Many emerging mobile wireless applications use symmetric keys for secure multicast communication. This key has to be changed every time a user decides to leave or join the network. We introduce a novel hierarchical security framework for mobile Ad Hoc Multicast networks in which data encryption is done using a symmetric key and key establishment using symmetric 'level' keys and asymmetric node keys. Our primary contention is that the tree formation process should be integrated with the key exchange process and should not be treated as an add-on. Our scheme effectively handles the impact of mobility on key establishment while minimizing the number of messages to be exchanged.

Grids aim at exploiting synergies that result from cooperation of autonomous distributed entities. The synergies that result from grid cooperation include the sharing, exchange, selection, and aggregation of geographically distributed resources such as comp.ters, data bases, software, and scientific instruments for solving large-scale problems in science, engineering, and commerce. For this cooperation to be sustainable, participants need to have economic incentive. Therefore, "incentive" mechanisms should be considered as one of key design parameters of Grid architectures. In this article, we present an overview and status of an open source Grid toolkit, called Gridbus, whose architecture is fundamentally driven by the requirements of Grid economy. Gridbus technologies provide services for both comp.tational and data grids that power the emerging eScience and eBusiness applications.

Cluster comp.ters have become the vehicle of choice to build high performance comp.ting environments. To fully exploit the comp.ting power of these environments, one must utilize high performance network and protocol technologies, since the communication patterns of parallel applications running on clusters require low latency and high throughput, not achievable by using off-the-shell network technologies. We have developed a technology to build high performance network equipment, called Maestro2. This paper describes the novel techniques used by Maestro2 to extract maximum performance from the physical medium and studies the impact of software-level parameters. The results obtained clearly show that Maestro2 is a promising technology, presenting very good results both in terms of latency and throughput. The results also show the large impact of software overhead in the overall performance of the system and validate the need for optimized communication libraries for high performance comp.ting.
