Simulations of dissolved oxygen concentration in CMIP5 Earth system models

The climatologies of dissolved oxygen concentration in the ocean simulated by nine Earth system models(ESMs) from the historical emission driven experiment of CMIP5(Phase 5 of the Climate Model Intercomparison Project) are quantitatively evaluated by comparing the simulated oxygen to the WOA09 observation based on common statistical metrics. At the sea surface, distribution of dissolved oxygen is well simulated by all nine ESMs due to well-simulated sea surface temperature(SST), with both globally-averaged error and root mean square error(RMSE) close to zero, and both correlation coefficients and normalized standard deviation close to 1. However, the model performance differs from each other at the intermediate depth and deep ocean where important water masses exist. At the depth of 500 to 1 000 m where the oxygen minimum zones(OMZs) exist, all ESMs show a maximum of globally-averaged error and RMSE, and a minimum of the spatial correlation coefficient. In the ocean interior, the reason for model biases is complicated, and both the meridional overturning circulation(MOC) and the particulate organic carbon flux contribute to the biases of dissolved oxygen distribution. Analysis results show the physical bias contributes more. Simulation bias of important water masses such as North Atlantic Deep Water(NADW), Antarctic Bottom Water(AABW) and North Pacific Intermediate Water(NPIW) indicated by distributions of MOCs greatly affects the distributions of oxygen in north Atlantic, Southern Ocean and north Pacific, *** the model simulations of oxygen differ greatly from each other in the ocean interior, the multi-model mean shows a better agreement with the observation.

This paper proposes a complex network topology optimization method based on NSGA-II with degrees and edges number unchanged. The method selects the elite parent networks by applying non-dominated layer sorting and congestion degree calculation through the network crossover and mutation operation to achieve maximum network efficiency and network invulnerability. Simulation analysis shows that the method can significantly improve the invulnerability and network efficiency of the initial networks at the same time. Optimizing the network efficiency makes the network connection show a negative correlation. The network presents a "multi-core decentralized" structure;optimizing the network invulnerability makes the connection show a positive correlation, the network presents a "close core and scattered periphery" structure;the cooperative optimization makes the network present a "tighter core and large periphery" structure, which is proved with good theoretical generality and practical application value. © 2019 IEEE.

In order to control the infrared radiation properties by adjusting the micro morphology of SiC particles, we analyze the radiation characteristics of solid and hollow SiC particles with different scales. The results show that the particle size has a great influence on the radiation characteristics of SiC spherical solid particles, and the particle thickness directly affects the amplitude changes of extinction and scattering absorption peaks of SiC spherical hollow particles with small scale (d=100nm). © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, a dispersive conformal FDTD method have been proposed to accurate model the interface between two adjacent dispersive mediums. The method is based on the technology of area average between two adjacent dispersive interfaces, which is different from existing dispersive conformal FDTD schemes which involve with the interface between free space and dispersive medium. numerical results show the proposed method would enhance the accurate level compared to the staircasing FDTD scheme involved in the inhomogeneous plasma.

We analyze the radiation characteristics of Si3N4 elementary particles based on Mie theory, and Si3N4 cluster particles by GMM theory. The results show that the larger the Si3N4 cluster particles, the larger the extinction factor and scattering factor, which variation trend is similar to that of the elementary particles with the same scale, and the position of the scattering peak is also similar to that of the elementary particles. The influence of cluster particles on the amplitude of absorption factor is relatively small, but some absorption characteristic peaks disappear, which is very different from the elementary particles with the same scale. © 2022 IEEE.

Based on electromagnetic scattering mechanism, Mie scattering theory and Monte Carlo method are used to analyze the radiation characteristics of SiC particle swarm with different distribution forms in this paper. The study find that the form of particle size distribution has a significant impact on the spectral transmittance of particle swarms. The proportion of particles of different sizes in the particle size distribution, the dispersion of particle size distribution, and the span of particle size scale all affect the infrared extinction performance of particle swarms in varying degrees. Among them, the proportion of particles of specific size in the particle size distribution is the most one, which is a necessary factor to ensure the existence and amplitude of particle characteristic spectra. The relationship between particle size distribution and radiation characteristics was deeply analyzed, and the results showed that increasing the proportion of particles within the 0.16~2.5µm particle size range of SiC particle can comprehensively improve the extinction performance of SiC particle swarm, which is of practical significance for optimizing the infrared radiation performance of particle swarms. © 2023 SPIE.

There is a risk of information leakage in the process of wireless communication. The introduction of key generation in the physical layer can effectively improve the security of wireless communication. This paper proposes a new physical layer key generation method in the TDD (time division duplex) communication system. Assume that the uplink and downlink channels are reciprocal. Through LDPC (Low Density Parity Check)channel coding and negotiation algorithm, the inconsistency rate of key generation between Alice and Bob is reduced. Simulation and analysis results show that the method improves the key generation rate and reduces the key inconsistency rate. © 2019 IEEE.

The piecewise linear recursive convolution(PLRC) method based on finite difference time domain(FDTD) is used to calculate the reflection and transmission characteristics of electromagnetic waves from one-dimensional unmagnetized plasma. The results are shown that this method has obvious advantages in accurately calculating the electromagnetic problems of one-dimensional, small-scale and thin-layer dielectric materials. © 2022 IEEE.

The radar echo database is constructed from the point scattering model and the micro-Doppler spectrogram dataset is obtained then. In this article, a radiation patternreconfigurable patch antenna with tunable complementary split-ring resonators (CSRR) based on liquid metal (LM) and 3-D printed microfluidics is presented. The antenna is composed of three layers, a top coaxial fed rectangular patch, a middle ground plane with two CSRRs etched symmetrically, and two bottom microfluidics channels each adhered underneath the corresponding CSRR. Pattern reconfiguration is achieved by filling the microfluidic channels with the liquid metal plugs to change the physical parameters of the CSRR structure. By adjusting the length of the slot stubs in CSRRs, the main beam of the double CSRR-loaded antenna can be continuously scanned from -46° to 46° in elevation plane. © 2022 IEEE.
