Degradation behaviors of Nabumetone and its metabolite during UV/monochloramine process:Experimental and theoretical study

This study investigated degradation behaviors of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug Nabumetone(NMT)and its major metabolite 6-methoxy-2-naphthylacetic acid(MNA)in the coupling process of ultraviolet and monochloramine(UV/NH2Cl).The second-order rate constants of the contaminants reacting with reactive radicals(HO·,Cl·,Cl_(2)·-,and CO_(3)·^(-))were determined by laser flash photolysis ***·and Cl·contributed predominantly with 52.3%and 21.7%for NMT degradation and 60.8%and 22.3%for MNA *** presence of chlorides retarded the degradation of NMT,while promoted the destruction of MNA,which was ascribed to the photosensitization effects of MNA under UV *** functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed that radical adduct formation(RAF)was dominant pathway for both HO·and Cl·reacting with the contaminants,and hydrogen atom transfer(HAT)preferred to occur on side chains of NMT and *** reacted with NO_(2)·through single electron transfer(SET)with the second-order rate constant calculated to be 5.35×10^(7)(mol/L)^(-1)sec^(-1),and the contribution of NO_(2)·was predicted to be 13.0%of the total rate constant of NMT in pure water,which indicated that NO_(2)·played a nonnegligible role in the degradation of *** acute toxicity and developmental toxicity of NMT were enhanced after UV/NH_(2)Cl treatment,while those of MNA were *** transformation products of both NMT and MNA exhibited higher mutagenicity than their parent *** study provides a deep understanding of the mechanism of radical degradation of NMT and MNA in the treatment of UV/NH2Cl.

The invasion of Spartina alterniflora into China, especially the coastal wetland of Yancheng, is particularly serious. We extracted the spatial distribution, center of mass displacement, and other inversion parameters from S. alterniflora using GF satellite images, and analyzed the spatio-temporal change pattern of S. alterniflora and the trend of evolution of wetland landscape. The results showed that: (i) S. alterniflora in the study area has the characteristics of aggregated distribution with areas of 52.22 km2, 46.52 km2, and 51.66 km2 in 2013,2017 and 2021, respectively. (ii) North of the33° latitude line changes from band distribution of S. alterniflora to cluster distribution, and south of the line spreads to the sea;the 32.8° latitude line has a vacancy of S. alterniflora in 2017, and the natural diffusion invades the area again. (iii) The number and average area of patches, the amount of annual change, and the annual rate of change varied considerably, and the weighted center of mass point showed a southeastward movement. This study has important data support and ecological significance for carrying out conservation and restoration of natural heritage sites. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. 中国提出2030年碳达峰与2060年碳中和目标.在达到碳中和的路径下,得益于清洁空气政策气溶胶排放都将显著降低,这可能会对未来气候产生重要影响.本文利用气候模型结合中国本地化的未来排放情景,发现在达到2060年碳中和的过程中气溶胶减少将在东亚造成0.63 Wm^(-2)的有效辐射强迫以及0.2K的地表增温.最大增温出现在中国东部,为0.5K.同时,华南地区降水将增加(>0.3 mm d^(-1)).尽管碳中和背景下温室气体的减少将有利于缓解气候变化,但是未来清洁空气行动致使气溶胶排放的减少将部分抵消二氧化碳减排带来的气候制冷效应.该研究进一步发现虽然黑碳气溶胶只占中国气溶胶的很少一部分,但降低黑碳排放可能同时有益于空气质量改善并缓解气候变化,达到减污降碳协同增效.

The increasing production and extensive application of chemicals have led to their unintended release and contamination in the environment,posing a hazardous threat to wildlife and human *** studies have demonstrated that developmental toxicity could be induced by various emerging chemicals,causing abnormal embryonic and placental development,adverse pregnancy outcomes,obesity,and dysfunction of lipid metabolism in *** the currently-available experimental technology for developmental toxicological studies,an in vitro model based on stem cells showed promising performance in high-throughput screening of the early-stage developmental toxicity of emerging *** this review,the deleterious effects of environmental pollutants on stem cells were systemically assorted from the aspects of cytological dysfunction,self-renewal impairment,perturbation in embryoid body(EB)formation,and disruption of committed lineage *** toxicological data on the molecular level,including the altered expressions of gene and protein biomarkers,epigenomic regulation,and enhanced oxidative stress,were collected and summarized to provide the mechanism explanation for the link between environmental pollutant exposure and unfavorable phenotypes in stem *** advantage of the stem cell model in developmental toxicological studies was specifically *** the perspectives for stem cells were ultimately highlighted in the research field of environmental toxicology,especially developmental toxicology during the early stage of life.

Unlocking high-performance HCl adsorption at elevated temperatures: the synthesis and characterization of robust Ca–Mg–Al mixed oxides

The presence of HCl and SO2 gas imposes limitations on syngas utilization obtained from household waste in a wide range of applications. The hydrotalcite-like compounds (HTLs) have been proved that could remove HCl efficiency. However, the research on impact of synthesis conditions of HTLs and SO2 on HCl removal was limited. In this study, a range of Ca–Mg–Al mixed oxide sorbents was synthesized by calcining HTLs, with variations in crystallization temperature, solution pH, and the Ca/Mg molar ratio. These sorbents were examined for their effectiveness in removing HCl at medium–high temperatures under diverse conditions. The adsorption performance of selected sorbents for the removal of HCl, SO2, and HCl-SO2 mixed gas at temperature of 350 °C, 450 °C, and 550 °C, respectively, was evaluated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It was observed that the HTL synthesis parameters significantly influenced the HCl adsorption capacity of Ca–Mg–Al mixed oxides. Notably, HTLs synthesized at 60 °C, a solution pH of 10–11, and a Ca/Mg ratio of 4 exhibited superior crystallinity and optimal adsorption characteristics. For individual HCl and SO2 removal, temperature had a minor effect on HCl adsorption but significantly impacted SO2 adsorption rates. At temperatures above 550 °C, SO2 removal efficiency substantially decreased. When exposed to a mixed gas, the Ca–Mg–Al mixed oxides could efficiently remove both HCl and SO2 at temperatures below 550 °C, with HCl dominating the adsorption process at higher temperatures. This dual-action capability is attributed to several mechanisms through which HTL sorbents interacted with HCl, including pore filling, ion exchange, and cation exchange. Initially, HCl absorbed onto specific sites created by water and CO2 removal due to the surface’s polarity. Subsequently, HCl reacted with CaCO3 and CaO formed during HTL decomposition. Transient Green's functions of dislocations in transversely isotropic and layered poroelastic half-spaces

