Trauma is the main leading cause of death in children; we need a tool to prevent and predict the outcome in these patients. Data mining is the science of extracting the useful information from a large amount of data sets or databases that leads to statistical and logical analysis and looking for patterns that could help the decision makers. In This paper we offer an approach for using data mining in classifying mortality rate related to accidents in children under 15. These data were gathered from the patient files which were recorded in the medical record section of the Alzahra Hospital in Isfahan. The data mining methods in use are decision tree and Bayes' theorem. Applying DM techniques to the data brings about very interesting and valuable results. It is concluded that in this case, comparing the result of evaluating the models on test set, decision tree works better than Bayes' theorem. In this paper, we have used Clementine12.0 for creating the models.

In this paper protraction movement, namely stepping ahead, of a three joint robot leg is optimized for energy efficiency for any given pair of initial-final tip point positions. For the optimization a modified version of gradient descent based optimal control algorithm with Hamiltonian formulation is used. The objective function is modified in steps to jump over the infeasible and inefficient local optimums. The results of 79 optimizations are used to construct a radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) in order to interpolate between the optimized trajectories. The results are presented and discussed in the paper.

This paper describes an efficient implementation of neural multi-layer networks on FPGA fabric (Field Programmable Gate Array). A back-propagation algorithm was used for the training task while implementation and synthesis tools are centred on the ISE 6.3 of Xiliux with the targeted components being Virtex II and Virtex IIPro. A fixed point and a floating point number representation were used for encoding real numbers and for data processing, respectively. The realization of the activation function was carried out according to three methods, for which the results of simulation and synthesis are also presented. The implementation performances were tested using an approximation of some linear and non-linear functions. Of particular importance, an experimental evaluation involving the speed control of a DC motor is given to demonstrate the features of the adopted methodology.

Several inverter configurations have been proposed in literature to achieve fuel-cell power conversion at significantly lower cost, which is one of the most critical constrains to make such alternative energy systems viable. A single-stage isolated dc/ac Cuk inverter would potentially be a better alternative with reduced system complexity, costs, improved reliability, and high efficiency because it achieves direct dc/ac power conversion using only four main switches. Simple drive circuit (owing to all low-side power devices), possibility for integrated magnetics, and less turns ratio requirement for transformer lead to a low-cost, high-power-density energy-conversion system. This paper investigates the possibility of using and performance of this inverter for low power (< 3 kW) fuel-cell applications. The operational principle for isolated dc/ac Cuk inverter, which has not appeared in the literature, is presented. Key design issues of a 1 kW prototype for the application are addressed. In order to achieve higher efficiency, the turns ratio of the transformer needs to be selected to achieve a trade off between output voltage distortion and duty ratio range. Switching losses due to the leakage of the transformer and high reverse current during device turn off can be reduced by implementing active lossless clamp circuit, which has been presented in this paper.

Clustering is the process of discovering groups within multidimensional data, based on similarities, with a minimal, if any, knowledge of their structure. Distributed data clustering is a recent approach to deal with geographically distributed databases, since traditional clustering methods require centering all databases in a single dataset. Moreover, current privacy requirements in distributed databases demand algorithms with the ability to process clustering securely. Among the unsupervised neural network models, the self-organizing map (SOM) plays a major role. SOM features include information compression while trying to preserve the topological and metric relationship of the primary data space. This paper presents a strategy for efficient cluster analysis in geographically distributed databases using SOM networks. Local datasets relative to database vertical partitions are applied to distinct maps in order to obtain partial views of the existing clusters. Units of each local map are chosen to represent original data and are sent to a central site, which performs a fusion of the partial results. Experimental results are presented for different datasets.

＜正＞The use NonDestructive Testing and Evaluation （NDT＆E） techniques for the inspection of aerospace materials has progressively increase in the last few decades as commercial and military aircrafts exceed their initial design life. Aerospace components are typically made of aluminium,honeycomb structures, composites or fibre metal laminates （FML）,which are affected by different types of anomalies,namely:delaminations,disbonds,water ingress,node failure and core *** causes are either material contamination introduced during manufacture,***,solvents,moisture,oils,etc.;or by damages caused during in-flight operation,*** *** thermography techniques have proven to be an effective way to detect and,in many cases,to quantify the degree of surface and subsurface damage on such components. Several configurations have been proposed to achieve an active thermography inspection ranging from passive inspection,*** applying any external stimulation,to active approaches,in which an external source of energy is used to produce a thermal contrast between the non-defective and the defective material. The thermal stimulation can be delivered to the specimen surface by optical, mechanical,electromagnetic or other *** physics and the practical considerations behind these approaches are different in all cases,and the selection of one or another will depend on the specific application and the availability of the *** this paper,a review of recent developments on the thermographic inspection of aerospace materials is *** guidelines,supported with examples on real and academic specimens,are provided to illustrate the most suitable technique to be considered for some conventional applications.

In this paper we study the problem of jointly controlling routing and transmission scheduling in spatial TDMA (STDMA)-based multihop wireless networks, with the goal of determining the minimum-length schedule that satisfies a given end-to-end traffic demand. We present a cross-layer formulation of the problem that incorporates multi-path routing at the network layer, while concurrently generating matchings to address the media-access control problem. Each such matching consists of a set of links that can simultaneously be active, without violating the specified signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) requirement. We formulate our problem as one of mixed integer-linear programming, and we show that our column generation approach converges to a globally optimal solution. After considering a problem formulation that is restricted to the use of the same RF transmission power by all nodes, we extend our model to incorporate power adaptation, and demonstrate the resulting improvement in performance. We also discuss the insights that can be gained about the influence of power control, and spatial reuse on network performance.

This paper presents a concept of a smart working environment designed to allow true joint-actions of humans and industrial robots. The proposed system perceives its environment with multiple sensor modalities and acts in it with an industrial robot manipulator to assemble capital goods together with a human worker. In combination with the reactive behavior of the robot, safe collaboration between the human and the robot is possible. Furthermore, the system anticipates human behavior, based on knowledge databases and decision processes, ensuring an effective collaboration between the human and robot. As a proof of concept, we introduce a use case where an arm is assembled and mounted on a robotpsilas body.

We investigate the impact of node capture attacks on the confidentiality and integrity of network traffic. We map the compromise of network traffic to the flow of current through an electric circuit and propose a metric for quantifying the vulnerability of the traffic using the circuit mapping. We compute the vulnerability metric as a function of the routing and the cryptographic protocols used to secure the network traffic. We formulate the minimum cost node capture attack problem as a nonlinear integer programming problem. Due to the NP-hardness of the minimization problem, we provide a greedy heuristic that approximates the minimum cost attack. We provide examples of node capture attacks using our vulnerability metric and show that the adversary can expend significantly less resources to compromise target traffic by exploiting information leakage from the routing and cryptographic protocols.

In this paper, we present an analytical method to evaluate the quality performance of flexible manufacturing systems with batch operations. Many flexible manufacturing systems implement batch production to shorten changeover time, reduce cost, and improve quality. In such systems, different types of products are process in batches where all products in each batch have the same type. The change of product type only occurs after the last job in a batch is processed. A closed formula to quantify the probability of producing a good part is derived and structural properties to address the appropriate sequence of products are presented.
