Entity alignment (EA) aims to match identical entities across different knowledge graphs (KGs). Graph neural network-based entity alignment methods have achieved promising results in Euclidean space. However, KGs often contain complex local and hierarchical structures, which are hard to represent in a single space. In this paper, we propose a novel method named as UniEA, which unifies dual-space embedding to preserve the intrinsic structure of KGs. Specifically, we simultaneously learn graph structure embeddings in both Euclidean and hyperbolic spaces to maximize the consistency between embeddings in the two spaces. Moreover, we employ contrastive learning to mitigate the misalignment issues caused by similar entities, where embeddings of similar neighboring entities become too close. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance in structure-based EA methods. Sentence ordering is the task of rearranging a set of unordered sentences into a coherent and logically consistent sequence. Recent work has primarily used pre-trained language models, achieving significant success in the task. However, existing sentence ordering corpora are predominantly in English, and comprehensive benchmark datasets for non-English languages are unavailable. Meanwhile, current datasets often insert specific markers into paragraphs, inadvertently making the logical sequence between sentences more apparent and reducing the models' ability to handle genuinely unordered sentences in real applications. To address these limitations, we develop C3LRSO, a high-quality Chinese sentence ordering dataset that overcomes the aforementioned shortcomings by providing genuinely unordered sentences without artificial segmentation cues. Furthermore, given the outstanding performance of large language models on NLP tasks, we evaluate these models on our dataset for this task. Additionally, we propose a simple yet effective parameter-free approach that outperforms existing methods on this task. Experiments demonstrate the challenging nature of the dataset and the strong performance of our proposed method. These findings highlight the potential for further research in sentence ordering and the development of more robust language models. Knowledge graphs are used to alleviate the problems of data sparsity and cold starts in recommendation systems. However, most existing approaches ignore the hierarchical structure of the knowledge graph. In this paper, we propose a box embedding method for knowledge graph-enhanced recommendation system. Specifically, the box embedding represents not only the interaction between the user and the item, but also the head entity, the tail entity and the relation between them in the knowledge graph. Then the interaction between the item and the corresponding entity is calculated by the multi-task attention unit. Experimental results show that our method provides a large improvement over previous models in terms of Area Under Curve (AUC) and accuracy in publicly available recommendation datasets with three different domains. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Quaternion contains one real part and three imaginary parts, which provided a more expressive hypercomplex space for learning knowledge graph. Existing quaternion embedding models measure the plausibility of a triplet through either semantic matching or geometric distance scoring functions. However, it appears that semantic matching diminishes the separability of entities, while the distance scoring function weakens the semantics of entities. To address this issue, we propose a novel quaternion knowledge graph embedding model. Our model combines semantic matching with the geometric distance of entities to better measure the plausibility of triplets. Specifically, in the quaternion space, we perform a right rotation on head entity and a reverse rotation on tail entity to learn rich semantic features. We then utilize distance-adaptive translations to learn geometric distance between entities. Furthermore, we provide mathematical proofs to demonstrate our model can handle complex logical relationships. Extensive experimental results and analyses show our model significantly outperforms previous models on well-known knowledge graph completion benchmark datasets. Micro-ring modulators with a small footprint and energy consumption have been explored for densely integrated high throughput optical interconnects. However, their strong dispersive response results in frequency chirp and pulse broadening, which limits their signal transmission distance. Here we explore the low chirp operation of a dual-racetrack modulator symmetrically coupled to a bus waveguide. With opposite index changes in the two resonators, the coherent couplings of two resonators' optical fields with the bus waveguide and their interference can cancel out the output phase variation due to a single resonator. This allows the push-pull operation to achieve a lower chirp compared to the single-drive operation. The advantage of lower chirp operation is experimentally verified through open eye diagram with 100 Gbps PAM-4 transmitted over 2 km single-mode fiber (SMF), with a peak-to-peak driving voltage of 1.6 V. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), a large-scale astronomical survey project, has released a vast volume of photometric images. These images play a pivotal role in deriving fundamental parameters of celestial objects and investigating the structure of the universe. Nevertheless, in dense star fields, the characteristics of celestial sources are intricate, rendering traditional methods incapable of conducting precise analyses. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a new algorithm named DSDNet for detecting celestial sources in dense star fields and counting them. During the feature extraction phase, DSDNet generates larger feature maps, thereby preserving more information about small targets. By incorporating a convolutional attention module, the model's capacity to learn the features of celestial sources in dense star fields is augmented. Furthermore, to more effectively manage the blending phenomenon among sources, DSDNet integrates CNN and Transformer architectures, enhancing the model's ability to comprehend global features. Experimental findings show that DSDNet exhibits excellent performance, attaining an F1-score of 97.23%. This makes it a valuable resource for aiding SDSS in processing dense star field images. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

