To achieve automatic grading of potting seedlings, improve performance, and reduce complexity, we collected and constructed a grading dataset using tomato potting seedlings as the test subject. We selected the YOLOv5n target detection model as the baseline model. We reduced the number of model parameters through lightweight improvements, integrated the similarity-based attention mechanism into the backbone network, enhanced the accuracy of potting seedling feature recognition by improving the CIOU loss function to EIOU, and performed global channel pruning on the improved model to further reduce its complexity. Experiments demonstrate the following results: the final model achieves a recall of 92.1%, an average precision mean of 94.9%, has 0.9×106M parameters, performs 2.1G floating-point operations, has a model weight size of 2.2M, and achieves a detection speed of 130 frames per second. Deployment and testing on edge devices confirm that the model achieves low computational requirements, has a small parameter count, maintains fast and accurate performance, and can be used for real-time classification of potting seedlings. © 2024 SPIE.

Guangdong Province,as one of China’s fast-developing regions,an important manufacturing base,and one of the national first round low-carbon pilots,still faces many challenges in controlling its total energy *** dominates Guangdong’s energy consumption and remains the major source of CO_(2).Previous research on factors influencing energy consumption has lacked a systematic analysis both from supply side(factors related to scale,structure,and technologies)and demand side(investment,consumption,and trade).This paper develops the logarithmic mean Divisia index(LMDI)method that focuses on the supply side and the structural decomposition analysis(SDA)method that focuses on the demand side to systematically identify the key factors driving coal consumption in *** are as follows:(1)Supply side analysis indicates that economic growth has always been the most important factor driving coal consumption growth,while energy intensity is the most important constraining *** structure and energy structure have different impacts on coal consumption control during different development phases.(2)Demand side analysis indicates that coal is consumed mainly for international exports,inter-provincial exports,fixed capital formation,and urban household.(3)Industries with the fastest coal consumption growth driven by final demand have experienced significant *** in industrial sectors were mainly driven by inter-provincial exports and urban household consumption in recent years.(4)Research on energy consumption in subnational regions under China’s new development pattern of“dual circulation”should not only focus on exports in the context of economic globalization but also pay more attention to inter-provincial exports on the background of strengthened interregional connections.

Reconstructing the Holocene megaflood history is a key component of understanding the mechanism of past climate change and assessing the potential impact of future catastrophic *** Pearl River is the longest watercourse in southern China,and its lower reach has been identified as one of the world's most vulnerable regions for flood ***,there is a complete lack of millennial-scale geological records of paleomegafloods for the future prediction of once-in-a-hundred(even once-in-a-thousand)year floods in southern ***,we identified a series of paleomegaflood deposits interbedded with wood-rich peat layers in the lower West Pearl River *** paleoflood layers have been well dated using AMS~(14)C dating *** to the regional correlation of the flood sequence,sediment characteristics and provenance analysis,there have been at least 7 megafloods corresponding to once-in-a-thousand-year events in the lower reaches of the West Pearl River during the past 6000 years,with an average return period of approximately 855 *** identified paleomegafloods were coeval with periods of strong El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO),indicating that weakening of the Asian summer monsoon,associated with enhanced ENSO variability,may have triggered abnormally high precipitation leading to flooding of exceptional magnitude in southern *** addition,the most prominent paleomegafloods identified in the lower Pearl River coincided with intervals of lower precipitation and fewer storms in central-eastern China,indicating the intensification of the meridional“tripole”pattern of precipitation across eastern China during the latter half of the *** land use and deforestation over the last 2000 years have resulted in soil loss and rapid degradation of local primeval forest ecosystems,leading to more catastrophic *** amounts of rice pollen in the uppermost flood layer during the Song Dynasty indicate that this megaflood may have inu

Typhoon Siamba made landfall in Western Guangdong on July 2, 2022, causing great losses to crops in western Guangdong. Radar remote sensing can penetrate through clouds and fog, is suitable for identifying flooded areas before or after typhoons and in rainy weather. However, radar flooded waterbody mapping faces two major problems: distinguishing between flooded areas and natural waterbody, and the other is noise interference from confusing ground objects. Aiming at these problems, the study proposes a method of high-precision cropland information combined with waterbody identification. Based on GF-3 and Mapbox data, this paper first uses watershed semantic segmentation to extract initial waterbody, then uses SegFormer deep learning technology to identify cropland, finally realizes flooded cropland mapping based on cropland information. This study concluded that the affected cropland in Zhanjiang and Maoming City, Guangdong Province, China is 75.437 km2 and 31.175 km2 respectively. The cropland extraction accuracy and Intersection over Union (IoU) are 96.65% and 92.64% respectively. The study shows that flood monitoring combined with cropland identification information can effectively avoid noise interference and accurately extract the flood range, and achieve high-precision flooded cropland mapping. © 2023 SPIE.