We derive, for the first time, the transient response (or Green's function, GF) induced by a general point dislocation in a transversely isotropic and layered poroelastic half-space where the contributions from the fluid dislocation and fluid-phase coupling effect are considered. The GF is expressed in terms of the powerful Fourier-Bessel series system of vector functions recently introduced (with the expansion coefficients being the novel dislocation Love numbers). The corresponding source functions, i.e. discontinuities across the source level, are derived, which show that 1) the fluid-phase creates a new type of source functions called fluid dislocation, and 2) it further contributes directly to the traditional solid horizontal tensile dislocation (or tensile-fracture) via the Biot effective stress coefficient. While the dual-variable and position (DVP) method is applied to take care of multilayers, the Talbot's method is employed to carry out the inverse Laplace transform, both showing excellent numerical stability, efficiency, and accuracy. key features of these GFs are analyzed numerically. It is shown that 1) the poroelastic process is featured by some transient statuses, including drained and undrained limits;2) while these two limits are sharply different when the dislocation source is a vertical strike-slip or horizontal tensile-fracture, they are the same when a vertical dip-slip or vertical tensile-fracture is in a homogeneous half-space;3) in all the cases, there are temporal poroelastic deformations which are significantly different from these two limits;and 4) the fluid dislocation alone could significantly contribute to the poroelastic deformation at the earlier time history. These GFs provide the kernel functions in the corresponding boundary element formulation and the method of fundamental solutions, with potential applications in geomechanics and biomedical engineering. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

As one of the regions most affected by global cli-mate warming,the Tianshan mountains has experienced sev-eral ecological crises,including retreating glaciers and water *** warming in these mountains is considered mainly to be caused by increases in minimum temperatures and winter temperatures,while the influence of maximum temperatures is *** this study,a 300-year tree-ring chronology developed from the Western Tianshan Moun-tains was used to reconstruct the summer(June-August)maximum temperature(T_(max6-8))variations from 1718 to *** reconstruction explained 53.1% of the variance in the observed T_(max6-8).Over the past 300 years,the T_(max6-8)reconstruction showed clear interannual and decadal *** was a significant warming trend(0.18°C/decade)after the 1950s,which was close to the increasing rates of the minimum and mean *** increase in maximum temperature was also present over the whole Tianshan mountains and its impact on climate warming has *** T_(max6-8) variations in the Western Tianshan mountains were influenced by frequent volcanic eruptions combined with the influence of solar activity and the sum-mer North Atlantic *** study reveals that cli-mate warming is significantly influenced by the increase in maximum temperatures and clarifies possible driving mech-anisms of temperature variations in the Western Tianshan mountains which should aid climate predictions.

An experimental evaluation of pile-anchor strengthening mechanics for existing tunnels in landslide region

The landslides have an important influence on the force and deformation of existing tunnels,which may adversely affect the liner structures and even endanger normal *** scholars have made few efforts to investigate the reinforcement measures for existing tunnels in the landslide region,and even paid less attention to probe into the pile-anchor strengthening mechanics.A new kind of pile-anchor strengthening system for existing tunnels has been proposed in this paper considering the influences of deforming land-slides,in which the anti-slide pile,the anchor cable and the tunnel lining were integrated as one force *** order to observe the pile-anchor strengthening mechanics,three physical model tests for comparative analyses were established in case of the tunnel axis parallel to the sliding direction of landslide,including the conditions without reinforcements,only with anti-slide pile and full with the pile-anchor strengthening *** for the pile-anchor strengthening model tests,the extra experimental evaluation for the interaction mechanics between existing tunnel and landslide was added,such as,the tunnel diameter of 40 and 50 mm and the pile-anchor of three and six *** addition,three-dimensional numerical models were implemented to analyze the landslide deformation and the internal force of tunnels after installing the pile-anchor strengthening *** with non-reinforcement,the bending moment of tunnel and contact stress at interface between tunnel and landslide at the position of 200 m away from tunnel entrance with six pairs pile-anchor reinforcement dropped by 97.2% and 50%.The results show that the deformation of landslide,the bending moment of existing tunnel and the contact stress at the interface between tunnel and landslide pronouncedly diminish after taking the pile-anchor strengthening *** new combined pile-anchor system has higher bearing capacity and stability,which can further improve the operation

Seawater has good electrical conductivity and electromagnetic wave attenuation greatly in seawater. The long-distance information transmission based on electromagnetic wave in seawater has always been a problem of concern to everyone. The cross air-sea lateral wave propagation mode can realize efficient long-range information transmission, but the spatial distribution of cross air-sea lateral wave field and the impedance characteristics of transmitting antenna are complex. Based on low-frequency Propagation theory, the characteristics of Lateral wave propagation and impedance of transmitting antenna are analyzed to provide theoretical support for the application of lateral wave in space.