Transformer models have become a cornerstone of various natural language processing (NLP) tasks. However, the substantial computational overhead during the inference remains a significant challenge, limiting their deployment in practical applications. In this study, we address this challenge by minimizing the inference overhead in transformer models using the controlling element on artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators. Our work is anchored by four key contributions. First, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the overhead composition within the transformer inference process, identifying the primary bottlenecks. Second, we leverage the management processing element (MPE) of the Shenwei AI (SWAI) accelerator, implementing a three-tier scheduling framework that significantly reduces the number of host-device launches to approximately 1/10 000 of the original PyTorch-GPU setup. Third, we introduce a zero-copy memory management technique using segment-page fusion, which significantly reduces memory access latency and improves overall inference efficiency. Finally, we develop a fast model loading method that eliminates redundant computations during model verification and initialization, reducing the total loading time for large models from 22 128.31 ms to 1041.72 ms. Our contributions significantly enhance the optimization of transformer models, enabling more efficient and expedited inference processes on AI accelerators. © Zhejiang University Press 2025.

Surface electromyography (sEMG) recordings can be contaminated by electrocardiogram (ECG) signals when the monitored muscle is closed to the heart. Traditional signal processing-based approaches, such as high-pass filtering and template subtraction, have been used to remove ECG interference but are often limited in their effectiveness. Recently, neural network-based methods have shown greater promise for sEMG denoising, but they still struggle to balance both efficiency and effectiveness. In this study, we introduce MSEMG, a novel system that integrates the Mamba state space model with a convolutional neural network to serve as a lightweight sEMG denoising model. We evaluated MSEMG using sEMG data from the Non-Invasive Adaptive Prosthetics database and ECG signals from the MIT-BIH Normal Sinus Rhythm Database. The results show that MSEMG outperforms existing methods, generating higher-quality sEMG signals using fewer parameters. © 2025 IEEE.

Pressure injuries, a chronic disease with high incidence and costly treatment, are categorized by the national Pressure Injury Advisory Panel from stage 1 to 4 based on skin invasion severity. Variations in injury range and depth can lead to incorrect staging. A computer-aided diagnosis system using a convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture has proven reliable in object detection and classification. This study proposes a cascade R-CNN with a squeeze-and-excitation shifted windows transformer (SE-Swin transformer) model for detecting and classifying pressure injury stages. The system includes data augmentation, feature extraction, and stage classification. Using 883 images, the system achieves a mean average precision (mAP) of 81.3% in detection and accuracy of 87.1%, sensitivity of 85.7%, and positive predictive value (PPV) of 86.6% in stage classification. © 2025 IEEE.

In the field of natural language processing, Knowledge Base Question Answering (KBQA) is a challenging task that involves accurately retrieving answers from structured knowledge. Existing methods often face issues when generating query statements using LLMs, as the knowledge introduced may be imprecise and the models themselves may exhibit hallucination problems, leading to low accuracy, particularly when dealing with complex questions. To address these challenges, we introduce a novel semantic parsing approach called RGR-KBQA, which adopts a Retrieve-Generate-Retrieve framework. The first retrieval step introduces factual knowledge from a knowledge graph to enhance the semantic understanding capabilities of LLMs, thereby improving generation accuracy of logical form. The second step uses a fine-tuned model to generate the logical form, and the final step involves unsupervised relation and entity retrieval to further enhance generation accuracy. These two retrieval steps help alleviate the hallucination problems inherent in LLMs. Experimental results show that RGR-KBQA demonstrate promising performance on CWQ and WebQSP datasets. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.
