technology-mediated learning has become a valuable tool, especially in the english language classroom. Nowadays, mobile learning is considered a significant educational tool for promoting education among learners. Several recent studies have attempted to examine different aspects of mobile learning. The size of the experimental group, and the duration and suitability of the assessment methods are important aspects in designing experimental studies in the context of mobile english language learning. Yet, very few studies have paid attention to these aspects. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the utilisation of state-of-the-art mobile technology in english language learning, especially in terms of the size of the experimental groups, and the duration and suitability of the assessment methods. Following a systematic review protocol, 151 articles published between 2010 and 2017 were selected for analysis. Furthermore, this study considered, separately, three factors addressed in the reviewed studies: language acquisition problems, types of participants, and targeted english skills. The findings showed that thegroup sizeandstudy durationsignificantly differed among the studies based on the above factors. Questionnaires and tests were found to be the most common methods ofassessmentfor each factor, whether used separately or in combination. The results of this review can assist in the formulation of experimental designs to mitigate the challenges and facilitate the effective use of mobile learning in english language learning.

Animation-assisted learning enhances caregivers’ knowledge of anticipatory guidance for children during a well-child clinical visit: A prospective study

Purpose: To evaluate whether animation-assisted learning (AAL) enhances caregiver's knowledge of anticipatory guidance (AG) for children and determine the influence of the socioeconomic status during a well-child clinical visit. Methods: We prospectively enrolled caregivers who presented for well-child checkups at a tertiary care center. Participants completed a pre-test, watched a 25-min animation on specific AG topics, and then completed a post-test. We collected information on the caregivers’ gender, parity number, educational level, age, and employment status and then analyzed test accuracy relative to select socio-demographic factors. Results: We enrolled 150 caregivers (75 in the ≤3-month group, and 75 in the >3-month-to-7-year group). The pre- and post-AAL accuracy rates were 68.7% ± 14.5% vs. 88.2% ± 9.9% for the ≤3-month and 75.9% ± 13.1% vs. 92.3% ± 10.0% for the >3-month-to-7-year groups. Women, non-primipara caregivers, and college graduates in the ≤3-month group had better pre-test accuracy than their counterparts (p = 0.002, 0.002, and 0.004, respectively). Irrespective of socio-demographic factors, all caregivers demonstrated significantly improved AG knowledge post-AAL. Furthermore, college graduates or unemployed caregivers in the ≤3-month group showed improvements with AAL (p = 0.001 and 0.006, respectively). Conclusions: Caregiver's knowledge level further improved post-AAL regardless of their socio-demographic backgrounds, highlighting AAL's effectiveness across diverse populations. The most substantial improvements were observed among higher-educated or unemployed caregivers with infants aged ≤3 months. © 2025 Formosan Medical Association

Researchers have developed systems estimating mobile users’ receptivity for instant messaging (IM) [4]. However, it remains unclear how users would like their estimated status to be presented to their IM contacts. We developed an Android application that estimated a user’s receptivity status and conducted a mixed-method study with 37 IM users to understand how they wanted their estimated status to be presented, including eSM and semi-structured interviews. We found that participants preferred a textual presentation to show their receptivity status over both numeric and graphical presentation. Also, participants more often modified the status from showing interruptibility to showing attentiveness and/or responsiveness than the other way. It was because participants wanted their status more informative of how fast they could read and respond to messages. Participants also more often decreased their receptivity level than increased it to show that they were busy, either real or fake.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a human and animal-associated opportunistic pathogen. The bioaerosols from livestock units have been identified to spread MRSA from indoor to outdoor ambient environments and represent a significant risk to public health. Different bioaerosol sampling methods (filtration, impingement, impaction, cyclone, condensation, electrostatic precipitation etc.) have been discussed based on their merits. In this report, we conducted a literature survey approach to understand the lineages of MRSA clones in various livestock air via molecular typing classification, as well as the function of bioaerosol transmission which could impose infection risk in other clean settings. Our analysis found that globally the spa types t011, t002, t034, t127, and t899 are widespread genotype lineages in different livestock's farm air. It is noteworthy that the MRSA clones ST398 and ST9 are most commonly found in livestock settings and carry various types of staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) elements. In addition, the aerosolization process in livestock units helps to increase the load of MRSA colony in ambient air, which could transmit to the downwind direction of the livestock farms. Ultimately, in the molecular classification of prevalent MRSA clones in livestock settings, the air dynamics are essential in assessing the potential risk of bioaerosol transmission towards outdoor ambient environments. A basic hygiene-driven One-Health approach is critical in mitigating the risks associated with MRSA transmission from livestock settings and promoting public health. Furthermore, to avoid outbreaks, continuous surveillance and effective infection control measures are necessary to prevent the spread of MRSA and other antibiotic-resistant bacteria in both animal and human populations. © 2024 elsevier Ltd

Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is highly prevalent and may be linked to cardiovascular disease in a bidirectional manner. The taiwan Society of Cardiology, taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine and taiwan Society of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine established a task force of experts to evaluate the evidence regarding the assessment and management of SDB in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), hypertension and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFreF). The GRADe process was used to assess the evidence associated with 15 formulated questions. The task force developed recommendations and determined strength (Strong, Weak) and direction (For, Against) based on the quality of evidence, balance of benefits and harms, patient values and preferences, and resource use. The resulting 11 recommendations are intended to guide clinicians in determining which the specific patient-care strategy should be utilized by clinicians based on the needs of individual patients. © 2023 Formosan Medical Association

