After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, online teaching has gradually emerged as an indispensable component of education. Despite its convenience, online education lacks the immediate interactive experience inherent in traditional classrooms. This paper presents a meticulously designed DS-YOLOv8 network model, specifically tailored for real-time recognition of students raising their hands under cameras. On our proprietary dataset, this network model exhibits exceptional accuracy in hand-raising detection, showcasing a 1.3% improvement in the AP50 index compared to the baseline YOLOv8 model. Our focus lies on the application of hand-raising detection within online classrooms with an objective to provide enhanced support for teachers by promptly identifying students raising their hands and thereby improving teaching efficiency while enriching the interactive experience of students in virtual learning environments. © 2023 IEEE.

Mathematical formulas are ubiquitous in courses such as Machine Learning. Understanding these formulas is the primary challenge for studying of students. If a searchable knowledge base can be built for these formulas, it will help students learn. Accurate identification of these formulas is an important step in building and querying the knowledge base. However, mathematical formulas have complex two-dimensional and nested structures, which makes them inconvenient to search like ordinary text. This paper employs Faster R-CNN to detect regions containing mathematical formulas and improves its backbone network, anchor box dimensions, and pre-training network to make it more accurate and efficient in identifing these formulas. Furthermore, in order to enhance the features and meaningful representation of mathematical formulas in the input image, we introduce the distance transformation. Finally, comparative experiments were conducted on the publicly dataset GTDB. Our proposed approach achieved recognition rates of 91.22% and 85.74% for isolated and hybrid formulas detection. © 2023 IEEE.

The processes of sowing and fertiliser application represent a significant aspect of agricultural production. In order to achieve efficient and precise seeding and fertiliser application, mass flow detection of seed and fertiliser particles can facilitate real-time monitoring and precise decision-making for intelligent seeding and fertiliser application. However, the diversity of seed and fertiliser particle types and particle flow modes presents a challenge for existing detection methods, particularly in meeting the varying operational requirements, especially for particle mass flow detection in low-altitude and high-speed sowing operations of agricultural drones. In such cases, the overlap and flow rate will have a significant impact on the detection results due to the large displacement and the continuous high-throughput dense phase of the particle flow. This paper provides a summary of the existing seed and fertiliser particle mass flow detection techniques and their underlying working principles. It compares the direct detection based on mass with the indirect detection methods based on velocity and concentration, and analyses their respective advantages, disadvantages and applicability. It also explores the possibility of optimising the existing detection methods for the specific needs of agricultural UAVs and considers the potential introduction of cutting-edge science and technology in order to develop an efficient, accurate and convenient detection system to meet the growing market demand. © (2025), (INMA Bucharest). Rockburst is a phenomenon in which free surfaces are formed during excavation,which subsequently causes the sudden release of energy in the construction of mines and *** rockburst only peels off rock slices without ejection,while severe rockburst causes casualties and property *** frequency and degree of rockburst damage increases with the excavation ***,rockburst is the leading engineering geological hazard in the excavation process,and thus the prediction of its intensity grade is of great significance to the development of geotechnical ***,the prediction of rockburst intensity grade is one problem that needs to be solved *** comprehensively considering the occurrence mechanism of rockburst,this paper selects the stress index(σθ/σc),brittleness index(σ_(c)/σ_(t)),and rock elastic energy index(Wet)as the rockburst evaluation indexes through the Spearman coefficient *** overcomes the low accuracy problem of a single evaluation index prediction *** this,the BGD-MSR-DNN rockburst intensity grade prediction model based on batch gradient descent and a multi-scale residual deep neural network is *** batch gradient descent(BGD)module is used to replace the gradient descent algorithm,which effectively improves the efficiency of the network and reduces the model training ***,the multi-scale residual(MSR)module solves the problem of network degradation when there are too many hidden layers of the deep neural network(DNN),thus improving the model prediction *** experimental results reveal the BGDMSR-DNN model accuracy to reach 97.1%,outperforming other comparable ***,actual projects such as Qinling Tunnel and Daxiangling Tunnel,reached an accuracy of 100%.The model can be applied in mines and tunnel engineering to realize the accurate and rapid prediction of rockburst intensity grade.

Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). With the development of artificial intelligence, an increasing number of studies have begun to explore its application in cancer treatment prediction. However, the prior methods exhibit considerable variability even with slight modifications to the input data, which could potentially undermine the reliability of the results. In this paper, we proposed RP-Net, a novel multi-modal fusion-based framework that combines feature information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole slide images (WSI), establishing a relationship to map the therapeutic effectiveness of nCRT for LARC. We investigated the relationship of the tumour region and its periphery tissues, and demonstrated the validity of the proposed framework that involving 11 different combinations of modalities. The experimental results revealed that it has achieved higher prediction accuracy compared to the four intra-categories single-modal combinations and outperformed the two intra-categories multi-modal combinations. When compared to the other four inter-categories multi-modal combinations, the fusion features get accuracy of 2% ∼ 6% improvement respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Anomaly detection has been widely explored by training an out-of-distribution detector with only normal data. Medical image analysis, as a common tool, faces the challenge of how to further enhance the detection performance for thyroid cancer, especially with the application of various deep learning methods in the thyroid-related field. In this paper, we validate the effectiveness of sonographic feature descriptions (textual information) for thyroid cancer diagnosis. Building on this, we propose a simple multimodal self-supervised framework that leverages both textual and image modalities for thyroid cancer anomaly detection. Results on a private dataset demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed method compared to advanced methods. © 2024 IEEE.

A four-port multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dielectric resonator (DR) antenna (DRA) is presented in this paper. Combing four rectangular DRs together can form a single DR element. With shape modification and conformal strips, the four ports can be decoupled. To verify the design idea, a transparent prototype can be designed and fabricated for 2.4-GHz band applications. The measured results show an impedance bandwidth of 5.8% and an isolation level of 24 dB. © 2024 IEEE.

This article presents a novel efficient method for gridless line spectrum estimation problems with single snapshot and sparse signals, namely the gradient descent least-squares (GDLS) method. Conventional single-snapshot (a.k.a. single-measure vector or SMV) line spectrum estimation methods either rely on smoothing techniques that sacrifice the range and/or azimuth resolution or adopt the sparsity constraint and utilize the compressed sensing (CS) method by defining prior grids and resulting in the off-grid problem. Recently emerged atomic norm minimization (ANM) methods achieved gridless SMV line spectrum estimation, but its computational complexity is extremely high;thus, it is practically infeasible in real applications with large problem scales. Our proposed GDLS method reformulates the line spectrum estimations problem into a least-squares (LSs) estimation problem and solves the corresponding objective function via a gradient descent algorithm in an iterative fashion with efficiency. The convergence guarantee, computational complexity, and performance analysis for evenly distributed antenna array cases are discussed in this article. Numerical simulations show that the proposed GDLS algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, for example, CS and ANM, in terms of estimation performances. It can completely avoid the off-grid problem, and its computational complexity is significantly lower than ANM. Our method has been tested in tomographic SAR (TomoSAR) imaging applications via simulated and real experimental data. Results show the great potential of the proposed method in terms of better cloud point performance and eliminating the gridding effect. © 1980-2012 IEEE.
