Transition metal(oxy)hydroxides are potential oxygen evolution reaction(OER)electrocatalysts;however,simultaneously modulating multiple factors to enhance their performance is a grand ***,we report an incorporating heteroatom strategy via one-step hydrothermal approach to adjust more than one factor of Mn-doped NiFe(oxy)hydroxide(Mn-NiFeOOH/LDH)*** doping regulates heterojunction morphology(reducing nanoparticles and becoming thinner and denser nanosheets),Ni/Fe ratio and valence states(Ni2+,Ni3+,and Ni3+Δ)of Ni *** former could effectively increase surface active sites,and the latter two reduce the content of Fe in the Mnx-NiFeOOH/LDH heterojunction,en-abling more Ni2+convert to Ni3+/3+Δ that have higher intrinsic OER *** a result,the first-rank Mn-NiFeOOH/LDH with ultra-low overpotential of 185 mV@20 mA cm-2 and 296 mV@500 mA cm-2,and the improved OER performance are outdo to those of commercial RuO2 catalyst for ***,the Mn-NiFeOOH/LDH affords the earliest initial potential(1.392 V ***),corresponds to a recorded low overpotential(162 mV).Based on the density functional theory(DFT),Mn dopants can alter intermedi-ate adsorption energy and effectively decrease·OOH's energy *** research exhibits a feasible strategy to design low cost electrocatalysts and provide new possibilities for future industrialization.

To accurately reconstruct the tomographic gamma scanning(TGS)transmission measurement image,this study optimized the transmission reconstruction equation based on the actual situation of TGS transmission *** the transmission reconstruction equation and the Monte Carlo program Geant4,an innovative virtual trajectory length model was *** model integrated the solving process for the trajectory length and detection efficiency within the same *** mitigate the influence of the angular distribution ofγ-rays emitted by the transmitted source at the detector,the transport processes of numerous particles traversing a virtual nuclear waste barrel with a density of zero were ***,a certain amount of information was captured at each step of particle ***,the model addressed the nonuniform detection efficiency of the detector end face by considering whether the energy deposition of particles in the detector equaled their initial *** models were established to validate the accuracy and reliability of the virtual trajectory length *** 1 was a simplified nuclear waste barrel,whereas Model 2 closely resembled the actual structure of a nuclear waste *** results indicated that the proposed virtual trajectory length model significantly enhanced the precision of the trajectory length determination,substantially increasing the quality of the reconstructed *** example,the reconstructed images of Model 2 using the“point-to-point”and average trajectory models revealed a signalto-noise ratio increase of 375.0%and 112.7%,***,the virtual trajectory length model proposed in this study holds paramount significance for the precise reconstruction of transmission ***,it can provide support for the accurate detection of radioactive activity in nuclear waste barrels.

Quasi-coherent micro-instabilities is one of the key topics of magnetic confinement fusion. This work focuses on the quasi-coherent spectra of ion temperature gradient(ITG) and trapped-electron-mode instabilities using newly developed far-forward collective scattering measurements within ohmic plasmas in the J-TEXT *** ITG mode is characterized by frequencies ranging from 30 to 100 k Hz and wavenumbers(k_(θρs)) less than 0.3. Beyond a critical plasma density threshold, the ITG mode undergoes a bifurcation, which is marked by a reduction in frequency and an enhancement in amplitude. Concurrently, enhancements in ion energy loss and degradation in confinement are observed. This ground-breaking discovery represents the first instance of direct experimental evidence that establishes a clear link between ITG instability and ion thermal transport.

A dedicated weak current measurement system was designed to measure the weak currents generated by the neutron ionization *** system incorporates a second-order low-pass filter circuit and the Kalman filtering algorithm to effectively filter out noise and minimize interference in the measurement *** conducted under normal temperature conditions has demonstrated the system's high precision ***,it was observed that temperature variations can affect the measurement *** were collected across temperatures ranging from -20 to 70℃,and a temperature correction model was established through linear regression fitting to address this *** feasibility of the temperature correction model was confirmed at temperatures of -5 and 40℃,where relative errors remained below 0.1% after applying the temperature *** research indicates that the designed measurement system exhibits excellent temperature adaptability and high precision,making it particularly suitable for measuring weak currents.

