Malaria is a communicable disease with half of the global population at risk due to its high morbidity and mortality rates. A massive number of studies are dedicated to malaria research, so it plays a key role in formulating the proper prevention strategy and effective malaria treatment. With the overwhelming number of updated publications in the field, an unsupervised text mining approach such as topic modeling may provide an alternative method for the malaria researcher to keep pace with new insights. In this work, we collect metadata of malaria publications from the PubMed database to perform BERT-based topic modeling to find well-defined topics regarding malaria research. The method is largely based on the popular BERTopic pipeline. We compare the performance of three different language models to generate document embeddings from the data. The dimension reduction and the density-based clustering algorithm are used to cluster the embeddings. The topic representation is computed based on the semantic similarity of the class TF-IDF representation. The substance of the resulting topics is then manually annotated based on the top words of each topic. We demonstrate that by merging initial topics into larger topics using hierarchical clustering and manual content-based examination, the evaluated coherence measure can be further improved, thus enhancing the topic's interpretability. Our modeling result is able to extract ten major topics recurring in the malaria research publication published from 2017–2022. The result provides preliminary insight to understand the dynamics and patterns of malaria research over the years

The topological features of optical vortices have been opening opportunities for free-space and on-chip photonic technologies,e.g.,for multiplexed optical communications and robust information *** a parallel but disjoint effort,polar anisotropic van der Waals nanomaterials supporting hyperbolic phonon polaritons(HP2s)have been leveraged to drastically boost light-matter *** far HP2 studies have been mainly focusing on the control of their amplitude and scale *** we report the generation and observation of mid-infrared hyperbolic polariton vortices(HP2Vs)associated with reconfigurable topological ***-shaped gold disks coated with a flake of hexagonal boron nitride are exploited to tailor spin-orbit interactions and realise deeply subwavelength *** complex interplay between excitation spin,spiral geometry and HP2 dispersion enables robust reconfigurability of the associated topological *** results reveal unique opportunities to extend the application of HP2s into topological photonics,quantum information processing by integrating these phenomena with single-photon emitters,robust on-chip optical applications,sensing and nanoparticle manipulation.

Conformal Tail Risk Control for Large Language Model Alignment

Recent developments in large language models (LLMs) have led to their widespread usage for various tasks. The prevalence of LLMs in society implores the assurance on the reliability of their performance. In particular, risk-sensitive applications demand meticulous attention to unexpectedly poor outcomes, i.e., tail events, for instance, toxic answers, humiliating language, and offensive outputs. Due to the costly nature of acquiring human annotations, general-purpose scoring models have been created to automate the process of quantifying these tail events. This phenomenon introduces potential human-machine misalignment between the respective scoring mechanisms. In this work, we present a lightweight calibration framework for blackbox models that ensures the alignment of humans and machines with provable guarantees. Our framework provides a rigorous approach to controlling any distortion risk measure that is characterized by a weighted average of quantiles of the loss incurred by the LLM with high confidence. The theoretical foundation of our method relies on the connection between conformal risk control and a traditional family of statistics, i.e., L-statistics. To demonstrate the utility of our framework, we conduct comprehensive experiments that address the issue of human-machine misalignment. © 2025, CC BY.

Although Twitter is a popular platform for social interaction analysis and text data mining, it faces challenges with geolocation automation. To address this problem, the researchers propose the utilization of a Support Vector Machine (SVM) model to develop an automated Twitter crawling system. The system aims to collect data related to weather in Indonesia by employing Twin, a Python-based Twitter scraping software. To overcome null geolocations, the study incorporates aliases created based on the common practice of Indonesian users mentioning the country's location in tweets. The results demonstrate that the SVM model, combined with automated smart crawling, achieves an 85% accuracy rate.

The human brain is a complex inter-wired system that emerges spontaneous functional fluctuations. In spite of tremendous success in the experimental neuroscience field, a system-level understanding of how brain anatomy supports various neural activities remains elusive. Capitalizing on the unprecedented amount of neuroimaging data, we present a physics-informed deep model to uncover the coupling mechanism between brain structure and function through the lens of data geometry that is rooted in the widespread wiring topology of connections between distant brain regions. Since deciphering the puzzle of self-organized patterns in functional fluctuations is the gateway to understanding the emergence of cognition and behavior, we devise a geometric deep model to uncover manifold mapping functions that characterize the intrinsic feature representations of evolving functional fluctuations on the Riemannian manifold. In lieu of learning unconstrained mapping functions, we introduce a set of graph-harmonic scattering transforms to impose the brain-wide geometry on top of manifold mapping functions, which allows us to cast the manifold-based deep learning into a reminiscent of MLP-Mixer architecture (in computer vision) for Riemannian manifold. As a proof-of-concept approach, we explore a neural-manifold perspective to understand the relationship between (static) brain structure and (dynamic) function, challenging the prevailing notion in cognitive neuroscience by proposing that neural activities are essentially excited by brain-wide oscillation waves living on the geometry of human connectomes, instead of being confined to focal areas.

