Polarization and waveform optimization can significantly improve the detection ability of fully polarized radar. However, in practical scenarios, atmospheric particles frequently induce depolarization effects on radar waves, thereby influencing precise target detection, a phenomenon predominantly observed with raindrop particles. This paper establishes a target detection model for fully polarized radar in rainy condition. Subsequently, a joint transceiver iterative optimization algorithm is devised, utilizing the maximum output signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) of the system as the benchmark, and imposing dual constraints of energy and resemblance on the transmitting waveform. Ultimately, the effectiveness of the proposed method under rainy condition is validated through simulation, and recommendations for engineering applications are provided based on the analysis. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2023.

The household energy mix has significant impacts on human health and climate,as it contributes greatly to many health-and climate-relevant air *** to the well-established urban energy statistical system,the rural hous ehold energy statistical system is incomplete and is often associated with high *** a nationwide investigation,this study reve aled high contributions to energy supply from coal and biomass fuels in the rural household energy sector,while electricity comprised ～20%.Stacking(the use of multiple sources of energy) is significant,and the average number of energy types was 2.8 per *** to 2012,the consumption of biomass and coals in 2017 decreased by 45% and 12%,respectively,while the gas consumption amount increased by 204%.Increased gas and decreased coal consumptions were mainly in cooking,while decreased biomass was in both cooking(41%) and heating(59%).The time-sharing fraction of electricity and gases(E&G) for daily cooking grew,reaching 69% in 2017,but for space heating,traditional solid fuels were still dominant,with the national average shared fraction of E&G being only 20%.The non-uniform spatial distribution and the non-linear increase in the fraction of E&G indicated challenges to achieving universal access to modern cooking energy by 2030,particularly in less-developed rural and mountainous *** some non-typical heating zones,the increased share of E&G for heating was significant and largely driven by income growth,but in typical heating zones,the time-sharing fraction was <5 % and was not significantly increased,except in areas with policy *** intervention policy not only led to dramatic increases in the clean energy fraction for heating but also accelerated the clean cooking *** income,higher education,younger age,less energy/stove stacking and smaller family size positively impacted the clean energy transition.

Background: Trunk volume(Vt) is an essential parameter for estimating forest stand volume, biomass, and carbon sequestration potential. As the dominant tree species in desert riparian forests, Euphrates poplar(Populus euphratica) has a high proportion of irregularly shaped tree trunks along the Tarim River, NW China, where the habitat is very fragile owing to long-term water stress. This causes uncertainty in estimation accuracy as well as technical challenges for forest surveys. Our study aimed to acquire P. euphratica Vtusing terrestrial laser scanning(TLS) and to establish a species-specific Vtprediction ***: A total of 240 individual trees were measured by TLS multiple-station in 12 sampling plots in three sections along the lower reaches of the Tarim River. Vtwas calculated by a definite integration method using trunk diameters(Di) at every 0.1-m tree height obtained from TLS, and all data were split randomly into two sets:70% of data were used to estimate the model parameter calibration, and the remaining 30% were used for model validation. Sixteen widely used candidate tree Vtestimation models were fitted to the TLS-measured Vtand tree structural parameter data, including tree height(H), diameter at breast height(DBH), and basal diameter(BD). All model performances were evaluated and compared by the statistical parameters of determination coefficient(R^(2)),root mean square error(RMSE), Bayesian information criterion(BIC), mean prediction error(ME), mean absolute error(MAE), and modeling efficiency(EF), and accordingly the best model was ***: TLS point cloud reflection intensity(RI) has advantageous in the extraction of data from irregular tree trunk structures. The P. euphratica tree Vtvalues showed obvious differences at the same tree height(H). Excess phosphorus(P)in water can lead to eutrophication and upset ecological *** this study,biochar with ultrathin two-dimensional nanosheets from the natural mesocarp of shaddock was chosen as the *** highly dispersed and small particle size of La(OH)_(3) on the surface of the nanosheets(MSBL3)was successfully achieved using chemical impregnation for the adsorption of P in aqueous solution,and the maximum adsorption capacity was 260.0 mg P g^(−1)[La].The differences in surface crystallization of La(OH)_(3) on biochar at different La loadings were analyzed using the high-precision characterization *** six adsorption-desorption cycles,MSBL3 retained 76.7%of its initial performance in terms of the P adsorption *** preparation of 1 g of MSBL3 costs about RMB 1,and it could reduce the P concentration in 2.6 ton of Laoyu River water to below the eutrophication threshold;and the inhibitory effect of MSBL3 on the eutrophication of water bodies was confirmed by the growth state of water ***,0.1 M MSBL3 could inhibit Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus up to 98.7%and 85.0%,respectively,which indicates that MSBL3 can be used to recover P from water and also to improve water *** addition,the growth of the maize seedlings verified that the P-absorbed MSBL3 waste is a good soil fertilizer and can solve the problem of post-treatment of the *** conclusion,MSBL3 prepared in this study is a promising P sorbent for application.

