He obtained his B.A. Sc. and M.A.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering (summa cum laude) from the University of Ottawa Ottawa Ontario Canada in 1987 and 1989 respectively. Mr So was a research engineer in the University of Ottawa from January 1989 to October 1991 his research interests included CAD techniques of microwave circuits and numerical methods for electromagnetic wave modelling. He specialized in the development of electromagnetic engineering CAD software and successfully implemented a number of electromagnetic wave simulators based on the two-dimensional and three-dimensional transmission-line matrix methods. From August 1990 to February 1991 he accompanied Professor W. J. R. Hoefer to Rome Italy and Sophia Antiopolas France. During that time he implemented a parallel version of the 3D-TLM simulator for the CM-2 Connection Machine using C-Star and X Windows Library. He is a research engineer and a Ph.D. student at the University of Victoria Victoria British Columbia Canada. He ported the 2D- and 3D-TLM simulators to DECmpp 1200 massively parallel computer using MPL C and C++. He also combined OSA90/hope a commercially available microwave CAD program with a 2D-TLM simulation module for geometry optimization using the Datapipe technique of OSA90/hope. After a 50-mission tour as a P-51 Mustang pilot he received a B.S. in general engineering from MIT and was elected to Sigma Xi. He subsequently studied gas turbines and aeronautical engineering at the Federal Polytechnic Institute in Zurich Switzerland and as a National Science Foundation fellow he received his Doktor Ingenieur at the Technical University of Aachen Germany. He conducted basic research in combustion at the National Bureau of Standards and was head of advanced core design at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (General Electric) during the 1950s when the currently used reactor cores were designed. He then joined Combustion Engineering as chief project physicist in the design of central-station reactors. Subsequently he became manager of research at Martin Marietta involved largely in direct energy conversion for outer space. In 1970 he joined the Annapolis Laboratory to establish the Superconductive Electric Propulsion Program and in 1974 assumed his present position. He has received the Distinguished Flying Cross the Meritorious Civilian Service Award 10 patents and is the author of many technical papers.

During the past seven years Dr. Bailey has been actively involved with the design development production and evaluation of interactive videodisc projects. 作者: BALES, SML Susan Bales is the science advisor to the chief of naval operations and the assistant director for science and technology of the CNO Executive Panel. She is on assignment from the Office of Naval Research where she holds the position of assistant director for program support and special programs. Previously she was head of the Ocean Environment Group at David Taylor Research Center. Among her fields of technical expertise are radio-electronic battle management/space and electronic combat naval oceanography coastal dynamics ship engineering hydrodynamics technology wargaming climatology and the Arctic. Since joining the CNO's staff in 1987 Ms. Bales has participated in a number of strategic long-range planning efforts including the 1990 Defense Science Board Summer Study. She has been active in international exchange agreements coordinating the 1987 Labrador Extreme Waves Experiment (LEWEX) and chairing a NATO Research Study Group. She has lectured at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Webb Institute of Naval Architecture the NATO ASW SACLANT Centre the Admiralty Marine Technology Establishment and the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute. Active in a number of professional societies Ms. Bales has served as vice president of the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) and chaired the Naval Engineers Journal Committee. Her research has been published in more than 50 papers articles and reports both here and abroad. She has received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal was named the 1988 National Capital Senior Engineer of the Year by the D.C. Council of Engineering and Architectural Societies and was elected to membership in the COSMOS Club in 1989. She was married to the late Nathan K. Bales and resides in Myersville Md.

In 1970 he joined DTRC to establish the Superconductive Electric Propulsion Program and in 1974 assumed his present position. He has received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Meritorious Civilian Service Award. Dr. Levedahl joined ASNE in 1978.

After transferring to the JJMA's Arlington Va. office he focused on U.S. naval ship structural designs. He is currently a senior naval architect and a member of ASNE SNAME and ASME. Harry P. Kane is a senior project engineer in the Ship Modularity Section John J. McMullen Associates Inc. Arlington Va. He has a B.S. degree from Woodbury University and has attended numerous other training programs at the Universities of Nevada California Texas and Virginia. He has been employed as a program management engineer on a wide spectrum of design programs ranging from space booster systems remote sensors underwater acoustic systems ship systems Navy RDT&E management and technical program analysis. Currently he serves as a project leader for the application of modular weapons to different ship design programs.