Surveillance server technology was growth with new technology, effective, extra new features, human friendly, and human deals with big amount data, can't view and collect the data in the short time, and took time to analyze, playback video/picture to determine machine, human, vehicle or environment issues or performance, Surveillance Server Systems now which has the ability to face recognition, face detection, human detection, motion detection, license plate recognition, The authors perform this study that still new this research has never been done before to determine the efficacy of the LSTM in predicting human behavior (Long Short Term Memory) Face Detection on Server surveillance system, by taking log view data with a total of 91501 Face detection data downloaded from 10/18/2022~11/9/2022, the data will be processed using Python programming and training so that it can be used to predict the future regarding human activities that vary utilizing time series prediction LSTM include the number of daily activities, the highest and lowest numbers of days, and the maximum and minimum numbers of days. from the results of this study it was found to help to find out the days with the lowest number of humans and the days with the highest number of human activities, so that the owner can predict with sequence of the data the service would be provided when human activity is high in certain area or certain day, it can also can find out the maximum or minimum amount human counting day by day, and compare able some different date and location, the author will continue to do more in-depth research the others data related with prediction with deep learning server surveillance machine system interaction with human, vehicle behavior in the future studies.

Organizing music activities for the elderly is another way that supports their well-being. Angklung, an Indonesian musical instrument, has been used for music activities for the elderly in Thailand with the hand signs method. Unfortunately, music activity is not widely used because the experts with the hand sign skills are few and not enough for demanding in the aging healthcare. At the same time, technologies of remote systems using the Internet of Things (IoT) have been developed to assist the elderly in supporting and improving their quality of life. This paper will introduce 'Angklung Smart Band,' an IoT-based system to support Angklung music activities for the elderly in Thailand. This work aims at setting up Angklung music activities for the elderly by using technology instead of hand signs. The system is composed of a web application, IoT devices, and Angklung musical instruments connected together via a wireless network. We did a preliminary study with the experts to improve experiences and system performance. After that, we asked the music experts to use the smart band to conduct the music activities experiment with the elderly for three days and give us feedback. The results found that the smart band could assist the Angklung music experts and help with the shortage of music expertise in aged care facilities or nursing homes. © 2022 IEEE.

After the Covid 19 pandemic, the property management industry is slowly starting to revive. Even though the occupancy rate has not returned to normal like the Covid19 pandemic, its growth is starting to move in a positive direction. The Covid19 pandemic has provided many lessons for all stakeholders in the property management industry. Digital transformation has become a part that has received important attention in the property management industry worldwide. With digital transformation in the property management industry, all stakeholders are expected to receive various benefits, directly or indirectly. The implementation of digital transformation will involve 6 components, namely: Strategy, Organization, Culture, Customer, People, and Technology. The implementation of digital transformation in the property management industry will require support from many parties, not only internal parties but also external parties. Technological developments, IoT, and demands from residents and property owners are challenges that must be answered by property managers. This systematic literature review will examine articles that have been published in the Scopus database regarding the development of digital transformation in the property management industry from various countries. The purpose of this SLR is to be able to see how the digital transformation trend and the application of its components are in the current property management industry.

Depressive Disorders (DD) is one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the world that may lead to suicide cases. To prevent the latter, ubiquitous early detection systems may be effective. Recent studies have since researched the development of such systems by exploiting several forms of data, including video, audio, Ecological Momentary Assessments (EMA), and passive sensing data using sensors embedded in mobile devices. To summarize the trends, opportunities, and existing challenges in this field, this study reviewed 15 papers to answer four research questions. EMA was the most popular data to be used in this task, but other approaches, such as using video, audio, and typing behaviors, may be considered due to the subjectivity of EMA. These data were typically recorded using smartphones and analyzed using Machine Learning (ML). However, most of the developed systems had yet to be implemented. Overall, it was concluded that further studies may need to explore usages of more objective data in multimodal approaches as well as consider using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) to deploy these systems to provide more effective and efficient diagnoses. Future studies must also take into account the existing challenges of the data and infrastructures, such as the weaknesses of several data types, limitations of mobile devices, as well as the challenges of diagnosis approaches.

Nowadays mixing one language with another language either in spoken or written communication has become a common practice for bilingual speakers in daily conversation as well as in social media. Lexicon based approach is one of the approaches in extracting the sentiment analysis. This study is aimed to compare two lexicon models which are SentiNetWord and VADER in extracting the polarity of the code-mixed sentences in Indonesian language and Javanese language. 3,963 tweets were gathered from two accounts that provide code-mixed tweets. Pre-processing such as removing duplicates, translating to English, filter special characters, transform lower case and filter stop words were conducted on the tweets. Positive and negative word score from lexicon model was then calculated using simple mathematic formula in order to classify the polarity. By comparing with the manual labelling, the result showed that SentiNetWord perform better than VADER in negative sentiments. However, both of the lexicon model did not perform well in neutral and positive sentiments. On overall performance, VADER showed better performance than SentiNetWord. This study showed that the reason for the misclassified was that most of Indonesian language and Javanese language consist of words that were considered as positive in both Lexicon model. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
