We study the file transfer problem in opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) model, which has been widely studied in throughput-oriented applications for max-throughput strategies and in delay-related works that commonly assume identical channel rates and fixed file sizes. Our work explicitly considers minimizing the file transfer time for a given file in a set of heterogeneous-rate Bernoulli channels, showing that max-throughput policy doesn’t minimize file transfer time in general. We formulate a mathematical framework for static extend to dynamic policies by mapping our file transfer problem to a stochastic shortest path problem. We analyze the performance of our proposed static and dynamic optimal policies over the max-throughput policy. We propose a mixed-integer programming formulation as an efficient alternative way to obtain the dynamic optimal policy and show a huge reduction in computation time. Then, we propose a heuristic policy that takes into account the performance-complexity tradeoff and consider the online implementation with unknown channel parameters. Furthermore, we present numerical simulations to support our analytical results and discuss the effect of switching delay on different policies. Finally, we extend the file transfer problem to Markovian channels and demonstrate the impact of the correlation of each channel. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Dengue fever is mainly caused by female mosquitoes from the genus Aedes. It predominantly occurs in equatorial to sub-tropical regions. The weather factors play a significant role in the mosquito life cycle, so a study on the impact of climate parameters on dengue incidence is required. This study aimed to understand the statistical association between the annual fluctuation of dengue cases with climate factors in Indonesia. Climatic data, annual rainfall, and annual mean ambient temperature of Indonesia were obtained from *** from 2010 to 2020, while the data on the annual incidence of dengue fever in Indonesia were collected from the Indonesian Health Profile by the Ministry of Health of Indonesia from 2010 to 2020. The association between climatic factors with dengue cases was calculated with Spearman statistical test after the data was indicated as not normally distributed. In addition, we performed Poisson regression analysis to examine how the changes in climatic parameters affect the dengue cases. The rain precipitation was insignificantly correlated with the dengue incidence in Indonesia during the study time. In contrast, the ambient temperature statistically showed a strong association with the dengue cases. The association between climatic factors and the number of dengue cases suggests that the model would likely be prospectively applied to the dengue early warning system as a nationwide intervention to reduce the epidemic impact in Indonesia.

Precise predictions of indoor climate conditions are required in the implementation of Smart Solar Dryer Dome (SDD). Trend development of prediction models is discussed in this review from 15 selected research papers (2018–2022) on indoor climate prediction which was obtained from research paper databases The output shows that the most used model for predicting indoor climate is Artificial Neural Network (ANN), especially Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) such as LSTM and GRU. However, there are some potential methods such as Transformer, Combined Support Vector Machines (SVM)-Deep Learning, and sequence-to-sequence which could outperform other commonly used models. Based on findings various opportunities exist to improve the precision of indoor climate prediction, which can bring power consumption efficiency and others benefit to Smart SDD users. Such studies may further be explored to produce more accurate machine learning models.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a type of diabetes mellitus that attacks the retina of the eye. DR will cause patients to experience blindness slowly. Generally, DR can be detected by using a special instrument called an ophthalmoscope to view the inside of the eyeball. However, in conditions where there is a very small difference between the normal image and the DR image, computer-based assistance is needed for maximizing image reading value. In this research, a method of image quality improvement will be carried out which will then be integrated with a classification algorithm based on deep learning. The results of image improvement using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) shows that the average accuracy of the method on several models is very competitive, 91% for the VGG16 model, 95% for InceptionV3, and 97% for EfficientNet compared to the results original image which only has an accuracy of 87% for VGG16 model, 90% for InceptionV3 model, and 95% for EfficientNet. However, in ResNet34 better accuracy is obtained in the original image with an accuracy of 95% while in the CLAHE image the accuracy value is only 84%. The results of this comprehensive evaluation and recommendation of famous backbone networks can be useful in the computer-Aided diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. In today's digitalization era, asset management has evolved following the rapid adoption of information systems and digital technologies. In the maintenance phase of the asset, Digital Twin (DT) emerges as an effective approach to improve failure recognition and structural damage prediction through DT-driven Prognostic and Health Monitoring (PHM). As a result, DT allows asset manager to proactively plan maintenance strategy to improve the availability of the assets. However, to reduce asset downtime in a cost-effective and time efficient manner, DT for maintenance phase needs to be integrated with other software systems that manage the provision of maintenance service and spare part such as computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Nevertheless, many of the developed DT in PHM were not equipped with semantic data model and hence, lacks interoperability with other systems (e.g., other DT or non-DT system) and limits the effective use of the DT. To qualify as an effective DT, it needs a semantical-enabled interface to connect with data and models from various domain to enable DT-driven decision-making. This paper leverages a rule-based ontology reasoning model to enhance DT interoperability with other maintenance software systems. The results depicts that the developed model paves a way for an effective use of DT-driven system in asset maintenance management.

