For system-technology co-design (STCO) of BEOL compatible beyond-Silicon heterogeneously integrated (Oxide & 2D material) materials, we investigated the monolithic 3D integration of vertically stacked 1T1R and 2T0C1R DRAM-RRAM hybrid memory array with IGZO FETs and $\text{MoS}_{2}$ analog RRAMs for low voltage switching. Our wafer-scale process $(< 400^{\circ}\mathrm{C})$ demonstrates good device performance. The ITO-enhanced IGZO selecting transistors $\left(\mathrm{I}_{\text{on}}=196.5 \mu \mathrm{A} / \mu \mathrm{m}, \mathrm{I}_{\text {off }}=1 \text{pA} / \mu \mathrm{m}\right. at \left.\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{d}}=1 \mathrm{V}\right)$ integrated with solution deposited $\text{MoS}_{2}$ switching layer (3.6 nm), enable 1T1R memory cells with programming current $< 100\mu \mathrm{A}$ and voltage $< 1\mathrm{V}$ , compatible with CMOS logic core voltages. Furthermore, to address RRAMs endurance limitations, we propose an ultra-compact vertically stacked 2T0C1R gain cell DRAM-RRAM hybrid using dual-gated IGZO FET. We also propose an all-IGZO buffer capable of 3D BEOL data pipelining for concurrent multi-stacked array operations. Such 3D analog compute-in-memory architecture significantly reduces ADC energy overheads, achieving 121 TOPS/W efficiency and 4.73 TOPS throughput.

Image blending represents a technique employed in image composition, aimed at creating a composite image that appears as natural and realistic as possible. The objective of image blending is to ensure that the transitions between objects in the image appear seamless and without any color distortion. Recently, numerous studies investigated image blending methods adopting deep learning-based image processing algorithms and contributed to generating natural blended images. Although the previous studies show remarkable performance in many cases, they suffer from quality drop when blending incompletely cropped object. This paper introduces a novel approach that effectively reduces the unnatural edges and the color distortion in such cases. In this study, an algorithm which called edge checking (EC) is proposed to identify and manage incompletely cropped regions. To address missing or masked parts of the object image and integrate them into the image blending process, an inpainting generative adversarial model are employed.

It has recently been shown that there are no multimedia fingerprinting codes that can find all malicious users when they use arbitrary linear attacks plus adversarial noise. It is shown that such codes exist if the complete recovery property is limited to the IPP property, i.e., the property to find at least one malicious user. Moreover, we extend this property to a property that allows us to detect all users whose contribution to the forgery is large enough. Efficient decoding (tracing traitors) algorithms are developed for these codes.

A Pilot Protection Scheme for Hybrid Uhvdc System Based on Approximate Entropy of Energy Level

The hybrid UHVDC system can effectively combine the advantages of an LCC and VSC/MMC, which is a promising scheme for long-distance power transmission. However, the existing protection schemes for HVDC transmission systems cannot be fully adapted to the topology of the hybrid UHVDC system. And the existing main protection scheme for HVDC systems cannot meet the sensitivity requirement for high-impedance grounding faults. A pilot protection scheme based on approximate entropy is proposed to solve the problem above. The energy function is constructed and the energy level is calculated accordingly by sampling the data at both ends of the DC lines. Then the approximate entropy of the energy level is obtained and applied to construct the protection scheme. At last, the proposed protection scheme is verified on the simulation model of the Wudongde ±800 kV three-terminal hybrid UHVDC system. The results show that the fault pole and the fault line can be identified correctly, which will not be affected by the 600Ω grounding impedance and 40dB noise interference. © 2023, The Authors. The classification efficacy of Support Vector Machines (SVMs) heavily relies on hyperparameter selection, and optimizing parameters such as kernel type and regularization is particularly challenging due to the non-convex nature of the SVM objective function. In response to this challenge, we introduce a novel approach, the trailPSO technique, which combines Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) with Smell Agent Optimization (SAO) to achieve a balance between exploration and exploitation. The trailPSO algorithm is applied to optimize SVM hyperparameters, resulting in the trailPSOSVM model. We assess the performance of trailPSOSVM by employing it to classify breast cancer datasets, revealing superior outcomes compared to conventional methods. Notably, the proposed approach attains 100% accuracy with zero errors, showcasing its ability to identify optimal hyperparameter settings for enhanced classification accuracy and robustness. This study is part of an ongoing efforts towards extending the trailPSO algorithm for sentiment analysis and addressing imbalanced datasets in the realm of natural language processing.

