In the realm of recommendation systems, achieving real-time performance in embedding similarity tasks is often hindered by the limitations of traditional Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SpMV) methods, which suffer from high latency due to inefficient memory access patterns. This paper identifies these critical gaps and introduces AccelES, a novel approach that significantly enhances the efficiency of Top-K SpMV. Our method employs a two-stage calculation scheme: the first stage utilizes a compact, low-bit dataset to quickly identify the most relevant entries, while the second stage performs full-precision calculations solely on this pruned subset, thereby minimizing computational overhead. Furthermore, AccelES incorporates innovative matrix representations, Ultra-CSR and Random-CSR, which optimize memory bandwidth utilization. Experimental results demonstrate that AccelES accelerates performance, surpassing state-of-the-art FPGA, GPU, and CPU solutions by factors of 3.4×, 2.5×, and 153.3×, respectively, under controlled conditions. These advancements not only enhance processing speed but also significantly improve real-time performance in recommendation systems, establishing AccelES as a pivotal contribution to the field of Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication.

Uninterrupted wireless communication on the move is important for remote drone/robot operation, self-driving cars, and maritime autonomous surface ships. This paper describes a functional extension design of our previously developed fieldprogrammable gate array (FPGA)-based multipath transmission control system. The new network environment advertisable method uses the Wi-Fi round-trip time (RTT) and low-power wide-area (LPWA) networks to address the issue of not knowing whether handover is possible until the device is in motion, because Wi-Fi AP scanning is limited to the wireless communication range. We show how to apply the method to the hardware that we previously developed and its practical applicability through performance evaluation of Wi-Fi RTT and LPWA communication.

Revealing Security Flaws in Cross-Modal Retrieval Models through Video Poisoning

Video-text cross-modal retrieval is widely studied to improve retrieval accuracy. However, the security of video-text cross-modal retrieval models receives little attention. If attackers exploit the security vulnerabilities in these models, it poses a significant threat to the retrieval models. Thus, identifying security flaws in video-text cross-modal retrieval models becomes the focus of our research. We are the first to design a video poisoning model to uncover security vulnerabilities in retrieval models. Existing poisoning models have certain limitations when it comes to exploiting vulnerabilities in retrieval models. These include failing to comprehensively embed malicious information into the original video and being unable to maintain visual consistency between the original and poisoned videos. These limitations can result in unsuccessful attacks on retrieval models and an inability to effectively identify security flaws within them. To address these shortcomings, we design an efficient poisoning model that embeds malicious information thoroughly into the original clean data to attack video-text cross-modal retrieval models. We are the first to use a poisoning model to attack retrieval models, thereby uncovering their security vulnerabilities. Second, we introduce a bi-level poisoning module to ensure that malicious information is thoroughly embedded into the original video, thereby enhancing the attack capability of the poisoning model. Finally, we design an adversarial module to improve visual consistency between the original and poisoned videos, thus enhancing the concealment of malicious information within the training data of retrieval models. Our poisoning model can identify security flaws in video-text cross-modal retrieval models, providing insights into improving the security of retrieval models. In real-world physiological and psychological scenarios, there often exists a robust complementary correlation between audio and visual signals. Audio-Visual Event Localization (AVEL) aims to identify segments with Audio-Visual Events (AVEs) that contain both audio and visual tracks in unconstrained videos. Prior studies have predominantly focused on audio-visual cross-modal fusion methods, overlooking the fine-grained exploration of the cross-modal information fusion mechanism. Moreover, due to the inherent heterogeneity of multi-modal data, inevitable new noise is introduced during the audio-visual fusion process. To address these challenges, we propose a novel Cross-modal Contrastive Learning Network (CCLN) for AVEL, comprising a backbone network and a branch network. In the backbone network, drawing inspiration from physiological theories of sensory integration, we elucidate the process of audio-visual information fusion, interaction, and integration from an information-flow perspective. Notably, the Self-constrained Bi-modal Interaction (SBI) module is a bi-modal attention structure integrated with audio-visual fusion information, and through gated processing of the audio-visual correlation matrix, it effectively captures inter-modal correlation. The Foreground Event Enhancement (FEE) module emphasizes the significance of event-level boundaries by elongating the distance between scene events during training through adaptive weights. Furthermore, we introduce weak video-level labels to constrain the cross-modal semantic alignment of audio-visual events and design a weakly supervised cross-modal contrastive learning loss (WCCL Loss) function, which enhances the quality of fusion representation in the dual-branch contrastive learning framework. Leukemia, a bone marrow-related disease, arises from the abnormal proliferation of cells. It is the predominant form of childhood cancer, representing about one-third of cases annually. This study focuses on incorporating AI models to enhance the early detection of Leukemia. A public dataset is employed for testing purposes which comprises of 15,114 images in total. Advancing the field, this research employs vision transformer techniques, previously unexplored in leukemia detection, showing promising efficiency for such applications. Emphasizing the critical role of precision in medical imaging, particularly in the context of Leukemia detection, this study contributes to the ongoing efforts to improve the diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.