As one of the largest exporters in the world, cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) production in Indonesia provides an important contribution to the plantation sector that can, directly and indirectly, attribute to the national economic development. However, recent data shows a decline in cocoa productivity in Indonesia. This is arguably caused by various factors, including poor agricultural management and practices in cocoa plantations, that may lead to lower fertility in the soil and an increased risk of diseases and pests. Potassium deficiency is a major contributing factor to the low soil fertility that affects cocoa yields. Therefore, in this work, we implement an application with an expert system utilizing the forward chaining method to detect potassium deficiency in cocoa plants and then give a fertilization-based recommendation based on the plants’ condition. The system employs a set of rules to identify symptoms related to the deficiency on the sample photo of a cocoa leaf according to the channels of red, green, and blue of the image. The sample images of cocoa leaves are submitted to the application with an easy-to-use interface that can show the scanning result and proceed to display the suggested quantity of fertilizers to prevent potassium deficiency. Implementing the system can contribute constructive impacts to improve current practices in the overall cropping system of cocoa plants.

THE EFFECT OF VISUAL APPEAL, SOCIAL INTERACTION, ENJOYMENT, AND COMPETITION ON MOBILE ESPORTS ACCEPTANCE BY URBAN CITIZENS

Aim/Purpose This study investigated a model of mobile esports acceptance among urban citizens based on an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Background Currently, esports are increasingly popular and in demand by the public. Supported by the widespread development of mobile devices, it has become an interactive market trend to play games in a new model, mobile esports. Methodology This study collected data from 400 respondents and analyzed it using partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Contribution This study addresses two research gaps. The first gap is limited esports information systems studies, particularly in mobile esports acceptance studies. The second gap is limited exploration of external variables in online gaming acceptance studies. Thus, this study proposed a TAM extended model by integrating the TAM native variables with other external variables such as visual appeal, enjoyment, social interaction, and competition to explore mobile esports acceptance by urban citizens. Findings Nine hypotheses were accepted, and four were rejected. The visual appeal did not affect the acceptance. Meanwhile, social interaction and enjoyment significantly affected both perceived ease of use and usefulness. However, perceived ease of use surprisingly had an insignificant effect on attitude toward using mobile esports. Moreover, competition significantly affected the acceptance, particularly on perceived usefulness. Recommendations Fresh and innovative features, such as new game items or themes, should be frefor Practitioners quently introduced to enhance players’ continued enjoyment. Moreover, mobile esports providers should offer a solid platform to excite players’ interactions to increase the likelihood that users feel content. To strengthen conservation efforts for preserving biodiversity in a conservation area, forest inventory is important to understand the natural succession process in the area and to establish a monitoring strategy. Further, tree inventory aims to monitor the output yielded in the area. More specifically, the tree inventory in the watershed area plays a key role to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), especially in riparian zones which are also vital parts of green zones in forests. However, the traditional inventory approach is time-consuming and laborious therefore the development of an expert system to assist in inventory monitoring is required. In this study, we develop a monitoring system via a mobile application to collect, analyze and visualize tree inventory data. The application includes algorithms required to compute tree biodiversity, distribution, and richness for the given input of the data of all tree species in a conservation area. For the model validation stage, we compare the traditional inventory approach with our proposed application-based approach to compute diversity inventory in two riparian locations: Klaten Conservation Park and Wonosobo Conservation Park. After the three-day data collection in the areas, we obtain that the accuracy of reading data of our proposed system can achieve more than 90% in comparison with the manual approach. This demonstrates that the system can assist forestry workers to perform more efficient tree inventories in different locations. © 2022 IEEE.

It is being observed that the use of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) in health sciences research grows as the technology and miniaturization of devices occur. Those devices often times suffer from several issues such as: being invasive, lacking the ability to collect many signals concurrently and communication. The present work proposes an approach to the use of an ultra-small IoMT device to fulfill the functions of a bio-signals data collector, a mathematical models processor, a data transmitter-receptor through the network, and a mechanical actuators controller. Our test environment was conceived to be used in animal models. This is an ongoing project from which partial results indicate that, when functioning, the device will use real-time data for monitoring bio-signals and helping with decision-making as it interacts with the organism. The data collection is going to be made through low-cost non-invasive sensors. Badminton is a very popular subject in Physical Education (PE). Many students enroll badminton courses in every semester which pose a tremendous teaching load to the instructors. The one-on-one guiding/feedback time provided by the instructor to each student is also greatly reduced. To overcome this challenge, some studies have tried to adopt pose recognition technique in teaching badminton. However, the lack of mobility and recognition accuracy problems hinder its applicability. To address this issue, a new pose recognition technique, OpenPose, was employed to develop a real-time pose recognition badminton teaching APP in this study. The APP was then installed on a mobile device to enhance badminton smash skill learning performance. The scores distribution of the experimental group shows majority of students achieved satisfactory performance, this implies the badminton teaching APP is helpful to all students no matter what their initial skill levels are. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
