify implicit operational design condition boundaries to prevent ADS failures. By integrating a state-space duality encoder and a Bayesian neural network decoder, we propose an efficient learnable ODC monitor, termed ODCNet. Furthermore, to further enhance prediction reliability, residual error analysis with linear discrimination is applied for calibrating prediction. Experimental results demonstrate ODCNet's superiority in failure prediction compared to baseline models, achieving a balance between safety and coverage. These findings contribute to advancing data-driven accident prediction and prevention strategies, ensuring safer deployments of ADS in complex environments. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Using Neural Networks to Reduce the Ill-Posedness of Inverse Heat Transfer Problems in the Temperature Rise Transient Process of a Rotating Disk

The working state change of the rotating disk cavities caused by the transient heat transfer is one of the main reasons for the high failure risk of aero-engines in the transient process, which makes the accurate measurement of transient heat transfer characteristics in the transient process of rotating disk cavities become an extremely important issue for the safety design of aero-engines. However, as one of the most widely used methods for measuring heat transfer characteristics, the inverse heat transfer problem method has the characteristics of ill-posed, and the errors of heat transfer characteristics are extremely sensitive to temperature errors. In this paper, a back propagation (BP) neural network approximation technique is used to reduce the ill-posedness of transient inverse heat transfer problems of a rotating disk. The numerical experimental results show that the application of this method in transient inverse heat transfer problems will generate a time-space end edge effect, that is, the ill-posedness in the area near the end edge of time and space has not been effectively reduced, and the wall heat flux still has significant errors in this area. To address this issue, the radial basis function (RBF) neural network local data correction method and time dimension data extension method are proposed to effectively suppress the time-space end edge effect. After improvement, the method proposed in this paper can reduce the transient wall heat flux errors in most time-space regions by 1 ~ 2 orders of magnitude;Within the scope of this study, the minimum proportion of the area where the ill-posedness of transient inverse heat transfer problem is reduced in the entire time-space region is about 91.7%, and the maximum proportion can reach about 98.6%. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of the two improved methods are compared. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Printed circuit board (PCB) placement is a critical stage in industrial chip design, which still heavily relies on manual methods, leading to substantial design time consumption. Given the frequent occurrence of similar or identical modules in different PCB designs, the reuse of placements emerges as a promising avenue to enhance the efficiency of PCB placement. In this paper, we propose a sub graph matching based reference placement algorithm to achieve PCB placement reuse, thereby improving placement efficiency. We first take the netlist of the already placed and unplaced circuits as input and abstract them into graphs. Then, we construct and filter candidate spaces based on the characteristics of components and nets. In the process of filtering candidate spaces, we adopt diversity handling that includes cut edges and block nodes to ensure the proposed algorithm can handle inexact matching. Finally, we introduce virtual nodes to construct a matching tree using a combination of depth-first search (DFS) and breadth-first search (BFS), and then perform hierarchical matching based on this matching tree to complete the sub graph matching and obtain the placement results. Experimental results show that in large-scale PCB cases, our algorithm runs much faster than the state-of-the-art works. Particularly, the matching rate of our algorithm is almost 100% for the tested cases.

Aiming at the high reliability design problem of electromagnetic launch control system, this paper proposes a control system design method based on ARM and FPGA architecture. The overall structure of the control system is divided into three parts: box control, subsystem control and module control. Among them, the subsystem controller is composed of a control motherboard and a pulse power management board. The control motherboard is designed based on the architecture of ARM and FPGA. ARM runs logic related processing, and FPGA processes timing control, synchronous feedback and other functions that require high time accuracy. Based on the host computer software, the current curves of specific discharge energy and discharge time sequence are analyzed. The verification results show that the discharge current waveform can be controlled by controlling the discharge sequence of Pulse Forming Network (PFN) through the control system. Under the condition of long equal interval discharge sequence, the peak current decreases and the wave pattern changes gently. The electromagnetic launch control system realized in this paper has high scalability, can monitor more than twenty pulse power units, and can achieve highly reliable control of the launch system based on single shot and continuous shot operation mode.

