As deep learning grows rapidly, model training heavily relies on parallel methods and there exist numerous cluster configurations. However, current preferences for parallel training focus on data centers, overlooking the financial constraints faced by most researchers. To attain the best performance within the cost limitation, we introduce a throughput-cost metric to accurately characterize clusters' cost-effectiveness. Based on this metric, we design a cost-effective cluster featuring the 3090 with NVLink. The experiment results demonstrate that our cluster achieves remarkable cost-effectiveness in various distributed model training schemes. © 2023 IEEE.

Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) has received widespread attention for its photo-realistic novel view synthesis quality. Current methods mainly represent the scene based on point sampling of ray casting, ignoring the influence of the observed area changing with distance. In addition, The current sampling strategies are all focused on the distribution of sampling points on the ray, without paying attention to the sampling of the ray. We found that the current ray sampling strategy for scenes with the camera moving forward severely reduces the convergence speed. In this work, we extend the point representation to area representation by using relative positional encoding, and propose a ray sampling strategy that is suitable for camera trajectory moving forward. We validated the effectiveness of our method on multiple public datasets. © 2023 IEEE.

Time series data are pervasive in varied real-world applications, and accurately identifying anomalies in time series is of great importance. Many current methods are insufficient to model long-term dependence, whereas some anomalies can be only identified through long temporal contextual information. This may finally lead to disastrous outcomes due to false negatives of these anomalies. Prior arts employ Transformers (i.e., a neural network architecture that has powerful capability in modeling long-term dependence and global association) to alleviate this problem;however, Transformers are insensitive in sensing local context, which may neglect subtle anomalies. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a local-adaptive Transformer based on cross-correlation for time series anomaly detection, which unifies both global and local information to capture comprehensive time series patterns. Specifically, we devise a cross-correlation mechanism by employing causal convolution to adaptively capture local pattern variation, offering diverse local information into the long-term temporal learning process. Furthermore, a novel optimization objective is utilized to jointly optimize reconstruction of the entire time series and matrix derived from cross-correlation mechanism, which prevents the cross-correlation from becoming trivial in the training phase. The generated cross-correlation matrix reveals underlying interactions between dimensions of multivariate time series, which provides valuable insights into anomaly diagnosis. Extensive experiments on six real-world datasets demonstrate that our model outperforms state-of-the-art competing methods and achieves 6.8%-27.5% F1 score improvement. Our method also has good anomaly interpretability and is effective for anomaly diagnosis. © 2023 IEEE.

Conventional Knowledge Graph Reasoning (KGR) models learn the embeddings of KG components over the structure of KGs, but their performances are limited when the KGs are severely incomplete. Recent LLM-enhanced KGR models input KG structural information into LLMs. However, they require fine-tuning on open-source LLMs and are not applicable to closed-source LLMs. Therefore, in this paper, to leverage the knowledge in LLMs without fine-tuning to assist and enhance conventional KGR models, we propose a new three-stage pipeline, including knowledge alignment, KG reasoning and entity reranking. Specifically, in the alignment stage, we propose three strategies to align the knowledge in LLMs to the KG schema by explicitly associating unconnected nodes with semantic relations. Based on the enriched KGs, we train structure-aware KGR models to integrate aligned knowledge to original knowledge existing in KGs. In the reranking stage, after obtaining the results of KGR models, we rerank the top-scored entities with LLMs to recall correct answers further. Experiments show our pipeline can enhance the KGR performance in both incomplete and general situations. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Sparse Matrix-Dense Matrix Multiplication (SpMM) is a crucial kernel used in a wide range of fields including machine learning and linear algebra solvers. Thus, enhancing the performance of SpMM is essential. The uneven distribution of non-zeros in sparse matrices and the tight data dependency between sparse and dense matrices make efficiently running SpMM on various hardware platforms challenging. To address these issues, optimisations are tailored according to the characteristics of the different hardware platforms. In this study, we propose a Long Row Split and Short Row Merge (LSSM) approach on the new MIMD computing platform PEZY-SC3s, utilising the standard Compressed Sparse Row (CSR) format to optimise SpMM. Specifically, LSSM divides the rows of the sparse matrix into short rows (rows with a number of non-zeros less than blockSize) and long rows (rows with a number of non-zeros greater than blockSize), applying splitting to the long rows and merging to the short rows to optimize their computations separately. Additionally, based on the hardware features of PEZY-SC3s, we employed the atomic cache for workload scheduling, SIMD instructions to accelerate computation, and Local Memory to reduce data read-write operations, addressing issues of poor data locality, workload imbalance, and vectorisation during SpMM execution. As the first study of SpMM on PEZY-SC3s, compared with BS-SpMM and RoDe-SpMM implemented on PEZY-SC3s, LSSM-SpMM offers up to 26.17× and 13.59× acceleration on the SuiteSparse and deep learning datasets, respectively, with geometric mean speedups of 1.56× and 1.71×. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Blockchain technology has been extensively uti-lized in decentralized data-sharing applications, with the immutability of blockchain providing a witness for the circulation of data. However, current blockchain data-sharing solutions still fail to address the simultaneous screening needs of both the sender and receiver with multi-keywords. Without the capability to support bilateral simultaneous filtering, the disclosure of reasons for matching failures could inadvertently expose sensitive user data. Therefore, the challenge lies in enabling ciphertexts with multiple keywords and receivers with multiple interests to achieve mutual and simultaneous matching. Based on the technical foundations of SE (Searchable Encryption), MABE (Multi-Attribute Based Encryption), and polynomial fitting, this paper proposes a scheme called DMSA (Decentralized and Multi-keyword selective Sharing and selective Acquisition). This scheme can satisfy soundness, enabling ciphertexts carrying multiple keywords and receivers representing multiple interests to match each other simultaneously. We conducted a security analysis that confirms the security of DMSA against chosen-plaintext attacks. Our experimental results demonstrate a significant efficiency improvement, with a 67% increase over single-keyword data-sharing schemes and a 16% enhancement compared to the existing multi-keyword data-sharing solution. © 2024 IEEE.

