RepoLike: a multi-feature-based personalized recommendation approach for open-source repositories

With the deep integration of software collaborative development and social networking, social coding represents a new style of software production and creation paradigm. Because of their good flexibility and openness,a large number of external contributors have been attracted to the open-source communities. They are playing a significant role in open-source development. However, the open-source development online is a globalized and distributed cooperative work. If left unsupervised, the contribution process may result in inefficiency. It takes contributors a lot of time to find suitable projects or tasks from thousands of open-source projects in the communities to work on. In this paper, we propose a new approach called "RepoLike," to recommend repositories for developers based on linear combination and learning to rank. It uses the project popularity, technical dependencies among projects, and social connections among developers to measure the correlations between a developer and the given projects. Experimental results show that our approach can achieve over 25% of hit ratio when recommending 20 candidates, meaning that it can recommend closely correlated repositories to social developers.

In the field of nuclear energy, the Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) is recognized as one of the most severe types of nuclear reactor accidents, characterized by its complex physical processes and potentially catastrophic consequences. These challenges impose stringent requirements on safety analysis and emergency response. Accurate prediction and analysis of fluid behavior within pipelines under LOCA conditions are critical for evaluating accident outcomes and formulating response strategies. This paper introduces an innovative intelligent computing approach—a Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) model driven by both physical data and simulation data, specifically tailored for LOCA conditions. To address the challenges posed by multivariable and complex physical relationships, the six-equation two-fluid model is first simplified to represent the physical processes. Subsequently, a dual-driven PINNs network is developed, integrating both simulation data and physical constraints. The proposed model demonstrates a root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.02, a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.044, and an R2 of 0.81 in predicting the outcomes under the six-equation model.

Federated Learning coordinates multiple devices to train a shared model while preserving data privacy. Despite its potential benefit, the increasing number of participating devices poses new challenges to the deployment in real-world cases. The highly limited amount of data located on each device coupled with significantly unbalanced data across different devices severely impede the performance of the shared model and the overall training progress at the same *** this paper, we propose FedHybrid, a hierarchical hybrid training framework for high-performance Federated Learning on a wide scale. Unlike the existing work that mainly focuses on the statistical challenge, FedHybrid establishes a hierarchical hybrid training framework that effectively utilizes the fragmented and unbalanced data located on the participating devices on a wide scale. Specifically, FedHybrid consists of the following two core components, a global coordinator deployed on the central server and a local coordinator deployed on each participating device. The global coordinator organizes the participating devices into different groups through jointly considering the system heterogeneity and unbalanced training data in order to accelerate the overall training progress while guaranteeing the model performance. Within each group, a novel device-to-device (D2D) sequential training procedure is coordinated by the local coordinator to effectively utilize the fragmented and unbalanced training data in order to intelligently update the local models. At the same time, we provide the theoretical analysis of FedHybrid and conduct extensive experiments to evaluate its effectiveness. The results show that FedHybrid effectively improves model accuracy up to 27% and accelerates the whole training process by 20% on average.

In this paper, we propose an approach to assess the ability of developers based on their behavior data from OSS. Specifically, we classify developers' ability into code ability, project management ability, and social ability. Code efficiency is related to the developer's commit record and the pull-request record. The developer's project management ability is achieved by tracking the developer's commit record. We use regular matching to map the commit behavior to the project management behavior and calculate the developer's project management ability according to the proportion of different behaviors. The social ability of developers is related to the data that developers interact with in the open-source community. We dug for developer reviews on commit, issue, and gist fragments. By calculating the proportion of positive emotions in developer reviews and the proportion of developers interacting with others in the reviews, the social ability of developers is obtained. We get behavioral data from 50 random developers. Twitter's data is used to test the effect of different machine learning algorithms on the accuracy of developer comment polarity judgments. It is found that the combination of SVM, xgboost and random forest have the highest prediction accuracy. Finally, we select 5 students to use Likert scale to score the results. Our score shows that the results are basically in line with expectations. © 2020 ACM.

Instant delivery has become a fundamental service in people's daily lives. Different from the traditional express service, the instant delivery has a strict shipping time constraint after being ordered. However, the labor shortage makes it challenging to realize efficient instant delivery. To tackle the problem, researchers have studied to introduce vehicles (i.e., taxis) or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs or drones) into instant delivery tasks. Unfortunately, the delivery detour of taxis and the limited battery of UAVs make it hard to meet the rapidly increasing instant delivery demands. Under this circumstance, this paper proposes an air-ground cooperative instant delivery paradigm to maximize the delivery performance and meanwhile minimize the negative effects on the taxi passengers. Specifically, a data-driven delivery potential-demands-aware cooperative strategy is designed to improve the overall delivery performance of both UAVs and taxis as well as the taxi passengers' experience. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the delivery number by 30.1% and 114.5% compared to the taxi-based and UAV-based instant delivery respectively, and shortens the delivery time by 35.7% compared to the taxi-based instant delivery.

