When optimizing the spatial data, a lot of constraints should be handled. Some constraints might be too wide for a metaheuristic algorithm, e.g. particle swarm optimization, to allocate the candidate locations outside a wide constraint. However, particle swarm optimization notably has fast computation characteristic and many researchers used this method for optimizing their spatial data. In the other hand, genetic algorithm has not only better exploitation-characteristic performance in searching but also has mutation and crossover that was proven in this study can be overcome the wide constraint problem. To minimize the drawback of genetic algorithm, i.e. need many computation resources, the hybrid particle swarm optimization with genetic algorithm through the use of crossover and mutation was used. Half of lower fitness values from particle swarm optimization were optimized using crossover and mutation in genetic algorithm. After merging the results of both methods, the optimum location showed that the proposed method was able to allocate the land use in a case study area outside the wide constraint. © 2019 IEEE.

The damage resistance cyber-physical system (CPS) has gained growing attention in research communities. Recent studies typically describe a system's resistance to shock damage using a constant factor ranging from 0 to 1, which may not accurately represent the system's true resistance due to operational intricacies. This paper introduces a resistance function employing a logarithmic form to illustrate the system's dynamic resistance to shock damage. Initially, we present the process of modeling this resistance function and examine its statistical characteristics. Subsequently, we expand upon the three types of non-fatal shocks outlined in previous studies, applying them to a multi-phase context and exploring the impact of each type of non-fatal shock across the system's three degradation phases. Using the proposed resistance function, we formulate an explicit solution for a damage resistance multiphase system reliability model. Finally, numerical examples are provided to show that the reliability model developed offers a good depiction of the system's reliability characteristics. © Conference Proceedings of the 29th ISSAT International Conference on Reliability and Quality in Design, RQD 2024.

Queueing networks have been used to model a large variety of complex systems. However, once a realistic model has been constructed it has generally been necessary to distort and modify it so that an analytic solution could be obtained. In this paper an approximate numerical solution for a multiclass preemptive priority single server queue is developed. The arrival process of each class follows a Poisson distribution. The service time distribution must have a rational Laplace transform, but is otherwise arbitrary and may be different for different classes. The work reported here was motivated by a desire to compute the equilibrium probability distribution of networks containing preemptive priority servers. Such networks are frequently encountered when modeling computer systems, medical care delivery systems and communication networks. We wish to use an iterative technique which constructs a series of two station networks consisting of one station from the original network and one “complementary” station whose behavior with respect to the original station mimics that of the rest of the network. At each iteration, it is necessary to compute the equilibrium probability distribution of one or more preemptive priority *** such queues have been studied for some time, the resulting solutions have most often been developed utilizing transforms or probability generating functions, e.g. Jaiswal [1968]; in many cases of interest, inversion has not been attempted. Miller [1981] presented explicit solutions for two class priority queues but Miller's work, which is based on that of Neuts, is limited to exponential service times and two classes. The approach presented here is applicable to many classes and to more general service time distributions than have previously been *** algorithm utilizes a bootstrap approach, a concept borrowed from dynamic programming. Social networks are becoming important dissemination platforms, and a large body of works have been performed on viral marketing, but most are to maximize the benefits associated with the number of active nodes. In this paper, we study the benefits related to interactions among activated nodes. Furthermore, due to the uncertainty in edge probability estimates in social networks, we propose the robust profit maximization problem to have the best solution in the worst case of probability settings. We design a double sandwich algorithm to this problem and further improve the algorithm with sampling method such that it increases robustness of the output. Through real data sets, we verify the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. © 2019 IEEE.

Circular dichroism(CD)spectroscopy has been widely demonstrated for detecting chiral ***,the determination of chiral mixtures with various concentrations and enantiomeric ratios can be a challenging *** solve this problem,we report an enhanced vibrational circular dichroism(VCD)sensing platform based on plasmonic chiral metamaterials,which presents a 6-magnitude signal enhancement with a selectivity of chiral *** by coupled-mode theory,we leverage both in-plane and out-of-plane symmetry-breaking structures for chiral metamaterial design enabled by a two-step lithography process,which increases the near-field coupling strengths and varies the ratio between absorption and radiation loss,resulting in improved chiral light-matter interaction and enhanced molecular VCD ***,we demonstrate the thin-film sensing process of BSA andβ-lactoglobulin proteins,which contain secondary structures a-helix andβ-sheet and achieve a limit of detection down to zeptomole ***,we also,for the first time,explore the potential of enhanced VCD spectroscopy by demonstrating a selective sensing process of chiral mixtures,where the mixing ratio can be successfully differentiated with our proposed chiral *** findings improve the sensing signal of molecules and expand the extractable information,paving the way toward label-free,compact,small-volume chiral molecule detection for stereochemical and clinical diagnosisapplications.

Convergence of Bi-Virus Epidemic Models with Non-Linear Rates on Networks - A Monotone Dynamical Systems Approach

We study convergence properties of competing epidemic models of the Susceptible-Infected-Susceptible (SIS) type. The SIS epidemic model has seen widespread popularity in modelling the spreading dynamics of contagions such as viruses, infectious diseases, or even rumors/opinions over contact networks (graphs). We analyze the case of two such viruses spreading on overlaid graphs, with non-linear rates of infection spread and recovery. We call this the non-linear bi-virus model and, building upon recent results, obtain precise conditions for global convergence of the solutions to a trichotomy of possible outcomes: a virus-free state, a single-virus state, and to a coexistence state. Our techniques are based on the theory of monotone dynamical systems (MDS), in contrast to Lyapunov based techniques that have only seen partial success in determining convergence properties in the setting of competing epidemics. We demonstrate how the existing works have been unsuccessful in characterizing a large subset of the model parameter space for bi-virus epidemics, including all scenarios leading to coexistence of the epidemics. To the best of our knowledge, our results are the first in providing complete convergence analysis for the bi-virus system with nonlinear infection and recovery rates on general graphs. © 2022, CC BY.

Air pollution is a pressing issue in cities, and managing air quality poses a challenge for urban designers and decision-makers. This study proposes a Digital Twin (DT) Smart City integrated with Mixed Reality technology to enhance visualization and collaboration for addressing urban air pollution. The research adopts an applied research approach, with a focus on developing a DT framework. A use case of DT development for Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is presented. By integrating air quality data, meteorological information, traffic patterns, and urban infrastructure data, the DT provides a comprehensive understanding of air pollution dynamics. The visualization capabilities of the DT, utilizing Mixed Reality technology, facilitate effective decision-making and the identification of strategies for managing air quality. However, further research is needed to address data management challenges to build a DT for Smart City at scale. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