Benefiting from Pre-trained Language Model (PLM), Event Argument Extraction (EAE) methods have achieved SOTA performance in general scenarios of Event Extraction (EE). However, with increasing concerns and regulations on data privacy, aggregating distributed data among different institutions in some privacy-sensitive territories (e.g., medical record analysis, financial statement analysis, etc.) becomes very difficult, and it’s hard to train an accurate EAE model with limited local data. Federated Learning (FL) provides promising methods for a large number of clients to collaboratively learn a shared global model without the need to exchange privacy-sensitive data. Therefore, we propose a privacy-preserving EAE method named FedEAE based on FL to solve the current difficulties. To better adapt to federated scenarios, we design a dataset named FedACE generated from the ACE2005 dataset under IID and Non-IID for our experiments. Extensive experiments show that FedEAE achieves promising performance compared to existing baselines, thus validates the effectiveness of our method. Self-supervised time series anomaly detection (TSAD) demonstrates remarkable performance improvement by extracting high-level data semantics through proxy tasks. Nonetheless, most existing self-supervised TSAD techniques rely on manual- or neural-based transformations when designing proxy tasks, overlooking the intrinsic temporal patterns of time series. This paper proposes a local temporal pattern learning-based time series anomaly detection (LTPAD). LTPAD first generates sub-sequences. Pairwise sub-sequences naturally manifest proximity relationships along the time axis, and such correlations can be used to construct supervision and train neural networks to facilitate the learning of temporal patterns. Time intervals between two sub-sequences serve as labels for sub-sequence pairs. By classifying these labeled data pairs, our model captures the local temporal patterns of time series, thereby modeling the temporal pattern-aware "normality". Abnormal scores of testing data are acquired by evaluating their conformity to these learned patterns shared in training data. Extensive experiments show that LTPAD significantly outperforms state-of-the-art competitors. © 2025 IEEE.

The goal of knowledge graph completion (KGC) is to predict missing facts among entities. Previous methods for KGC re-ranking are mostly built on non-generative language models to obtain the probability of each candidate. Recently, generative large language models (LLMs) have shown outstanding performance on several tasks such as information extraction and dialog systems. Leveraging them for KGC re-ranking is beneficial for leveraging the extensive pre-trained knowledge and powerful generative capabilities. However, it may encounter new problems when accomplishing the task, namely mismatch, misordering and omission. To this end, we introduce KC-GenRe, a knowledge-constrained generative re-ranking method based on LLMs for KGC. To overcome the mismatch issue, we formulate the KGC re-ranking task as a candidate identifier sorting generation problem implemented by generative LLMs. To tackle the misordering issue, we develop a knowledge-guided interactive training method that enhances the identification and ranking of candidates. To address the omission issue, we design a knowledge-augmented constrained inference method that enables contextual prompting and controlled generation, so as to obtain valid rankings. Experimental results show that KG-GenRe achieves state-of-the-art performance on four datasets, with gains of up to 6.7% and 7.7% in the MRR and Hits@1 metric compared to previous methods, and 9.0% and 11.1% compared to that without re-ranking. Currently, the landscape of computer hardware architecture presents the characteristics of heterogeneity and diversity, prompting widespread attention to cross-platform portable parallel programming techniques. Most existing portable programming approaches adopt the "MPI+X" strategy, focusing mainly on node-level "X" parallelism, while inter-node parallelization still relies on manual MPI programming. OP2 is a domain-specific language-based portable parallel programming framework for unstructured mesh applications that supports the automatic generation of MPI parallel code. However, programmers must manually write pre-processing code during code refactoring, such as handling the mapping relationship between global and process-local variables and the initial distribution of process-local data. In this paper, we propose MARO (MPI Automatic Refactoring for OP2), an automatic refactoring method for generating pre-processing code targeting MPI code generation within the OP2 programming framework for unstructured mesh applications. This method automatically generates the pre-processing code required for MPI parallelism through the source-to-source translator, enabling OP2 to generate MPI parallel code without requiring users to write MPI-related code manually. We compare the automatically refactored OP2 applications using the proposed method with those manually refactored to validate its effectiveness.
