In this study, we introduce a novel Hybrid Federated Learning (HybridFL) approach aimed at enhancing privacy and accuracy in collaborative machine learning scenarios. Our methodology integrates Differential Privacy (DP) and secret sharing techniques to address inference risks during training and protect against information leakage in the output model. Drawing inspiration from recent advances, we present a HybridFL framework that combines the strengths of Homomorphic Encryption (HE) and Multi-Party Computation (MPC) to achieve secure computation without the computational overhead of pure HE methods. Our contributions include a privacy-preserving design for Federated Learning (FL) that ensures local data privacy through secret sharing while leveraging DP mechanisms for noise addition. The system offers resilience against unreliable participants and is evaluated using various machine learning models, including Convolutional Neural networks (CNN), Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLP), and linear regression. Furthermore, we address potential external threats by deploying predictive model outputs as robust services against inference attacks. Experimental results demonstrate improved accuracy and convergence speed, establishing the viability of HybridFL as an effective solution for collaborative machine learning with enhanced privacy guarantees. © ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2025.

In this paper,we study the system performance of mobile edge computing(MEC)wireless sensor networks(WSNs)using a multiantenna access point(AP)and two sensor clusters based on uplink nonorthogonal multiple access(NOMA).Due to limited computation and energy resources,the cluster heads(CHs)offload their tasks to a multiantenna AP over Nakagami-m *** proposed a combination protocol for NOMA-MEC-WSNs in which the AP selects either selection combining(SC)or maximal ratio combining(MRC)and each cluster selects a CH to participate in the communication process by employing the sensor node(SN)*** derive the closed-form exact expressions of the successful computation probability(SCP)to evaluate the system performance with the latency and energy consumption constraints of the considered *** results are provided to gain insight into the system performance in terms of the SCP based on system parameters such as the number of AP antennas,number of SNs in each cluster,task length,working frequency,offloading ratio,and transmit power ***,to determine the optimal resource parameters,i.e.,the offloading ratio,power allocation of the two CHs,and MEC AP resources,we proposed two algorithms to achieve the best system *** approach reveals that the optimal parameters with different schemes significantly improve SCP compared to other similar *** use Monte Carlo simulations to confirm the validity of our analysis.

Gastric cancer is a serious health threat, and pathological imaging is important in detecting it. These images can assist doctors in accurately determining the location of the cancer, thereby providing an important reference for clinical decision-making. In the field of image processing, deep learning technology is leading to more and more excellent segmentation models. The Trans-Unet model has achieved success in the image segmentation. However, when applying this model to gastric cancer pathological section data, the segmentation boundary appears jagged. We propose three possible solutions. First, we designed an attention connection module to replace the skip connections in the model to enhance the prediction accuracy of the model. Second, we designed a prediction processing unit that takes the model's prediction results as input and uses a Conditional Random Field (CRF) for further prediction calculations. To enable the model to meet the requirements of multi-classification of images, we designed a dynamic weight selection module to enhance the model's accuracy for multi-classification tasks. After our optimization, the optimized model improved by 8% on the DSC evaluation index and 39% on the HD evaluation index. In addition, the jagged boundary problem in the prediction results has also been effectively improved. Through comparative experiments and erosion experiments, we found that the improved method enhances the accuracy of model prediction and reduces the jagged results at the boundary. © 2024 IEEE.

