Renewable and low-cost biomass is an ideal sustainable alternative to petroleum-based resources,but producing biomass-based carbon electrode with high performances remains a ***,we propose a facile self-assembly strategy to fabricate a biomass-derived N,S co-doping carbon electrode from lignosulfonate without any activation or template *** advantage of the coordination between Fe ions and lignosulfonate,the resultant carbon exhibits a spherical structure with abundant graphitized nanosheets,leading to a high specific surface area with rational pore structure,which are beneficial to the electron/ion transport and *** high contents of doping N(8.47 wt%)and S(2.56 wt%)significantly boost the electrochemical *** a supercapacitor electrode,the carbon material displays high specific capacitance of 390 F g^(-1),excellent cycling stability and high energy density of 14.7 W h kg^(-1)at a power density of 450 W kg^(-1).This study provides a potential strategy for synthesizing cost-effective heteroatom-doped carbon materials from biomass with abundant functional groups and heteroatom sources,such as chitosan,collagen,and gelatin.

As part of“The Earth Summit Mission-2022”during the second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research(STEP)in April and May 2022,we conducted the ozone sounding experiment(an ozonesonde mated to a radiosonde)at *** Base Camp(MQBC;86.85°E,28.14°N;5200 m),a location at an extremely high altitude.A total of ten sounding profiles were obtained between April 30 and May 06,2022,of which seven profiles were above35 km in altitude,with a maximum detection altitude up to 39.0 *** study presents the temporal variation and vertical distributions of atmospheric temperature,humidity,and ozone during the MQBC *** averaged ozone concentration was high(68.3 ppbv)at the surface and then increased smoothly until peaking(~110 ppbv)in the middle troposphere(approximately 10 km),and afterward,the ozone concentration increased rapidly from the upper troposphere to a maximum of~10 ppmv at~30 *** enhanced ozone concentration in the middle troposphere was associated with the blocking high pressure,and transport from the southern flank of the Himalayas occurred during the campaign *** average total ozone column was 291.9±21.4 DU for the seven profiles exceeding 35km in *** ozonesonde measurements were also compared with the vertical ozone profiles retrieved from the space-borne ozone products from the Microwave Limb Sounder(MLS)onboard the Aura satellite and the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder(AIRS)onboard the Aqua satellite.

Due to the low density and low temperature of the atmosphere on the surface of Mars, Mars aircraft are usually in compressible flow at low Reynolds number. In this paper, the dynamic stall characteristics of triangular airfoil with reduced frequencies of 0.09 and 0.15 are studied based on large eddy simulation (LES). The incoming Mach number is 0.5 and the Reynolds number is 3000. The results show that, with the increase of reduced frequency, the lift and drag coefficient in dynamic motion gradually deviates from the static lift and drag coefficient, but the dynamic stall angle of attack has little difference with the static stall angle of attack. In order to obtain the main flow structure during blade dynamic stall, dynamic mode decomposition (DMD) was used to decompose and reconstruct the velocity vector field around the blade. The results show that the DMD decomposition modes mainly include time-average flow field with separation flow at the blade tail, lowfrequency large-scale separation flow at the blade leading edge and tail enrolling effect, and high-frequency separation and attachment flow at the blade apex downstream. The first 20 modes reconstruction can basically restore the main flow structure of the flow field. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2023.

High-performance Ni-Co-Mn electrocatalyst recovered from spent lithium-ion battery cathode materials for robust oxygen evolution in acid solution

Recovering valuable metals from spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)for high value-added application is beneficial for global energy cycling and environmental *** this work,we obtain the high-performance N-doped Ni-Co-Mn(N-NCM)electrocatalyst from waste LIBs,for robust oxygen evolution ***-rich solution and NCM oxides are effectively separated from ternary cathode materials by sulfation roasting and low-temperature water leaching approach,in which the recovery efficiency of Li metal reaches nearly 100%.By facile NH_(3)treatment,the incorporation of N into NCM significantly increases the ratio of low-valence state Co^(2+)and Mn^(2+),and the formed Mn-N bond benefits the surface catalytic ***,the N doping induces lattice expansion of the NCM,triggering tensile stress to favor the adsorption of the ***,the optimized N-NCM electrocatalyst exhibits the superior overpotentials of 256 and 453 mV to achieve the current density of 10 and 100 mA/cm^(2),respectively,with a low Tafel slope of 37.3 mV/*** work provides a fresh avenue for recycling spent LIBs in the future to achieve sustainable development.

