The proxy cache for streaming media is the important method to economize the resources of the Internet. The cache policies influence the effect for proxy cache. In this paper, based on the client's request rate, cached the video based on segmentation, we proposed that the method for batch, patch and batch patching using dynamic cache. The policies of batch and batch patching using dynamic cache based on segmentation enlarge the width of the batch and patching. It combines dynamic cache based on segmentation with the excellence of patching. Presented that allocation relation between the segmented cache and dynamic cache in the batch and patching, and assured that batch patching using dynamic cache of proxy for streaming media based on segmentation is optimal. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

An ontology-based method named AOBM is proposed in this paper. It fully takes into account the factors that will afect the communication, and using ontology can be represented in agent's knowledge base. Pmvided ontology did not belong to the public data or have any public ontology, AOBM establishes a layering algorithm, which is able to avoid logical exception handling policies, ensure the right understanding of the communication entity concept, and resolve the consistency problem of the concept translation. Experimental results show that AOBM is superior to other methods, and can effectively improve the communication consistency of a mobile agent system under certain conditions. © 2006 IEEE.

In this paper, we analyze the method of support-confidence framework when mining association rules. In order to avoid the limitation in the criterion, we propose a new method of match as the substitution of confidence. We analyze in detail the property of the proposed measurement. Experimental results show that there is higher correlation between the antecedent and the consequent of the rules produced by the improved method compared with the rules produced by the support-confidence framework. Furthermore, the improved method decreases the generation of redundancy rules. © 2005 IEEE.

Structural similarity computation plays a crucial role in many applications such as in searching similar documents, in comparing chemical compounds, in finding genetic similarities, etc. We propose in this paper to use structural information content (SIC) for measuring structural information, considering both the nodes and edges of trees. We utilize a binary encoding approach for assigning the weights of different layer nodes and determining if some tree is a subtree of another tree. By defining a fast kernel and recursively computing SICs, we evaluate the structural information similarities of data trees to pattern trees. In the paper, we present the algorithm for calculating SICs with computation complexity of O(n), and use simple examples to instantiate the performance of the proposed method..

In this paper, we explore the links between two well-known models in spatial and temporal reasoning - Allen's interval algebra in temporal reasoning and the RCC model in spatial reasoning. We show that the temporal relations identified by interval algebra are actually a combination of RCC-8 relations with directional relations. The work divides RCC-8 relations into two distinct sets with respect to directional factors. This result can be utilized to combine topology and directional relations in particular applications.

Hardware description language (HDL) is widely used to model the structure and behavior of digital systems ranging from simple hardware building blocks to complete systems in today's hardware design. To tackle with ever-increasing complexity of process models, higher level of abstraction needs to be exploited. We propose an ontology-based architecture in the process of hardware design using HDLs. The architecture combines the traditional HDL design processes with ontology models and offers a semi-automatic process utilizing the ontology reasoning abilities of OWL (Web ontology language). Based on such ontology assistant architecture, more flexible and automatic processes can be devised, which are of crucial importance to meet current market demands.

Mobile agent need migrate to several hosts for accomplishing its task. Migration strategy is responsible for planning out an optimal migration path, which ensures mobile agent to complete its task correctly and efficiently at the minimum cost. The paper introduces the concept of itinerary graph and presents three migration strategies based on it. Itinerary graph not only describes the migration semantics of mobile agent but also reflects the changes of software and hardware environment where mobile agent lives. During its travel, mobile agent equipped with itinerary graph perceives these changes, react quickly, modify its migration path autonomously and accomplish its task according to certain specified criterions, which embody the reactivity and autonomy of agent. Besides improving the efficiency, these migration strategies enhances the performance of mobile agent system because they avoid migration failure resulted from network disconnection or node crashing.

Ontology based approach has been popularized by current semantic Web researches. However, ontology building by hand has proven to be a very hard and error-prone task and become the bottleneck of ontology acquiring process. WordNet, an electronic lexical database, is considered to be the most important resource available to researchers in computational linguistics. The paper proposes an ontology learning approach, which uses WordNet lexicon resources to build a standard OWL ontology model. The approach can the automation of ontology building and be very useful in ontology-based applications.

Automatic image segmentation remains a challenging problem in the fields of computer vision, image analysis and understanding. A lot of algorithms and technologies have been proposed and developed for image segmentation, among which the N-cut has been a promising method and active research area due to better quality. But the N-cut can't process medium and large image dataset online due to incredible memory and time complexity. Moreover, the N-cut algorithm can't utilize texture information since its basic unit of clustering algorithm is pixel. To overcome the drawback and improve the description power, the paper proposes a block-based N-cut algorithm for image segmentation, whose basic unit of clustering is image block instead of individual pixel. Block-based algorithm not only decreases the time and storage complexity, but also improves the discrimination power of visual feature vector. The experiments demonstrate that proposed algorithm outperform the original N-cut algorithm in efficiency. Experiments show that the proposed block-based N-cut algorithm is more suitable for online processing large-scale data. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