Theoretical linguists have suggested that some languages (e.g., Chinese and Japanese) are "cooler" than other languages based on the observation that the intended meaning of phrases in these languages depends more on their contexts. As a result, many expressions in these languages are shortened, and their meaning is inferred from the context. In this paper, we focus on the omission of the plurality and definiteness markers in Chinese noun phrases (NPs) to investigate the predictability of their intended meaning given the contexts. To this end, we built a corpus of Chinese NPs, each of which is accompanied by its corresponding context, and by labels indicating its singularity/plurality and definiteness/indefiniteness. We carried out corpus assessments and analyses. The results suggest that Chinese speakers indeed drop plurality and definiteness markers very frequently. Building on the corpus, we train a bank of computational models using both classic machine learning models and state-of-the-art pre-trained language models to predict the plurality and definiteness of each NP. We report on the performance of these models and analyse their behaviours. In this paper, the problem of collaborative vehicle sensing is investigated. In the considered model, a set of cooperative vehicles provide sensing information to sensing request vehicles with limited sensing and communication resources. A base station (BS) determines the subset of sensing request vehicles that each cooperative vehicle will serve and the sub-regions that each cooperative vehicle will detect. We formulate an optimization problem aiming to maximize the number of successfully detected sub-regions of sensing request vehicles while satisfying the cooperative sensing energy requirement by jointly determining the cooperative vehicle association and the sensing sub-region selection. To solve this problem, we propose a graph attention based reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm that can generate the graph information vectors based on the correlation between each cooperative vehicle and each sensing request vehicle. Using the learned graph information, the joint cooperative vehicle association and sensing sub-region selection strategy will be determined. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the number of successfully detected sub-regions of sensing request vehicles by up to 12.5% compared to the conventional RL algorithm without using graph attention networks (GANs). © 2024 IEEE.

The development of the software and hardware has brought about the abundance and overflow of computing resources. Many Internet companies can lease idle computing resources based on the peak and valley cycles of usage load to provide IaaS service. After the surging development, more and more companies are gradually paying attention to the specific user experience in cloud computing. But there are few works about that aspect in load balance problem. Therefore, we consider the load balancing resource allocation problem, from the perspective of user experience, mainly based on geographical distance and regional Equilibrium, combined with user usage habits, in multiple service periods. A detailed mathematical definition has been established for this problem. This article proposes a mathematical model for the problem, along with an modified CMA-ES (Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy) algorithm, called WS-ESS-CMA-ES algorithm, to allocate computing resources and solve the above problem. The process of using the proposed algorithm to solve the problem of cloud computing resource allocation in real scenarios is simulated, and compared with some other algorithms. Route optimization is a key core technology to optimize network traffic distribution, achieve network load balancing, and improve network performance. Traditional distributed networks widely run shortest-path based routing protocols, and the path of traffic is determined by the link weights of the distributed network, so routing optimization methods are usually optimized around the link weights of the network. Heuristics-based link weight optimization methods are widely used. However, heuristic methods rely on manually set rules, which are poorly generalized and cannot adapt well to dynamically changing traffic demands. Compared to heuristics, deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has the advantage of extracting more accurate feature representations in addition to its ability to handle high-dimensional state and action spaces. We propose a network link weight optimization method based on anti-symmetric deep graph networks (A-DGN) and reinforcement learning using a novel GNN framework anti-symmetric deep graph networks, where link weights are adjusted to reduce the network link utilization with the optimization objective of minimizing the maximum link utilization in the network. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves significant performance improvements in the link weight optimization problem in four real-world network topology scenarios.

This paper proposes a constraint-aware safety control approach via adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) to address the control optimization issues for discrete-time systems subjected to state constraints. First, the constrained control framework is established via the primal-dual approach with the modified Lagrangian based on the relaxed barrier function. Herein, the Lagrangian multiplier is designed to achieve the trade-off between optimization performance and state constraints. In addition, the sub optimality of the dual method is built by proving that the dual gap can be arbitrarily small. And the value iteration algorithm is utilized to implement the constraint-aware ADP controller. Furthermore, the weight estimation error is proved to be bounded when the learning rate satisfies a given sufficient condition. Finally, numerical simulation proves the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Large scale artificial intelligence (AI) models possess excellent capabilities in semantic representation and understanding, making them particularly well-suited for semantic encoding and decoding. However, the substantial scale of these AI models imposes unacceptable computational resources and communication delays. To address this issue, we propose a semantic communication scheme based on robust knowledge distillation (RKD-SC) for large scale model enabled semantic communications. In the considered system, a transmitter extracts the features of the source image for robust transmission and accurate image classification at the receiver. To effectively utilize the superior capability of large scale model while make the cost affordable, we first transfer knowledge from a large scale model to a smaller scale model to serve as the semantic encoder. Then, to enhance the robustness of the system against channel noise, we propose a channel-aware autoencoder (CAA) based on the Transformer architecture. Experimental results show that the encoder of proposed RKD-SC system can achieve over 93.3% of the performance of a large scale model while compressing 96.67% number of parameters.
