The massive amounts of open source software provide sufficient reusable resources for software development. Most of the OSS communities adopt a kind of categorization or tagging mechanism to organize the software. However, the categorization often too coarse, while the tags are flat and fail to capture the inter-relation among them. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to reveal the latent relations between tags and build a tag hierarchy to help locate resources. We firstly build a co-occurrence network, based on which we compare the connotations of tags and construct a preliminary hierarchy. Then we leverage the domain knowledge of category in SourceForge to optimize and improve the relations between tags. At the end, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the constructed tag hierarchy with quantitative evaluation, which suggest the validation of our approach. © 2015 ACM.

With the dramatic growing of mobile application markets, users can find apps with any function they desire in these markets. However, the huge amounts of apps make it quite a challenge for users to discover good applications efficiently. Previous studies recommend applications based on the download history, user ratings or app usage records. Most of these studies fail to capture users' personal interests in mobile applications precisely. In this paper, we leverage apps as features for describing user's personal interests and propose a novel approach to do personalized recommendation. We introduce a Small-Crowd model to distinguish apps at reflecting users' personal interests, and design a weighting method to rank the installed apps for users by combining the global download information with fine-grained app usage records. The extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of our approach which outperforms state-of-the-art method. Copyright 2014 ACM.

This paper presents a new approach to generating configuration-oriented executable symbolic test sequences from extended finite state machine (EFSM) models. The information about the values of the context variables and the domain intervals of the input parameters are exploited to guide the derivation of the test sequences. Meanwhile, the transition guards along the test sequences are continually used to reduce the domain intervals of the input parameters. Experiments indicate that this method significantly reduces the EFSM state space to be explored and the number of non-executable symbolic test sequences to be generated. Since parameterized input events are allowed to occur in EFSM cycles, this method is suitable for testing the open reactive systems that interact with the environments via parameterized input events.

Test oracles are widely used to verify whether a system under test is running as desired. Since the correctness of real-time systems depends on the logical results of the computation and the time when results are produced at the same time, an optimized model checking-based method for test oracles generation is proposed to check if the system traces satisfy their real-time specifications at run time. Inspired by the idea of real-time model checking, the test oracles can be automatically generated from their specifications in the real-time logic MITL/sub [o,d]/ in a simpler way and modelled by a variant of the timed automata. Assertions are chosen to acquire the traces of real-time systems. A case study is presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the method proposed in this paper.

Recently, many researches propose that social media tools can promote the collab.ration among developers, which are beneficial to the software development. Nevertheless, there is little empirical evidence to confirm that using @-mention has indeed a beneficial impact on the issues in GitHub. In this paper, we analyze the data from GitHub and give some insights on how @-mention is used in the issues (general- issues and pull-requests). Our statistical results indicate that, @-mention attracts more participants and tends to be used in the difficult issues. @-mention favors the solving process of issues by enlarging the visibility of issues and facilitating the developers' collab.ration. In addition to this global study, our study also build a @-network based on the @-mention database we extract. Through the @-network, we can mine the relationships and characteristics of developers in GitHub's issues. © 2015 ACM.

In bug tracking system, the high volume of incoming bug reports poses a serious challenge to project managers. Triaging these bug reports manually consumes time and resources which leads to delaying the resolution of important bugs. StackOverow is the most popular crowdsourcing Q&A community with plenty of bug-related posts. In this paper, we explore the correlation between bug severity and the crowd attributes of linked posts. Two typical types of projects' bug repositories are studied here, e.g. Mozilla (user-centric project) and Eclipse (developer-centric project). Our results show that the bug severity is consistent with the crowd- based knowledge both in Mozilla and Eclipse, i.e. the linked posts of severe bugs have higher score etc. in StackOverow than non-severe bugs. This interesting phenomenon inspires us that we can optimize the existing evaluation methods of bug severity by incorporating the crowd-based knowledge from a third-party in future. © 2015 ACM.

Virtual network is an important approach to support multiple legacy applications running unmodified in distributed virtual computing environments. A virtual networking approach called VirNet is proposed in this paper. VirNet can build multiple customized and isolated virtual networks simultaneously on the same physical hosts in the network, and it enables existing distributed applications written for LANs to run seamlessly on Internet. VirNet is designed completely in user space and requires no change to the kernel of operating systems. Experimental evaluation performed by a reference implementation shows that VirNet is efficient. The latency overhead caused by VirNet is very small and the bandwidth of VirNet is more than 85% of the availab.e physical network bandwidth in both the LAN and emulated WAN environments. © 2009 IEEE.

In this paper, we present three parallel approximate string matching methods on a parallel architecture with heterogeneous workstations to gain supercomputer power at low cost. The first method is the static master-worker with uniform distribution strategy, the second one is the dynamic master-worker with allocation of subtexts and the third one is the dynamic master-worker with allocation of text pointers. Further, we propose a hybrid parallel method that combines the advantages of static and dynamic parallel methods in order to reduce the load imbalance and communication overhead. This hybrid method is based on the following optimal distribution strategy: the text collection is distributed proportional to workstation's speed. We evaluated and compared the performance of the four methods with clusters one, two, four, six and eight heterogeneous workstations. The experimental results demonstrate that dynamic allocation of text pointers and hybrid methods achieve better performance than the two original ones. We also present an analytical performance model for the four methods that confirms the actual behaviour of the experimental results. © 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This paper presents a in-place cycle-reducing method for multidimensional arrays transposition in local memory to reduce the memory R/W operations. The resulting method can significantly reduce the number of subcycles (also called following-cycles) and that of memory operations for square arrays. Taking square array 256 by 256 for example, the number of subcycles used by current availab.e best algorithm can be reduced from 32894 to only 574, using our new method, and the memory operation number can be reduced by about 32.58%, from 98430 to 66366. Taking advantage of this new method, the elapsed time can be reduced as a result. The number of cycles and operations can also be reduced for 2D rectangle arrays with 2m rows and 2n column stored in column-major, especially n=2m, even though the improvement is not as significant as that for square arrays. The improved 2D in-place algorithm has been extended to 3D arrays, and some theoretic and numerical results are also provided. Furthermore, we develop a new in-place 3D arrays transposition algorithm. This algorithm is very important for a deep research for multidimensional arrays. Experimental results show that our algorithm can improve efficiency significantly, compared to some other 3D array transposition schemes. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper presents a high performance parallel formulation for 1-D FFT based on transpose algorithm. The parallel scheme of FFT trades off some efficiency for a more consistent level of parallel performance. It involves matrix transposition, and a new in-place transposing algorithm is introduced into the parallel matrix transposition to improve the efficiency. Depending on the size of the input n, the number of processes p, and the memory or network bandwidth, this method can achieve better parallel performance than the other on cluster of SMP architectures. Test shows us that our scheme can achieve a good speedup. ©2010 IEEE.