Construction of advanced electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials with miniaturized,programmable structure and low reflection are promising but ***,an integrated transition-metal carbides/carbon nanotube/polyimide(gradient-conductive MXene/CNT/PI,GCMCP)aerogel frame with hierarchical porous structure and gradient-conductivity has been constructed to achieve EMI shielding with ultra-low *** gradient-conductive structures are obtained by continuous 3D printing of MXene/CNT/poly(amic acid)inks with different CNT contents,where the slightly conductive top layer serves as EM absorption layer and the highly conductive bottom layer as reflection *** addition,the hierarchical porous structure could extend the EM dissipation path and dissipate EM by multiple ***,the GCMCP aerogel frames exhibit an excellent average EMI shielding efficiency(68.2 dB)and low reflection(R=0.23).Furthermore,the GCMCP aerogel frames with miniaturized and programmable structures can be used as EMI shielding gaskets and effectively block wireless power transmission,which shows a prosperous application prospect in defense industry and aerospace.

The increasing intensity of human activities has led to a critical environmental challenge:widespread metal ***(Mn)oxides have emerged as potentially natural scavengers that perform crucial functions in the biogeochemical cycling of metal *** reviews have focused on the synthesis,characterization,and adsorption kinetics of Mn oxides,along with the transformation pathways of specific layered Mn *** review conducts a meticulous investigation of the molecular-level adsorption and oxidation mechanisms of Mn oxides on hazardous metals,including adsorption patterns,coordination,adsorption sites,and redox *** also provide a comprehensive discussion of both internal factors(surface area,crystallinity,octahedral vacancy content in Mn oxides,and reactant concentration)and external factors(pH,presence of doped or preadsorbed metal ions)affecting the adsorption/oxidation of metals by Mn ***,we identify existing gaps in understanding these mechanisms and suggest avenues for future *** goal is to enhance knowledge of Mn oxides'regulatory roles in metal element translocation and transformation at the microstructure level,offering a framework for developing effective metal adsorbents and pollution control strategies.

Graphene oxide(GO)has been widely used in the modification of membranes due to its excellent properties,i.e.,huge specific surface area,good electrical conductivity,good hydrophilicity and various functional *** addition of GO in membranes were proved to exhibit improved properties in water permeability,molecular selectivity,membrane fouling mitigation and contaminants ***,the development of laminated GO in membranes achieved both high selectivity and high water permeability,conquering the limitations of conventional polymeric or inorganic *** analyzing the separation mechanisms and the performance of GO composite membranes,this review systematically summarized the applications of GO composite membranes in three highlighted areas of environmental fields:desalination,gas separation and wastewater treatment,with challenges discussed faced with GO composite membranes.

Tropospheric reactive bromine is important for atmospheric chemistry,regional air pollution,and global *** studies have reported measurements of atmospheric reactive bromine species in different environments,and proposed their main sources,***-salt aerosol（SSA）,oceanic biogenic activity,polar snow/ice,and *** and other strong cyclonic activities（***） induce abrupt changes in different earth system processes,causing widespread destructive ***,the role of typhoons in regulating reactive bromine abundance and sources remains ***,we report field observations of bromine oxide（BrO）,a critical indicator of reactive bromine,on the Huaniao Island（HNI）in the East China Sea in July *** observed high levels of BrO below 500 m with a daytime average of9.7±4.2 pptv and a peak value of ～26 pptv under the influence of a *** field measurements,supported by model simulations,suggest that the typhoon-induced drastic increase in wind speed amplifies the emission of SSA,significantly enhancing the activation of reactive bromine from SSA *** also detected enhanced BrO mixing ratios under high NOxconditions（ppbv level） suggesting a potential pollution-induced mechanism of bromine release from *** elevated levels of atmospheric bromine noticeably increase ozone destruction by as much as ～40% across the East China *** the high frequency of cyclonic activity in the northern hemisphere,reactive bromine chemistry is expected to play a more important role than previously thought in affecting coastal air quality and atmospheric oxidation *** suggest that models need to consider the hitherto overlooked typhoon-and pollution-mediated increase in reactive bromine levels when assessing the synergic effects of cyclonic activities on the earth system.