We address the challenges in achieving optimal Quality of Information (QoI) for non-dedicated vehicular Mobile Crowdsensing (MCS) systems, by utilizing vehicles not originally designed for sensing purposes to provide real-time data while moving around the city. These challenges include the coupled sensing coverage and sensing reliability, as well as the uncertainty and time-varying vehicle status. To tackle these issues, we propose QUEST, a QUality-informed multi-agEnt diSpaTching system, that ensures high sensing coverage and sensing reliability in non-dedicated vehicular MCS. QUEST optimizes QoI by introducing a novel metric called ASQ (aggregated sensing quality), which considers both sensing coverage and sensing reliability jointly. Additionally, we design a mutual-aided truth discovery dispatching method to estimate sensing reliability and improve ASQ under uncertain vehicle statuses. Real-world data from our deployed MCS system in a metropolis is used for evaluation, demonstrating that QUEST achieves up to 26% higher ASQ improvement, leading to a reduction of reconstruction map errors by 32-65% for different reconstruction algorithms.

Tropical and subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests(EBFs)and needle-leaved forests(ENFs)in China exhibit complex leaf shedding strategies in responses to soil water availability,vapor pressure deficits(VPDs)and sunlight ***,the seasonal variations and triggers of litterfall differ significantly in tropical/subtropical forests,and there are still many ***,we aim to explore the distinct climatic factors of seasonal litterfall in a climate–phenology correlation *** collected seasonal litterfall data from 85 sites across tropical/subtropical China and used linear correlation coefficients between sunlight and rainfall to partition synchronous/asynchronous *** phase analysis and structural equation model analysis were conducted to model the climatic triggers of tropical *** indicated two types of tropical litterfall phenology under two types of *** synchronous climates,where seasonal sunlight and rainfall are positively correlated,the litterfall peak of the unimodal phenology and the first litterfall peak of the bimodal phenology both happen at the end of dry *** second litterfall peak of the bimodal phenology occurs at the end of rainy season due to water *** asynchronous climates,where seasonal sunlight and rainfall are negatively correlated,VPD shows consistent seasonal variations with incoming *** leaf senescence is accelerated at the end of dry season by higher VPD;while soil water deficit is in anti-phase with sunlight and mainly controls the second litterfall peak of the bimodal phenology in *** findings provide an important reference for modeling tropical phenology in Earth system models.

Lodging is a major yield-limiting factor in rice. Accurate assessment of rice lodging is essential for yield damage estimation, agricultural insurance claims settlement and subsequent management decisions. This study aims to explore the effect of lodging on backscatter/coherence and spectral reflectance derived from Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data. Based on this, an extraction method of lodging rice distribution using multi-source remote sensing data was proposed. The results showed that: (a) The lodging area of rice could be effectively extracted from dual-polarization Sentinel-1 image data with an accuracy of 87.87%;(b) The vegetation indices (NDVI, DVI and LSWI) extracted by Sentinel-2 are sensitive to lodging rice. Based on a certain threshold, lodging rice can be effectively extracted with an accuracy of 87.5%. Our findings demonstrate the potential of Sentinel data for near real-time detection of the rice lodging. © 2023 SPIE.

With the global economy increasingly dependent on innovation,urban discourse has shifted to consider what kinds of spatial designs may best nurture *** examined the relationship between the built environment and the spatial heterogeneity of regional innovation productivity(RIP)using the example of China's Pearl River Delta(PRD).Based on a spatial database of 522546 patent data from 2017,this study proposed an innovation-based built environment framework with the following five aspects:healthy en-vironment,daily interaction,mixed land use,commuting convenience,and technology *** negative binomial regression and Geodetector to examine the impact of the built environment on RIP,the results show that the spatial distribution of innovation productivity in the PRD region is extremely *** negative binomial regression results show that the built environment has a significant impact on the spatial differentiation of RIP,and,specifically,that healthy environment,mixed land use,commuting convenience,and technology atmosphere all demonstrate significant positive ***,the Geodetector results show that the built environment factor impacts the spatial heterogeneity of RIP to varying degrees,with technology atmosphere demonstrating the greatest impact *** conclude that as regional development discourse shifts focus to the knowledge and innovation economy,the innovation-oriented design and updating of built environments will become extremely important to policymakers.
