PS-IPS: Deploying Intrusion Prevention System with machine learning on programmable switch

Intrusion prevention is significant to avoid device damage and financial losses. Researchers have proposed various Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to prevent malware, including traditional and SDN-based IPS. However, existing IPSs suffer from low throughput problems caused by detection and rule-installation delays. Here, we propose a programmable switch-base IPS (named PS-IPS), which utilizes the switch CPU and pipeline to detect malware. PS-IPS consists of four main components: (1) parser, (2) flow filter, (3) recirculation director, and (4) malware detector. According to the experiment, PS-IPS achieves a 183X throughput than the SDN-based IPS. The response time of PS-IPS is also reduced by 99.99%, showing that PS-IPS effectively prevents malware with a single programmable switch. © 2023

Over the past years,many efforts have been accomplished to achieve fast and accurate meta-heuristic algorithms to optimize a variety of real-world *** study presents a new optimization method based on an unusual geological phenomenon in nature,named Geyser inspired Algorithm(GEA).The mathematical modeling of this geological phenomenon is carried out to have a better understanding of the optimization *** efficiency and accuracy of GEA are verified using statistical examination and convergence rate comparison on numerous CEC 2005,CEC 2014,CEC 2017,and real-parameter benchmark ***,GEA has been applied to several real-parameter engineering optimization problems to evaluate its *** addition,to demonstrate the applicability and robustness of GEA,a comprehensive investigation is performed for a fair comparison with other standard optimization *** results demonstrate that GEA is noticeably prosperous in reaching the optimal solutions with a high convergence rate in comparison with other well-known nature-inspired algorithms,including ABC,BBO,PSO,and *** that the source code of the GEA is publicly available at https://***/projects/gea.

Vortices are whirling disturbances,commonly found in nature,ranging from tremendously small scales in Bose-Einstein condensations to cosmologically colossal scales in spiral *** optical vortex,generally associated with a spiral phase,can carry orbital angular momentum(OAM).The optical OAM can either be in the longitudinal direction if the spiral phase twists in the spatial domain or in the transverse direction if the phase rotates in the spatiotemporal *** this article,we demonstrate the intersection of spatiotemporal vortices and spatial vortices in a wave *** a result of this intersection,the wave packet hosts a tilted OAM that provides an additional degree of freedom to the applications that harness the OAM of photons.

Alkali niobium borogermanosilicate optical fiber derived via the molten core method [Invited]

Herein, multicomponent glass optical fibers are produced using the molten core fiber fabrication method. A pre-melted glass of 30 K2O-20 Nb2O5-50 GeO2 is used as a starting core material along with a low-alkali borosilicate (Duran) glass cladding. Some of the cladding dissolves into the core during the draw, and the final composition of the fiber core is a complex alkali borogermanosilicate with a little over 10 mol% Nb2O5. Although the germanium and niobium stay well confined within the core, potassium ions are observed to diffuse 10-15 µm beyond the core into the borosilicate cladding. The fibers have a large numerical aperture greater than 0.6. Yb-doped versions were fabricated to gauge feasibility of this platform for fiber gain media. Forward amplified spontaneous emission was observed with no signal;then, a 0.49 dB/cm signal amplification at 1026 nm was achieved. A parasitic background absorption coefficient value of 0.7 dB/cm at 1080 nm was measured. The phonon energy of the base niobium germanate and a simulated fiber core glass was measured using Eu3+ doped bulk glasses. The silicon and boron intrusion into the core does create high energy phonons around the rare-earth ions, but the niobium and/or germanium do appear to maintain strong influence over the excitation and the emission spectra in the Duran-diluted core glass composition. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Optica Open Access Publishing Agreement.

Pattern Synthesis of a Resonant Slot on a Broad Wall of the Rectangular Waveguide Using Amplitude and Phase Control

A design technique to develop the desired pattern with uniform spacing between elements for a resonant linear slot array on the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide is discussed in this study. First, linear array pattern synthesis is used to achieve the amplitude and phase of the array element. Then both radiation pattern synthesis and array input impedance matching are achieved using the least-squares method. In addition, the error function is created by combining the three terms of impedance matching, array pattern synthesis, and slot design equations. Genetic algorithm (GA) and the conjugate gradient (CG) technique are used to minimize the acquired error function. The utilized approach results in precise pattern synthesis, good impedance matching, development of appropriate design equations, and power loss minimization. The computing needs were also reduced using the suggested antenna design. The approach is particularly beneficial since it integrates slot parameter dimensions and impedance matching with array pattern synthesis, resulting in a faster and more accurate design. Full-wave simulation Software HFSS was utilized to validate the suggested design method. Moreover, the measurements were conducted on a prototype designed to validate the simulation’s accuracy and the designed antenna practicality, and excellent agreements between theoretical predictions and simulation results were achieved. © 2023, Electromagnetics Academy. Failure detection is an essential task in industrial systems for preventing costly downtime and ensuring the seamlessoperation of the system. Current industrial processes are getting smarter with the emergence of Industry ***, various modernized industrial processes have been equipped with quite a few sensors to collectprocess-based data to find faults arising or prevailing in processes along with monitoring the status of *** diagnosis of rotating machines serves a main role in the engineering field and industrial production. Dueto the disadvantages of existing fault, diagnosis approaches, which greatly depend on professional experienceand human knowledge, intellectual fault diagnosis based on deep learning (DL) has attracted the researcher’sinterest. DL reaches the desired fault classification and automatic feature learning. Therefore, this article designs a Gradient Optimizer Algorithm with Hybrid Deep Learning-based Failure Detection and Classification (GOAHDLFDC)in the industrial environment. The presented GOAHDL-FDC technique initially applies continuous wavelettransform (CWT) for preprocessing the actual vibrational signals of the rotating machinery. Next, the residualnetwork (ResNet18) model was exploited for the extraction of features from the vibration signals which are thenfed into theHDLmodel for automated fault detection. Finally, theGOA-based hyperparameter tuning is performedtoadjust the parameter valuesof theHDLmodel *** experimental result analysis of the GOAHDL-FD Calgorithm takes place using a series of simulations and the experimentation outcomes highlight the better resultsof the GOAHDL-FDC technique under different aspects.

Soft electromechanical sensors have led to a new paradigm of electronic devices for novel motion-based wearable applications in our daily lives. However, the vast amount of random and unidentified signals generated by complex body motions has hindered the precise recognition and practical application of this technology. Recent advancements in artificial-intelligence technology have enabled significant strides in extracting features from massive and intricate data sets, thereby presenting a breakthrough in utilizing wearable sensors for practical applications. Beyond traditional machine-learning techniques for classifying simple gestures, advanced machine-learning algorithms have been developed to handle more complex and nuanced motion-based tasks with restricted training data sets. Machine-learning techniques have improved the ability to perceive, and thus machine-learned wearable soft sensors have enabled accurate and rapid human-gesture recognition, providing real-time feedback to users. This forms a crucial component of future wearable electronics, contributing to a robust human–machine interface. In this review, we provide a comprehensive summary covering materials, structures and machine-learning algorithms for hand-gesture recognition and possible practical applications through machine-learned wearable electromechanical sensors.