Ultrafast joule-heating synthesis of FeCoMnCuAl high-entropy-alloy nanoparticles as efficient OER electrocatalysts

High entropy alloys（HEAs）, known for their synergistic orbital interactions among multiple elements, have been recognized as promising electrocatalysts for enhancing the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction（OER）. Despite their potential, the facile and rapid preparation of HEA nanoparticles（NPs） with high electrocatalytic activity remains challenging. Here, we report an ultrafast synthesis of noble-metal-free FeCoMnCuAl HEA NPs loaded on conductive carbon fiber networks using a Joule heating strategy. The prepared HEA NPs exhibited a face-centered cubic（FCC） structure with an average size of approximately 25 *** X-ray absorption fine structure（XAFS） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） studies were performed to investigate the atomic and electronic structures of the HEA NPs, revealing the co-presence of Fe, Co, Mn, Cu and Al elements as well as their different valences across surface and internal regions. The HEA NPs showed remarkable OER performance, exhibiting an overpotential of 280 mV at 10 mA cm-2and a low Tafel slope of 76.13 mV dec-1in a 1.0 M KOH solution with high electrochemical stability, superior to commercial RuO2electrocatalysts. This work provides a new approach for synthesizing nanoscale noble-metal-free HEA electrocatalysts for clean energy conversion applications on a large-scale basis for practical commercialization.

Repelling effects of Mg on diffusion of He atoms towards surface in SiC: Irradiation and annealing experiments combined with first-principles calculations

In this study,the effects of Mg on the formation of He bubbles and diffusion behavior of He atoms in cubic silicon carbide(3C–SiC)were investigated by irradiation and annealing experiments as well as first-principles *** results indicated that two damage bands were formed in He&Mg irradiated *** annealing,Mg could prevent He atoms from diffusing to the surface,resulting in the formation of the He bubbles in the deeper areas far from Mg-implanted regions,which is helpful in avoiding surface ***-principles calculations were then performed to explore the effects of Mg on the He behavior in *** solution energy,binding energy charge density,bond length,and crystal orbital Hamiltonian population of these elements were calculated to identify their *** results suggested that the binding capacity between He and Mg was weak,and Mg could increase the diffusion energy barrier of *** initio molecular dynamics(AIMD)simulation showed that Mg could make He in a high-energy unstable state,and force He atom to move toward the vacancy away from Mg,which explains the experimental results.

Pioneering radiation dosimetry and photothermal conversion in a photochromic and radiochromic thorium cluster

Understanding the fundamental properties of actinide-based materials is pivotal in unlocking new solutions for challenges in nuclear waste management. In this work, we showcase a novel thorium cluster(Th-npc) that exhibits an extremely rare Th–N bond capping the square antiprismatic Th4+metal center. Remarkably, Th-npc exhibits both photochromic and radiochromic behaviors under UV and X-ray radiation, respectively, allowing for distinct, measurable colorimetric shifts that facilitate a redgreen-blue(RGB) radiation dosimetry method. The integration of Th-npc with a custom-built optoelectronic device enables onsite radiation dosimetry, offering the advantages of simple operation and rapid data acquisition. Additionally, this work pioneers the application of actinide materials in photothermal conversion, opening new avenues for the strategic utilization of thoriumbased compounds.

Influence of element substitutions on poisoning behavior of ZrV_(2)alloy:theoretical and experimental investigations

A ZrV_(2)alloy is typically susceptible to poisoning by impurity gases,which causes a considerable reduction in the hydrogen storage properties of the *** this study,the adsorption characteristics of oxygen on ZrV_(2)surfaces doped with Hf,Ti,and Pd are investigated,and the effect of oxygen on the hydrogen storage performance of the alloy was ***,the adsorption energy,bond-length change,density of states,and differential charge density of the alloy before and after doping are analyzed using the first-principles *** theoretical results show that Ti doping has a limited effect on the adsorption of oxygen atoms on the ZrV_(2)surface,whereas Hf doping decreases the adsorption energy of oxygen on the ZrV_(2)*** atoms are more difficult to adsorb at most adsorption sites on Pd-substituting surfaces,which indicates that Pd has the best anti-poisoning properties,followed by *** analysis of the differential charge density and partial density of states show that the electron interaction between the oxygen atom and surface atom of the alloys is weakened,and the total energy is reduced after Hf and Pd *** on theoretical calculations,the hydrogen absorption kinetics of ZrV_(2),Zr_(0.9)Hf_(0.1)V_(2),and Zr(V_(0.9)Pd_(0.1))_(2) alloys are studied in a hydrogen-oxygen mixture of 0.5 vol%O_(2) at 25℃.The experimental results show that the hydrogen storage capacities of ZrV_(2),Zr_(0.9)Hf_(0.1)V_(2),and Zr(V_(0.9)Pd_(0.1))_(2) decrease to 19%,69%,and 80%of their original values,*** order of alloy resistance to 0.5 vol%O_(2) poisoning is Zr(V_(0.9)Pd_(0.1))_(2)>Zr_(0.9)Hf_(0.1)V_(2)>ZrV_(2).Pd retains its original hydrogen absorption performance to a greater extent than undoped surfaces,and it has the strongest resistance to poisoning,which is consistent with previous theoretical calculations.