Pressure sensitive robotic skins have long been investigated for applications to physical human-robot interaction (pHRI). Numerous challenges related to fabrication, sensitivity, density, and reliability remain to be addressed under various environmental and use conditions. In our previous studies, we designed novel strain gauge sensor structures for robotic skin arrays. We coated these star-shaped designs with an organic polymer piezoresistive material, Poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-ploy(styrenesulfonate) or PEDOT: PSS and integrated sensor arrays into elastomer robotic skins. In this paper, we describe a dry etching photolithographic method to create a stable uniform sensor layer of PEDOT:PSS onto starshaped sensors and a lamination process for creating doublesided robotic skins that can be used with temperature compensation. An integrated circuit and load testing apparatus was designed for testing the resulting robotic skin pressure performance. Experiments were conducted to measure the loading performance of the resulting sensor prototypes and results indicate that over 80% sensor yields are possible with this fabrication process. Robot-assisted healthcare could help alleviate the shortage of nursing staff in hospitals and is a potential solution to assist with safe patient handling and mobility. In an attempt to off-load some of the physically-demanding tasks and automate mundane duties of overburdened nurses, we have developed the Adaptive Robotic Nursing Assistant (ARNA), which is a custom-built omnidirectional mobile platform with a 6-DoF robotic manipulator and a force sensitive walking handlebar. In this paper, we present a robot-specific neuroadaptive controller (NAC) for ARNA’s mobile base that employs online learning to estimate the robot’s unknown dynamic model and nonlinearities. This control scheme relies on an inner-loop torque controller and features convergence with Lyapunov stability guarantees. The NAC forces the robot to emulate a mechanical system with prescribed admittance characteristics during patient walking exercises and bed moving tasks. The proposed admittance controller is implemented on a model of the robot in a Gazebo-ROS simulation environment, and its effectiveness is investigated in terms of online learning of robot dynamics as well as sensitivity to payload variations. There are many challenges associated with developing a feasible wireless communication system for the harsh underground mining environment. Radio signals suffer from strong attenuations due to the excessive reflections, diffractions, scatterings, and multipath caused by the irregular surface characteristics of the stope. This necessitates the need for a robust underground mine wireless communication network that can withstand these phenomena. The network will still need to provide enough bandwidth for productivity enhancement applications as well as maintain low latency alongside robustness for critical mine safety applications. Coded OFDM (COFDM) was identified as the wireless standard for dealing with the harsh mining environment. However, due to the standard not being mainstream, the implementation of such a system will be extremely expensive. This research identifies the possibility of utilising Wi-Fi6 (***) which utilizes Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) as a more cost-effective alternative as compared to COFDM. Experimental investigations for comparing COFDM and Wi-Fi6 have been conducted in terms of latency, jitter and throughput measurements in several different topology and configurations. The uncoded Wi- Fi6 was found to be quite capable for high bandwidth productivity enhancement applications for the stope at an economical price point as compared to the more robust COFDM. Hence the more expensive COFDM should only be deployed for the critical mine safety applications.

If Si CMOS for massive M3D is difficult due to need for high-thermal-budget processes, are there solutions that are beyond Si? In this article, we discuss two low-thermal-budget approaches: Oxide Semiconductor and 2D Materials for M3D integration. By reviewing some of our recent work with IGZO-based transistors and memories, followed by our investigation of the 2D material opportunities for 3D memories, we highlight the need for new low-thermal-budget additive techniques for heterogenous multi-material integration as well as low-temperature material modification. Given the unlikelihood of “perfect materials”, new system architecture-material-device co-design intervention will be essential to capitalize on the specific trade-offs of the components.

Bipolar medium-voltage dc (MVDC) distribution systems are of great interests nowadays due to its high availability and reliability. A bipolar MVDC grid can be established by the installation of power-balancers or directly by converters with inherent bipolar operation capability to avoid the extra cost and volume. Therefore, this paper proposes a modular multilevel dc-dc converter (MMDC) with inherent bipolar operation capability for the interconnection of bipolar MVDC grids and LVDC girds. Considering that the MMDC is normally only capable of operating with monopole MVDC distribution systems due to the symmetric structure and operation scheme, a center-Tapped high-frequency interface transformer is employed on the MV side of the MMDC. Based on the concept of the flux dc-bias cancellation, a dedicated operation method is proposed, whereby the power flows of the two MVDC poles can be regulated independently with a simple control scheme, and no penalty of increased current rating is imposed on the semiconductor devices or the interface transformer compared to the conventional MMDC with monopole operation. Additionally, the MMDC can realize single-pole operation in case one pole is faulty and deliver at least 50% of the rated power capacity, which significantly enhance the reliability and availability of the power delivery. The validity of the proposed bipolar operation scheme of the MMDC has been verified by both simulations and experiments with a down-scale prototype. © 2017 CPSS.
