Rhinosinusitis Mucus is mucus produced by mucus glands found in the nose in the paranasal sinus area which indicates inflammation. Segmentation of rhinosinusitis mucus is very difficult to do because of the many characteristics of different objects in the image of the paranasal Sinus CT-Scan in separating the mucus object with its background before the extraction process. The purpose of this study was to accurately identify and measure the mucus area of rhinosinusitis from CT-scan images of rhinosinusitis patients. The test data used in this study is secondary data from CT-Scan of paranasal sinus sagittal view in radiology RSUP M. Djamil Padang, Padang City, West Sumatra, Indonesia, using the Philips Ingenuity CT CT-Scan model type MRC880 numbered Tube series 163889. The segmentation process is carried out to obtain the optimal multi threshold value from each slice of the test image using the Improved Adaptive Multi Threshold (IAMT) segmentation method which produces a binary image to separate the mucus object with its background before the extraction process. Furthermore, the results of IAMT are applied to the identification and extraction model automatically to obtain the area of the rhinosinusitis mucus object. The extraction results were used for 2D to 3D image reconstruction in calculating the volume of rhinosinusitis mucus objects. The test results showed that the smallest area of rhinosinusitis mucus was 0.516 cm2 and the largest was 1.807 cm2, and the average volume was 0.95 cm3 with Accuracy is 96,5%. The identified areas and volumes indicate inflammation in the area of the paranasal sinuses and require treatment. Thus, this study can help doctors in making the right decision to take further medical action. © 2024 IEEE.

Tourist destination reviews on Google Maps have become a valuable point of reference for visitors seeking enjoyable spots to visit. Additionally, users can gain insight into the reasons for writing reviews. Text classification is used to determine the motivation behind these reviews. The aim of this study is to compare machine learning (ML) text classification techniques for identifying the intent behind sentiments expressed as complaints (0), suggestions (1), opinions (2), statements(3), and awards (4). The ML techniques assessed are Multinomial Naive Bayes (MNB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN). To achieve this, tourist destination review data sets, comprising 738 reviews, were collected using web scraping from the Google Maps website. Preprocessing stages, including case-folding, tokenisation, filtering and stemming, are executed prior to the data being prepped for feature extraction with TF-IDF. The employed classification models perform well with KNN achieving 1.00 accuracy on a 90:10 data split, and SVM obtaining 0.90 on the same data split. Although, the Multinomial Naive Bayes algorithm with 0.70 accuracy on a 90:10 data split is classified as fair. Comparison of methods was conducted by means of a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) diagram. The testing accuracy for the SVM method was found to be 95%, MNB at 91%, and KNN at 84%. © 2023 IEEE.

Fetal mortality and newborn health issues require urgent attention because of high maternal and infant mortality rates during labor, highlighting the critical need for accurate fetal condition monitoring to reduce complications. This study proposes the development of a fetal health risk classification model based on Important Feature Selection (IFS) and a Classification and Regression Tree (CART) using cardiotocography (CTG) data from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. The IFS method was used to select the most relevant features, reduce model complexity, and increase generalization to prevent overfitting. The IFS-CART model was tested with 10-fold cross-validation and showed an accuracy of 94.50%, superior to the conventional CART, which only reached 93.83%. In addition, the average values of the True Positive Rate (TPR) and True Negative Rate (TNR) also increased, indicating that this model is effective in distinguishing normal, suspected, and pathological fetal conditions. Evaluation using the area under the curve receiver operating characteristic (AUC-ROC) showed that the model had high performance in detecting at-risk conditions, with an AUC of 0.981 for the"suspect" class. This finding confirmed that IFS-CART is not only accurate but also has high interpretability, making it easy for medical personnel to use for clinical decision support. The results of this study show that IFS-CART can serve as a reliable decision support system for real-time fetal health monitoring. The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies into modern homes has enhanced safety and comfort, particularly in detecting gas leaks, which pose serious fire hazards. Gas leaks can often be detected by smell, but this method fails when no one is present. Previous research using microcontrollers and sensors to detect gas leaks faced challenges with accuracy due to noise interference. This paper proposes the use of a Kalman filter, developed by Rudolf Emil Kalman in 1960, to improve gas leak detection accuracy by filtering out noise. The system comprises an Arduino Nano, ESP8266 WiFi module, MQ-2 gas sensor, buzzer, and ThingSpeak cloud platform. By applying the Kalman filter, noise and data oscillations are reduced, enhancing detection accuracy. Experimental results show the system effectively detects gas leaks, provides real-time data, and triggers alarms. Future improvements could include additional sensors and features to further increase the system’s reliability and functionality.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted gaps in health surveillance systems, disease prevention, and treatment globally. Among the many factors that might have led to these gaps is the issue of the financing of national health systems, especially in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as a robust global system for pandemic preparedness. We aimed to provide a comparative assessment of global health spending at the onset of the pandemic;characterise the amount of development assistance for pandemic preparedness and response disbursed in the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic;and examine expectations for future health spending and put into context the expected need for investment in pandemic preparedness. Methods: In this analysis of global health spending between 1990 and 2021, and prediction from 2021 to 2026, we estimated four sources of health spending: development assistance for health (DAH), government spending, out-of-pocket spending, and prepaid private spending across 204 countries and territories. We used the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s Creditor Reporting System (CRS) and the WHO Global Health Expenditure Database (GHED) to estimate spending. We estimated development assistance for general health, COVID-19 response, and pandemic preparedness and response using a keyword search. Health spending estimates were combined with estimates of resources needed for pandemic prevention and preparedness to analyse future health spending patterns, relative to need. Findings: In 2019, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, US$9·2 trillion (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 9·1–9·3) was spent on health worldwide. We found great disparities in the amount of resources devoted to health, with high-income countries spending $7·3 trillion (95% UI 7·2–7·4) in 2019;293·7 times the $24·8 billion (95% UI 24·3–25·3) spent by low-income countries in 2019. Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Application knowledge base for diabetes such as expert systems has been developed, but generally using conventional methods that have limitations in representing knowledge. Ontology supports the search of data / information by defining the concept of convergent intended by the user. This study using Diabetes Mellitus Classification based diabetes disease diagnosis from World Health Organization Geneva. This system receives input patient data from user. Then, system will build the patient ontology to represent patient knowledge. We are connecting Java applications to Protégé using OWL API. Then, system will calculate the weight of an ontology based on density. This system use JENA Inference Engine and working memory area for reasoning. The system would then do process similarity matching with Ontology Diabetes Mellitus using weighted tree similarity algorithm. Ontology has the highest similarity value will be the proposed diagnosis. Results of this study show that the representation in the form of OWL ontology using weighted ontology and weighted tree similarity algorithm can be used to represent knowledge about diabetes mellitus.