Globally, animal production has developed rapidly as a consequence of the ongoing population growth, to support food security. This has consequently led to an extensive use of antibiotics to promote growth and prevent diseases in animals. However, most antibiotics are not fully metabolized by these animals, leading to their excretion within urine and faeces, thus making these wastes a major reservoir of antibiotics residues, antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) in the environment. Farmers normally depend on conventional treatment methods to mitigate the environmental impact of animal waste;however, these methods are not fully efficient to remove the environmental resistome. The present study reviewed the variability of residual antibiotics, ARB, as well as ARGs in the conventionally treated waste and assessed how discharging it could increase resistome in the receiving environments. Wherein, considering the efficiency and environmental safety, an addition of pre-treatments steps with these conventional treatment methods could enhance the removal of antibiotic resistance agents from livestock waste. © 2023

Battery system design and development is prioritizing environmentally friendly recycling processes to ensure a sustainable future for our planet. The reuse of active materials in Li-ion batteries is critical for this goal. Herein, we investigated the electrochemical performance of Li3VO4 (LVO) anode with pectin as a binder. Our Li-ion half-cells showed stable capacity of 230 mAh g−1 at a current density of 0.02 A g−1 after 100 cycles. In addition, we observed a novel enhanced specific capacity of 400 mAh g−1 during delithiation at a high current density of 1 A g−1, which did not occur during lithiation. This higher capacity was can be attributed to the pseudocapacitive lithium storage behavior in the LVO-pectin electrode, as identified by CV and eIS analyses. The heterostructure of LVO-pectin resulted in an interfacial surface charge that contributed to the capacity, as demonstrated by impedance spectroscopy in conjunction with the distribution of relaxation times. The utilization of pectin as an eco-friendly binder demonstrated nearly 90 % material recovery and 100 % capability for subsequent re-lithiation, indicating recyclability. Furthermore, the pseudocapacitive effect becomes increasingly dominant in regenerated LVO-pectin cells. These results exemplify a promising approach towards the development of environmentally friendly Li-ion batteries with high energy and power density. © 2023 elsevier Ltd

Understanding the structure, dynamics, and functionality of microbial communities is essential for developing sustainable and effective bioremediation strategies, particularly for sites contaminated with mixed chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs), which can make the biodegradation process more complex and challenging. In this study, 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing revealed a significant change in microbial distribution in response to CVOCs contamination. The loss of sensitive taxa such as Proteobacteria and Acidobacteriota was observed, while CVOCs-resistant taxa such as Campilobacterota were found significantly enriched in contaminated sites. Additionally, varying abundances of crucial enzymes involved in the sequential biodegradation of CVOCs were expressed depending on the contamination level. Association analysis revealed that specific genera such as Sulfurospirillum, Azospira, Trichlorobacter, Acidiphilium, and Magnetospririllum could relatively survive under higher levels of CVOC contamination, whereas pH, ORP and temperature had a negative influence in their abundance and distribution. However, Dechloromonas, Thiobacillus, Pseudarcicella, Hydrogenophaga, and Sulfuritalea showed a negative relationship with CVOC contamination, highlighting their sensitivity towards CVOC contamination. These findings provide valuable insights into the relationship among ecological responses, the groundwater bacterial community, and their functionality in response to mixed CVOC contamination, offering a fundamental basis for developing effective and sustainable bioremediation strategies for CVOC-contaminated groundwater systems. © 2023 elsevier Ltd

Heavy metals (HMs) contained terrestrial ecosystems are often significantly display the antibiotic resistome in the pristine area due to increasing pressure from anthropogenic activity, is complex and emerging research interest. This study investigated that impact of chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co) concentrations in serpentine soil on the induction of antibiotic resistance genes and antimicrobial resistance within the native bacterial community as well as demonstrated their metabolic fingerprint. The full-length 16S-rRNA amplicon sequencing observed an increased abundance of Firmicutes, Actinobacteriota, and Acidobacteriota in serpentine soil. The microbial community in serpentine soil displayed varying preferences for different carbon sources, with some, such as carbohydrates and carboxylic acids, being consistently favored. Notably, 27 potential antibiotic resistance opportunistic bacterial genera have been identified in different serpentine soils. Among these, Lapillicoccus, Rubrobacter, Lacibacter, Chloroplast, Nitrospira, Rokubacteriales, Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas were significantly enriched in high and medium HMs concentrated serpentine soil samples. Functional profiling results illustrated that vancomycin resistance pathways were prevalent across all groups. Additionally, beta-lactamase, aminoglycoside, tetracycline, and vancomycin resistance involving specific bio-maker genes (ampC, penP, OXA, aacA, strB, hyg, aph, tet(A/B), otr(C), tet(M/O/Q), van(A/B/D), and vanJ) were the most abundant and enriched in the HMs-contaminated serpentine soil. Overall, this study highlighted that heavy-metal enriched serpentine soil is potential to support the proliferation of bacterial antibiotic resistance in native microbiome, and might able to spread antibiotic resistance to surrounding environment. © 2024 elsevier Ltd