In this paper, we focus on network structure inference problem for linear-quadratic (LQ) games from best-response dynamics. An adversary is considered to have no knowledge of the game network structure but have the ability to observe all players’ best-response actions and manipulate some players’ actions. This work presents a comprehensive framework for network learning from best-response dynamics in LQ games. First of all, we establish theoretic results that characterize network structure identifiability and provide numerical examples to demonstrate the usefulness of our theoretic results. Next, in the face of the inherent stability and sparsity constraints for the game network structure, we propose an information-theoretic stable and sparse system identification algorithm for learning the network structure. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed learning algorithm is tested. The connection between network structure inference problem and classical system identification theory is covered by our work, which advances the literature.

Triazine intumescent flame retardant (IFR) PP composites have been widely used in electronic appliances, rail transit, and aerospace fields due to their low smoke, high efficiency and environmental friendliness. However, with the increasing attention to safe production and sustainable development, the green and safe synthesis and biomaterialization of traditional triazine char-forming agents have received extensive attention. Herein, a bio-based triazine char-forming agent N-propionyltriazine-ethylenediamine copolymer (PTEC) was successfully prepared by bio-based β-alanine and cyanuric chloride as raw materials under a pure water system for the first time. A novel bio-based IFR (BIFR) system was constructed with ammonium polyphosphate. Only 24 wt% BIFR make PP pass the UL-94 V-0 rating, and the LOI of PP/BIFR was improved to 29.7 %. Compared to pure PP, the smoke and heat release rate of PP/BIFR composites were decreased by 54.5 % and 76.2 %, respectively. The introduction of BIFR promoted the dehydration and charring of PP composites, and released many inert gases during pyrolysis, which led to the rapid expansion of composites. The formed dense and high-strength char layer exerted excellent shielding effect in the condensed phase. In addition, the PP/BIFR composites retained excellent mechanical properties, and the flexural strength and ductility were significantly improved with the addition of BIFR. This study provided a new way for the safe production and biomaterialization of triazine char-forming agents, and the prepared bio-based PP composites with excellent flame retardancy and mechanical properties showed a great application prospect in construction, building materials and other emerging fields. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

aiWave: Volumetric Image Compression with 3-D Trained Affine Wavelet-like Transform

Volumetric image compression has become an urgent task to effectively transmit and store images produced in biological research and clinical practice. At present, the most commonly used volumetric image compression methods are based on wavelet transform, such as JP3D. However, JP3D employs an ideal, separable, global, and fixed wavelet basis to convert input images from pixel domain to frequency domain, which seriously limits its performance. In this paper, we first design a 3-D trained wavelet-like transform to enable signal-dependent and non-separable transform. Then, an affine wavelet basis is introduced to capture the various local correlations in different regions of volumetric images. Furthermore, we embed the proposed wavelet-like transform to an end-to-end compression framework called aiWave to enable an adaptive compression scheme for various datasets. Last but not least, we introduce the weight sharing strategies of the affine wavelet-like transform according to the volumetric data characteristics in the axial direction to reduce the number of parameters. The experimental results show that: 1) when cooperating our trained 3-D affine wavelet-like transform with a simple factorized entropy coding module, aiWave performs better than JP3D and is comparable in terms of encoding and decoding complexities;2) when adding a context module to remove signal redundancy further, aiWave can achieve a much better performance than HEVC. When the variable geometry hypersonic inlet is sealed with ceramic wafers,the cavity flows inside the sealing chamber can be affected by the boundary layer near the side *** study the influence of the boundary layer thickness near the side wall on the flow and leakage characteristics in sealing chamber,the numerical calculation of the cavity flow in the sealing chamber under different inflow boundary layer thicknesses is carried *** results show that three-dimensional cavity flow structures are close to being asymmetric,and the entrance pressure of the leakage path can also be affected by asymmetry;with the increase of the thickness of the boundary layer,the pressure at the cavity floor and the seal entrance ***,the existing leakage prediction model is modified according to the distribution rule of the cavity floor and the flow properties in the leakage path.

In recent years, the development and deployment of the U.S. weapon equipment systems-of-systems (SoS) have yielded rich research results. However, there are still large gaps in the SoS development, joint testing, and design and acquisition of our own equipment SoS. The barriers of these steps have not yet been opened up. This article mainly analyzes the solutions of the U.S. weapon equipment SoS from three aspects, such as capability-based requirement generation and architecture design technology, interconnected-oriented integration test technology, and weapon equipment design and acquisition technology based on complex adaptive systems. We explore key technologies involved in order to form an overall understanding and explore related research approaches. © 2020 IEEE.