Global climate changes have significantly affected tree growth and forest structures and functions in some arid and semi-arid regions,which are becoming warmer and *** to natural factors such as climate and terrain,some tree species may form different forest patches at the edges of their distribution ***,how forest patches of various sizes respond to climate change is *** this study,we collected 203 tree cores from six different sizes of forest patches at the edge of the distribution area of Picea crassifolia *** the northeast Tibetan *** we used the dendrochronology method to study the response of tree growth and resilience in different forest patches to climate change from 1961 to *** simultaneously measured the contents of nonstructural carbohydrates(NSC),total nitrogen and total phosphorus of tree *** results showed that the growth of trees in small-and medium-size forest patches(0.8–18.6 ha)has increased *** early growing season(May–July)minimum temperature was the most important climate factor driving the growth of small-and medium-sized patch *** early growing season maximum temperature was the most important climate factor that inhibited the growth of trees in the largest patches(362.8 ha).The growth of individual trees in medium forest patches was better and the correlation with annual minimum temperature,maximum temperature,precipitation,actual evapotranspiration,and palmer drought severity index was *** higher NSC content,stronger photosynthesis,and higher nitrogen utilization efficiency in leaves might be one of the reasons for the better growth of trees in moderate forest *** extreme drought years,as the forest patch area increased,the overall trend of tree growth resistance showed a unimodal pattern,with the highest at a forest patch area of 7.1 ha,while the overall trend of tree growth recovery was ***,we should strengthen the management of trees in large

With the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), their application scenarios and task requirements have become more complex, demanding higher standards for subsequent fault diagnosis and equipment maintenance. The actual flight data of UAV usually exhibits small sample sizes and imbalanced characteristics. To achieve more efficient fault prediction for UAV, this paper establishes a SMOTE-IWOA-RF fault diagnosis model. This model optimizes the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) using chaotic initialization, nonlinear convergence factors, and Lévy flight strategies, resulting in better convergence accuracy and global search capability, as well as faster convergence speed. The model is compared with other classification models on data with different imbalance ratios, demonstrating that it is more efficient and accurate in UAV fault diagnosis, with the F1 score improving by about 10% compared to the pre-optimization state. Furthermore, the IWOA-RF model is combined with other data preprocessing methods, showing that SMOTE-IWOA-RF performs better on UAV operational data, indicating its practical value.

Forecasting of ocean currents is critical for both marine meteorological research and ocean engineering and *** and accurate forecasting of coastal current velocities offers a scientific foundation and decision support for multiple practices such as search and rescue,disaster avoidance and remediation,and offshore *** research established a framework to generate short-term surface current forecasts based on ensemble machine learning trained on high frequency radar *** indicate that an ensemble algorithm that used random forests to filter forecasting features by weighting them,and then used the AdaBoost method to forecast can significantly reduce the model training time,while ensuring the model forecasting effectiveness,with great economic *** accuracy is a function of surface current variability and the forecasting *** order to improve the forecasting capability and accuracy of the model,the model structure of the ensemble algorithm was optimized,and the random forest algorithm was used to dynamically select model *** results show that the error variation of the optimized surface current forecasting model has a more regular error variation,and the importance of the features varies with the forecasting *** ten-step ahead forecasting horizon the model reported root mean square error,mean absolute error,and correlation coefficient by 2.84 cm/s,2.02 cm/s,and 0.96,*** model error is affected by factors such as topography,boundaries,and geometric accuracy of the observation *** paper demonstrates the potential of ensemble-based machine learning algorithm to improve forecasting of ocean currents.

Increasing landslide activities in cold regions have been attributed to rising temperatures and consequent permafrost *** previous studies have linked permafrost degradation to slope instability,the elevation-dependent effects of this degradation on landslide occurrences in the high-mountain regions of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau(QTP)remain poorly understood,particularly concerning their spatial distribution and *** study addresses this gap by investigating the distribution and timing of landslides in the Babao River catchment,located in the southeastern Qilian Mountains of the northeastern *** results reveal a substantial increase in landslide events during the study period of 2009–2018:only 14 occurrences were recorded before and in 2009,22 between 2010 and 2015,and 105 during 2016–***,we observed an upward shift in the elevation of landslide occurrences,with an average increase of approximately 130 m over the ten-year *** of annual permafrost distribution maps indicates that this shift coincides with the rising lower altitudinal limit of mountain permafrost in the study area,likely driven by increased temperatures and *** findings highlight the critical role of elevation-dependent processes in influencing landslide dynamics under changing climatic conditions,particularly the transition from undisturbed permafrost to seasonally frozen ground at higher *** study provides valuable insights for disaster prevention and mitigation in high-altitude regions,emphasizing the heightened risks posed by permafrost degradation under ongoing warmer and wetter climatic conditions.