With the continuous development of software open-sourcing, the reuse of open-source software has led to a significant increase in the occurrence of recurring vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities often arise through the practice of copying and pasting existing vulnerabilities. Many methods have been proposed for detecting recurring vulnerabilities, but they often struggle to ensure both high efficiency and consideration of semantic information about vulnerabilities and patches. In this paper, we introduce FIRE, a scalable method for large-scale recurring vulnerability detection. It utilizes multi-stage filtering and differential taint paths to achieve precise clone vulnerability scanning at an extensive scale. In our evaluation across ten open-source software projects, FIRE demonstrates a precision of 90.0% in detecting 298 recurring vulnerabilities out of 385 ground truth instance. This surpasses the performance of existing advanced recurring vulnerability detection tools, detecting 31.4% more vulnerabilities than VUDDY and 47.0% more than MOVERY. When detecting vulnerabilities in large-scale software, FIRE outperforms MOVERY by saving about twice the time, enabling the scanning of recurring vulnerabilities on an ultra-large scale.

Multimodal dialogue emotion recognition integrates data from multiple modalities to accurately identify emotional states in conversations. However, differences in expression and information density across modalities complicate the fusion of features. Traditional methods may introduce redundant information from other utterances, reducing the accuracy of emotion recognition. Existing one-hot labels often fail to capture the full range of emotional expressions, leading to biased results. To address these issues, we propose a model that fuses different modalities within the same utterance to avoid redundancy. It employs a progressive classification process, refining emotion recognition from coarse to fine granularity. Additionally, we use emotion polarity probabilities as weights for fine-grained classification and introduce a multimodal information-rich label that considers both the data and their interactions. Experiments on IEMOCAP and MELD datasets demonstrate the model’s effectiveness, significantly improving dialog emotion recognition accuracy. Our code is available at https://***/r/LOCG-188E.

Energy Harvesting Jammer-Aided Covert Communications in Wireless Multi-Relay IoT Systems

This paper investigates covert communications in a multi-relay Internet of Things (IoT) system with multiple energy harvesting jammers, where a transmitter (Alice) attempts to covertly transmit confidential messages to its destination (Bob) through relay forwarding, while a warden (Willie) detects the existence of Alice's transmission. Specifically, we employ a harvesting-then-jamming protocol with which the jammers first harvest energy from Alice and then send jamming signals to interfere with Willie's detection. We propose a relay and jammer selection strategy, namely quality of service (QoS)-aware selection, and use the random selection strategy as a comparison strategy. Under these two selection strategies, we derive the optimal detection threshold and minimum detection error probability at Willie, respectively. We then model the covert throughput performance and obtain the maximum covert throughput by jointly optimizing covert transmit power and jamming transmit power. Extensive numerical results are provided to illustrate the impacts of system parameters on covert throughput performance. © 2014 IEEE.

Decision support systems have been widely applied in various sectors in which a vast of models and algorithms have been researched and developed based on knowledge graphs. Recently, Fuzzy Knowledge Graph (FKG) has overcome the challenge of handling uncertain, incomplete input data in decision support systems;yet still its performance could be improved through the integration of multiple data sources. This paper proposes a novel conceptual framework of FKG called FKGF based on multiple data sources. Rethinking Polyp Segmentation from the Perspectives of Matching Views and Seeking Camouflage

Accurate segmentation of polyps from colonoscopy images is of great significance for the prevention of colorectal cancer. Despite notable progress, polyp segmentation remains a challenging task due to the diversity of polyp size and shape, as well as the camouflage property of polyps caused by their high similarity to surrounding tissues. To address these challenges, inspired by human perceptual experience in finding objects, we propose a multi-perspective collaborative network (MPCNet), innovatively identifying the potential polyps from the perspectives of matching views and seeking camouflage. Firstly, from the former perspective, a global–local aware module is proposed to provide various feature receptive fields to match suitable views for polyps of different sizes and shapes. Then, from the latter perspective, a texture enhancement module (TEM) and an interaction refinement module (IRM) are proposed to mine and complement clues essential for breaking the camouflage. Specifically, TEM mines texture-related clues and amplifies the subtle texture differences between polyps and their background, while IRM complements boundary clues and further optimizes feature representation through the interaction between boundaries and regions, thereby generating accurate segmentation results with complete regions and fine boundaries. Extensive experiments on five benchmark polyp datasets show that our MPCNet outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. In particular, we achieve a mean Dice of 81.7% and 82.4% on the most challenging datasets CVC-ColonDB and ETIS, respectively, which are significantly higher than competing methods.
