Recycling qubits for the generation of Bell nonlocality between independent sequential observers

There is currently much interest in the recycling of entangled systems, for use in quantum information protocols by sequential observers. In this work, we study the sequential generation of Bell nonlocality via recycling one or both components of two-qubit states. We first give a description of two-valued qubit measurements in terms of measurement bias, strength, and reversibility, and derive useful tradeoff relations between them. Then, we derive one-sided monogamy relations for unbiased observables that strengthen the recent conjecture by Cheng et al. [Phys. Rev. A 104, L060201 (2021)] that if the first pair of observers violate Bell nonlocality then a subsequent independent pair cannot, and give semianalytic results for the best possible monogamy relation. We also extend the construction by Brown and Colbeck [Phys. Rev. Lett. 125, 090401 (2020)] to obtain (i) a broader class of two-qubit states that allow the recycling of one qubit by a given number of observers on one side and (ii) a scheme for generating Bell nonlocality between arbitrarily many independent observers on each side, via the two-sided recycling of multiqubit states. Our results are based on a formalism that is applicable to more general problems in recycling entanglement and hence is expected to aid progress in this field.

We present the results of the Dravidian-CodeMix shared task1 held at FIRE 2021, a track on sentiment analysis for Dravidian Languages in Code-Mixed Text. We describe the task, its organization, and the submitted systems. This shared task is the continuation of last year’s Dravidian-CodeMix shared task2 held at FIRE 2020. This year’s tasks included code-mixing at the intra-token and inter-token levels. Additionally, apart from Tamil and Malayalam, Kannada was also introduced. We received 22 systems for Tamil-English, 15 systems for Malayalam-English, and 15 for Kannada-English. The top system for Tamil-English, Malayalam-English and Kannada-English scored weighted average F1-score of 0.711, 0.804, and 0.630, respectively. In summary, the quality and quantity of the submission show that there is great interest in Dravidian languages in code-mixed setting and state of the art in this domain still needs more improvement. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

As the parallel scale of HPC applications represented by earth system models becomes larger and the computing cost becomes higher, the performance of HPC applications is increasingly critical. Profiling HPC applications accurately helps to model the applications and find the performance bottlenecks. However, due to the complexity of HPC applications, the diversity of programming languages, the differences of individual programming habits, and multiple architectures, accurate profiling becomes very tough. In this paper, we propose LPerf: a low-overhead and high-accuracy profiler for HPC applications. To reduce the profiling overhead and improve the profiling accuracy, we propose a preprocessing method which can automatically instrument with tunable granularity thus significantly reducing the run-time overhead of profiling, an aggregated caller-callee relationship which is used to locate relationship of functions efficiently, and a profiling-aware method which can precisely calculate running time of functions. The experimental results show that the error rate of profiling reaches 0.02%, and the overhead reaches 1.6%, in the earth system model named CAS-ESM. Compared with the baselines, the precision, accuracy, and overhead of LPerf have reached the state of the art.

Proposed a method combined with semantic segmentation for document image rectification to address the limited applicability of traditional correction methods and difficulties in data annotation. Firstly, diverse experimental data are synthesized to create a target document image and its corresponding mask data. Secondly, a semantic segmentation model based on DeepLabV3 is constructed using pre-trained MobileNetV3, ResNet50, and ResNet101 as the backbone networks, respectively, to separate the document page area(ROI) from the image. Then, the document page area is corrected using corner point detection and perspective transformation to complete the document image rectification. The evaluation of the model shows that the DeepLabV3 model with MobileNetV3 as the backbone network has high processing efficiency, with an IOU of 0.983 and a Total Loss of 0.064 on the validation set. Test results demonstrate that the proposed method has better generalization capabilities and can be easily extended to practical engineering.

A quantum register coupled to a spin-photon interface is a key component in quantum communication and information processing. Group-IV color centers in diamond (SiV−, GeV−, and SnV−) are promising candidates for this application, comprising an electronic spin with optical transitions coupled to a nuclear spin as the quantum register. However, the creation of a quantum register for these color centers with deterministic and strong coupling to the spin-photon interface remains challenging. Here, we make first-principles predictions of the hyperfine parameters of the group-IV color centers, which we verify experimentally with a comprehensive comparison between the spectra of spin active and spin neutral intrinsic dopant nuclei in single GeV− and SnV− emitters. In line with the theoretical predictions, detailed spectroscopy on large sample sizes reveals that hyperfine coupling causes a splitting of the optical transition of SnV− an order of magnitude larger than the optical line width and provides a magnetic field insensitive transition. This strong coupling provides access to a new regime for quantum registers in diamond color centers, opening avenues for novel spin-photon entanglement and quantum sensing schemes for these well-studied emitters.

Blockchain enabled financial system enhance the efficiency, security and transparency. The study examines the sustainable social innovation in the Indian IT industry. It leverages the decentralized nature of blockchain so that the organizations streamline the financial operations, enhance accountability and reduce fraud to foster economic growth. The study examines the applications of blockchain including secure digital payments, decentralized finance and smart contracts and the impact on initiatives for corporate sustainability. The challenges are highlighted in the study including adoption hurdles, scalability and regulatory barriers. The findings suggest development of business model with social responsibility to promote long-term sustainability in Indian IT sector.

In this paper, we develop the resource theory of quantum secret key. Operating under the assumption that entangled states with zero distillable key do not exist, we define the key cost of a quantum state, and device. We study its properties through the lens of a quantity that we call the key of formation. The main result of our paper is that the regularized key of formation is an upper bound on the key cost of a quantum state. The core protocol underlying this result is privacy dilution, which converts states containing ideal privacy into ones with diluted privacy. Next, we show that the key cost is bounded from below by the regularized relative entropy of entanglement, which implies the irreversibility of the privacy creation-distillation process for a specific class of states. We further focus on mixed-state analogues of pure quantum states in the domain of privacy, and we prove that a number of entanglement measures are equal to each other for these states, similar to the case of pure entangled states. The privacy cost and distillable key in the single-shot regime exhibit a yield-cost relation, and basic consequences for quantum devices are also provided. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Within the vast expanse of computerized language processing, a revolutionary entity known as Large Language Models (LLMs) has emerged, wielding immense power in its capacity to comprehend intricate linguistic patterns and conjure coherent and contextually fitting responses. LLMs are a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that have emerged as powerful tools for a wide range of tasks, including natural language processing (NLP), machine translation, vision applications, and question-answering. This survey provides a comprehensive overview of LLMs, including their history, architecture, datasets, training methods, applications, challenges, and future prospects. We begin by discussing the fundamental concepts of generative AI and the architecture of generative pre-trained transformers (GPT). We then provide an overview of the history of LLMs, their evolution over time, and the different training methods. We also present benchmark dataset for training and fine-tuning and evaluating LLMs. We then discuss the wide range of tasks where they are used and also discuss applications of LLMs in different domains, including medicine, education, finance, engineering, agriculture, media, entertainment, politics, and law. We also discuss how LLMs are shaping the future of AI and their increasing role in scientific discovery, and how they can be used to solve real-world problems. Next, we explore the challenges associated with deploying LLMs in real-world scenarios, including ethical considerations, model biases, interpretability, privacy concerns, and computational resource requirements. This survey also highlights techniques for enhancing the robustness and controllability of LLMs and addressing bias, fairness, and quality issues in Generative AI. Finally, we conclude by highlighting the future of LLM research and the challenges that need to be addressed in order to make this technology more reliable and useful.