Graphcs: Graph-Based Client Selection for Heterogeneity in Federated Learning

Federated Learning coordinates many mobile devices to train an artificial intelligence model while preserving data privacy collaboratively. Mobile devices are usually equipped with totally different hardware configurations, leading to various training capabilities. At the same time, the distribution of the local training data is highly heterogeneous across different clients. Randomly selecting the clients to participate in the training process results in poor model performance and low system efficiency. In this paper, we propose GraphCS, a graph-based client selection framework for heterogeneity in Federated Learning. GraphCS first measures the distribution coupling across the clients via the model gradients. After that, it divides the clients into different groups according to the diversity of the local datasets. At the same time, it well estimates the runtime training capability of each client by jointly considering the hardware configuration and resource contention caused by the concurrently running *** the distribution coupling information and runtime training capability, GraphCS selects the \emph{right} clients in order to well balance the model accuracy and overall training progress. We evaluate the performance of GraphCS with mobile devices with different hardware configurations on various datasets. The experiment results show that our approach improves model accuracy up to 45.69%. Meanwhile, it reduces communication and computation overhead 87.35% and 89.48% at best, respectively. Feasibility Analysis of the Sanchez-Pomraning Method to Treat the Particle Size Distribution in Particle-Dispersed Fuel

The non-uniform size of particles appears in the particle-dispersed fuel generally, but this phenomenon is usually neglected. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of the Sanchez-Pomraning method to solve the particle size distribution problem in particle-dispersed fuel. The Pu-rich agglomerate phenomenon in the MOX fuel and manufacturing tolerance in the Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated (FCM) fuel are calculated by ALPHA-DH code, which implements the Sanchez-Pomraning method based on the MOC transport calculation and improved subgroup resonance calculation. Numerical results show that the Sanchez-Pomraning method has the capability to treat the particle size distribution effect accurately, where the differences bwtween the Sanchez-Pomraning method and the Monte Carlo method are generally lower than 160 pcm. For the Pu-rich agglomerate phenomenon, the results show that ignoring the Pu-rich agglomerate effect introduces the reactivity difference of around 600 pcm, and ignoring the size distribution of the Pu agglomerate will cause the reactivity of up to 200 pcm in the extra-high or extra-low Pu enrichment. The more discrete size distribution and the smaller Pu-spots, the more significant influence will occur in the MOX fuel. For the FCM fuel, the influence brought by the TRISO particle size distribution can be ignored when only TRISO particles are filled. However, ignoring the size distribution when TRISO particles and poison particles are both added into the FCM fuel introduces the differences reaching 600-1000 pcm. These results demonstrate the importance of considering the particle size distribution for analyzing the MOX fuel and FCM fuel in practice. And the Sanchez-Pomraning method is reliable to analyze the effect of particle size distribution. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Deep Isolation Forest for Anomaly Detection

Isolation forest (iForest) has been emerging as arguably the most popular anomaly detector in recent years due to its general effectiveness across different benchmarks and strong scalability. Nevertheless, its linear axis-parallel isolation method often leads to (i) failure in detecting hard anomalies that are difficult to isolate in high-dimensional/non-linear-separable data space, and (ii) notorious algorithmic bias that assigns unexpectedly lower anomaly scores to artefact regions. These issues contribute to high false negative errors. Several iForest extensions are introduced, but they essentially still employ shallow, linear data partition, restricting their power in isolating true anomalies. Therefore, this paper proposes deep isolation forest. We introduce a new representation scheme that utilises casually initialised neural networks to map original data into random representation ensembles, where random axis-parallel cuts are subsequently applied to perform the data partition. This representation scheme facilitates high freedom of the partition in the original data space (equivalent to non-linear partition on subspaces of varying sizes), encouraging a unique synergy between random representations and random partition-based isolation. Extensive experiments show that our model achieves significant improvement over state-of-the-art isolation-based methods and deep detectors on tabular, graph and time series datasets;our model also inherits desired scalability from iForest. © 2022, CC BY.
